and yes, before you ask, there's nothing wrong with my computer and my drivers are up to date. ive checked the skyrim forums, and a LOT of ppl are complaining about dropping frames and huge issues. they've recommended turning off vsync and lowering shadows and shit, but all the tinkering around ive done, doesnt really work (unless i put everything on low, which i refuse to do since i should easily be able to run this on ultra). While it probably wouldn't affect you enough to be unplayable on THAT rig, try disabling X-box controller support, it caused problems for me originally.

I think I'll try to actually get some sleep tonight, so no Skyrim for me.

ive only been playing a few hours (unlike you guys i still play starcraft sometimes :D) and so far ive been trying out a bit of everything, archery 1 hander + magic, duel wield magic. is it normal that early game i run out of magicka quite quickly? i can only kill 2ish guys sometimes (seems a bit random) before im oom and have to do a bit of hack and slash, will that change as i level up? or should i just stock up on magicka pots?.
is playing around with a bow a bit rather than concentrating on pure magic going to hinder me at all or is it ok to be a bit of an all rounder?
i was wearing leather armor for a while, but then some iron armor that had more armor on it dropped so i decided to use it, is there any bonus in using lighter armors or do i need to invest in perks to get any bonus?
im playing a nord, is the starting bonus for each race in different areas just a starting bonus i can just train past, or does each race level up faster in different areas?

Check your Temps. Its always the number one culprit of problems on an otherwise good computer. Since its a laptop that wouldnt surprise me
Im playing on a laptop on medium graphics. the thing with mobile cards you need to remember is they suck at antia aliasing and smoothing edges. The cards can run all the textures they want and the CPU can render everything well alongside the GPU but for some reason smoothing edges kills them. I have a 330m 2 year old laptop with an i5 at 2.24 Ghz. I run medium really well with high textures and objects drawn i changed to be 2 points ahead of the medium settings and I get 70 fps in everything BUT caves with a waterfall and lots of candles in one room whenever music plays. Its the only time my CPU can't keep up (damn that high quality music).
If i don't use my laptop fan it shuts down my pc in 5 minutes due to heat and I get really bad stuttering.
Also, I just soloed my first blood dragon on top of a mountain that was some epic stuff.

Most addicting game ive played in years. More than witcher 2

Once you get magic robes you'll wanna drop your armor completely anyways, they have really good bonus's like 25% and higher magicka regen.
Bow is really useful for any class. I see lots of mages using bow for sneak attack criticals, and then finishing them off with your spells. If your using spells as your pimarry offense, it really won't hinder you all that much.
Starting bonus is just that, a starting bonus. Most important is your built in frost resistance, how I envy you nord's for that. I'm an Imperial sword and board guy, I end up drinking resist frost potions when I fight against ice breathe dragons, even with a 15% frost resist shield.

Godamit my main quest is bugged.+ Show Spoiler +After you infiltrate the Thellan Embassy, you are sent to find an old man, he is somewhere in the Thieves guilds sewers, I find him behind his barricated door, which he is supposed to open after we talk but nothing happens. He doesn't open the door. Am I doing something wrong here or is that a bug? It's on the main storyline also so I can not advance, T_T.

Magicka runs out pretty quick, yeah. Pots are your friend.
Playing around with a bow won't be too much of an issue. Just don't spread yourself too thin, though.
Heavy armor makes you slower, weighs more and makes you less stealthy because of the noise it makes. Not sure if it does anything to magic, but light armor/robes are more likely to have enchantments on them to help you, like extra magicka regen and cost reduction for spells.
Each race has a different starting bonus and ability. Nords for example have 50% frost resistance and an ability they can use to scare enemies. They are unique bonuses, which you *could* get by using potions/magic/enchantments, but that's in no way similar to them being free. Orcs get a double damage given, half damage taken ability, for example. Doable with magic and potions, but very difficult.
High elves, bretons and dark elves are probably the best mages, though a nord won't do badly.
EDIT: Steveling, do you care about getting Steam achievements? If not, you can open the console (~) then, without selecting (clicking) anything type in "tcl" without the " of course. This will enable no-clip, and you can walk through his door. I've had a few friends with the same problem. Note: If you use console commands, you will no longer receive Steam achievements. You have been warned.

Lol this game is clearly addicting as fuck, there's no way I am buying this until summer if even then. It would definitely take too much time out of other areas of my life...
I wonder of the purchase of this game will be the downfall of LiquidTyler this MLG :D

Right now I'm running improved Shadows (which actually improved performance too, trollol Bethesda), a memory fix removing most of the 4-5s lags in new areas, the FX tuning linked above and enhanced night sky. Oh, and a nude mod. Shame on me. =D

I need some help... like badly Im completely stuck and I don't want to continue in fear that I'm going to fuck this up. I'm doing the Markath quest lines where + Show Spoiler +I was imprisoned and all that crap, its called Noone escapes from Cidnha Mines. I decided to help the leader of the forsworn instead of just killing him and stealing the key to the escape. After I do all the crap, we make our way through the mines and dwarven ruins, and he gives me all the shit that was taken away for getting arrested. I go outside, and the forsworn are lined up, with the Thonos guy and one guard staring them down..... and nothing happens. I watched a video of someone else doing the quest(everything is fine up until the 19 min mark) and there are supposed to be like 4 guards with the guy, and they talk to the forsworn and fight and you complete the objective. Instead they just stand there and do nothing. If i attack the guards, the forsworn just yell "nothing to do with me" and run away, and i get a 40 gold bounty, and the quest doesn't complete. If i 1 shot the Thonos guy in the face, the forsworn attack all the guards and murder them and i complete the quest, but i get an over 1000 gold bounty. They also just rampage around the city and stand there stomping some old lady in the ground for like an hour. Is this what is supposed to happen... what am i supposed to do Help please I can't play till i figure this out!

Anyone else deeply disappointed with the mainquest line?
Ending inside: + Show Spoiler +I mean compared to the Guild-Quests (Brootherhood,Thieves, Companions etc. which should be additions to the main story) it was pretty underwhelming. Sovngarde came out of nowhere - WTF are these guys? Dont get me wrong, i love the quests/story in that game but somehow i am disappointed with that You kill Anduin and nothing really changes in the world. People should atleast treat me as the motherfucking dragon slayer that i am!! I am only lvl 24 aswell and i didnt rush it. I dont know

I have done that quest line, so hopefully I can help a little.
+ Show Spoiler +When I did it, as you said, the Forsworn talk to the Silver-Blood guy and proceed to murder the Silver-Blood + any guards they see. They should literally run around the whole place battering guards. Then they just kinda dissapear and that's it. It's a very weird quest line, that personally, I feel was added near the end of the development of the game because it just doesn't click and feel right once it's over. Since completing that quest line I have a bug that wont allow me to pay off my bounty in Markarth (after I accidentally killed a Noble outside of the town) so i've literally had to kill every guard left in the place. Probably 50+ guards so far. I subsequently can't do any of the quests for the Jarl or the High Elf people. Really frustrating. Anyway, I think you will probably just have to take the 1000 bounty and deal with it. Have you checked through all of your quest objectives? Perhaps you have another quest open that is interfering with it? Not sure

Anyone else looking nervously at the sky each time you hear some heavy wind noise in the wilderness? I can't think of any game awesome enough to give me this feeling, not even Oblivion/morrowind.
