cool. as long as this isn't one of those games where if you allot the skills incorrectly or inefficiently you end up being screwed
Ill just have my fire wielding archer sneak dude. Though perhaps Wood elf would have been better for the magicka bonus initially :S Oh well next time I play Ill have screwed around and have an idea of what I want to do and I can plan out a character

As long as you can get a little bit of distance between you and your target you are pretty much guaranteed 2-3 shots with the sneak attack damage bonus with does insane damage if you have bow dmg armor and perks.

can someone tell me how really Steadfast Ward spell actually works? Is a self-cast spell? I cant get it.
EDIT: Lol i get it. while im casting it, I get +60 armor. Useless. EDIT 2: Increases armor rating by 60 points and negates up to 60 points of spell damage or effects. Ok thats cool

Yeah its hella fun lol
Ive heard dual weild melee is the hardest to go with
I was also playing around with smithing and fixing my low level weapons but I don't want to do it the whole game, I could care less since mainly Ill be using daggers and sneaking.
Enchanting wasn't fun and conjuring doesn't seem enjoyable to me either. I would rather kill it myself as opposed to conjuring things to help out.
Alchemy is cool I like making debuffs to tip my arrows and one handed weapons so that if the enemies do close in I can kill them faster.
Making health potions is nice but not a huge deal.
Also I got the game on steam so no user manual -- does stamina improvements only help how long you can run and how much weight you carry? Since I'm using light armour I could care less about weight if so.

i use sword and shield and my melee fights are epic sometimes.
a lot of evading, shouting, shield bashing and blocking to set the enemy up for a special attack or decapitation. Only downside is that my armor skills always fall behind.
I also consider learning 2H because they enemies always mess me up with a 2Hander.

Make tons or gold ore, smelt into gold ingots and craft some golden jewelry with the gems you already found some some cash and skill points. i think that tome broke my character. i picked up and thought it would be useful next time i'm crafting. later on i read it to save on space and ever since i read it i cannot go into my magic menu. if i try it freezes my xbox and i have to reset it using the power button. I had to load a save from like 2 hours back
Well that sucks. Im on PC without issues. I am from long before the autosave feature so the habit to save often perseveres.
It's a good trick but maybe Xbox users beware and save manually before hand.

I didn't crash at all yesterday, but for some reason, I crash every 15 min now ( Got it on steam for PC. Anyone else having this issue?

It's actually pretty decent when facing spellcasters, as it absorbs damage, but it takes soooo much mana...

Questing for the voices turned out harder than I expected. Also, sneak archery ftw! + Show Spoiler +Ragnvald boss was super difficult for me. Each shock spell took like half my health ;;

Wow. Just wow.
I've been a HUGE fan of Morrowind.
I didn't like Oblivion that much since it kinda bored me quickly, however, Skyrim has me hooked like some kind of bastard child between the two.
Also: FOR EVERY FUCKING QUEST I COMPLETE I GET LIKE 2-3 MORE WHICH ARE FUN AS WELL, TY. <3
Random happy-rants: + Show Spoiler + -The whole "Favorites" and non-existant quickbar is annoying in the beginning but I got used to it okayish. Could have been done better. -I have to WORK for my houses (no random dlc and "HI YOU JUST INHERITED IT!!) -Companions feel slightly OP (at least my dear Lydia seems to be. She was the best looking, easy choice. What's the real difference between companions anyway? -Characters and their voice/behaviour/attitude MAKE SENSE. YES! -Bethesda stole a few things from the Gothic series that I liked a lot. Well, the ore mining animation makes my own back hurt 'cause it's so bad, but that's about it. =D -I had about 3-4 crashes in about 20+ hours of gameplay so far. thx. <3 -I CAN ACTUALLY DIE IF I ATTACK SHIT LIKE A RETARD (anyone remember when you walked up to a Skeleton in Morrowind at lvl 1 and got oneshotted? <3) -This radiant story shit has me hooked. Randomly assassins and or thugs appear to kill me, in the note I find out they were sent by some fellow who I robbed without even noticing cause he slept next to stuff I needed for a quest. =S -PLAYING TAG AND HIDE AND SEEK WITH CHILDREN? FUCK YES! =D -Morrowind feeling: Mainstory? Main.. story? Fuck off, gotta help those townpeople first.
Does anyone here have thoughts on how many playthroughs will be needed to see most of the content if you're into roleplaying crap? (aka no changing sides when it wouldn't go well with your previous choices.)
My general plan atm is to make one playthrough as a male battlemage who runs around in heavy armor and makes stuff explode, is full of honor and helps people and then one as some female assassin type who joins the brotherhood and rips people off.
What would I miss with those approaches? =S
So far I found one major bug in the "Waking Nightmare" quest and a fix to it on the interwebs: + Show Spoiler +When you follow Erandur into the Night Caller tower, it might be that he simply isn't there with you if you just walk past him. What fixed it for me was to talk to him again once his speech is finished and he draws his weapon but BEFORE he enters the thing. Then after a few seconds I entered and he was there.
Some popular mods over at skyrimnexus which I recommend: + Show Spoiler +
Random Questions to other people: -How much fun is Sword Shield / 2h for you guys? -How much fun is Archery for you? -How much fun is stealth/dagger crap?
Bonus Question: Is anyone playing beast-races and if so, how does your environment react? Anything what you really enjoyed there?

Honestly, Archery/Stealth/Dagger wouldn't be nearly as fun if I wasn't doing the Thieves Guild/Dark Brotherhood shit.
Other than that, it's pretty fun. Borderline OP, even for Archery if you do it right.

Are there any quests for your companions? RPS mentioned something about that but I haven't seen anything about it elsewhere.

"Approach Master Borri and he will gift you his knowledge of Wuld"
Made me lol :D

I'm playing 2h and loving it. I haven't gotten to play much due to work, lvl 6 or 7 I believe, but really fun. Using an enchanted greatsword I found in a dungeon I did for a quest. Also The character customization is just awesome! I'm playing a big musclebound 2H wielding nord that looks like he belongs in a blackmetal band. I love how with 2h you do so much damage and you can see it in the physics, and how in combat you have to manually dodge attacks since you don't have a shield.

The graphics look great on 360/ps3/low anyway but only THEN can i see the issues some people say, i got no problems from where im sitting.
I have it on the XBox and I think the graphics are awesome.
Good its directed at the people complaining the graphics arent epic when indeed they are, i would say you cant truely comment untill your seeing it on its perfect level.
This game is truely amazing..its 5:15AM and ive been playing since 12pm yesterday lol, 17 hour stint FTW! and im still nowhere near anything. I attempted to get to those greymane (beards? something..) for the main quest, discovered a GIANT cliff i couldnt get to them with and then found some awesome log bridge over a giant waterfall (where i animation stabbed a bandit and watched her fall down the waterfall, epic.) then to find a tomb with some sweet elven armor (and a new companion) then gave up and fast travelled back to whiterun where i spent 40 minutes smithing sweet armor / weps for me and lydia. then i got the coach to riftsomewhere (place of the thieves guild) and im completely sidetracked again..
that all happened in about 3 hours and is absolutely nothing XD I was a werewolf before that...
EDIT: Tomorrow im going to make a thread for all the fixes to crashes / bugs etc i have found along with .ini mods. It will be a compilation of links / quotes and hopefully people will find it helpful, will ask you all to post your fixes in it so i can update it with them for the masses

so i turned intoa werewolf and killed every1 aside from the unkillable npcs.... god i feel so fucken horrible.. i killed my wife too ... every kid walks by goes like I HATE YOU ... T.T guys if u havent tried werewolf mode.. its basicly godmode as long as u kill eating the corpes. funny thing is , just run to a place to hide.. turn back to a human so the unkillable npc wont still try to kill u. After all this i realized that if ukill all the gaurds u can commit as much crime as u want. so lucky i saved b4 the rampage tho...

Jesus Christ...
"Tale of the Lustful Argonian" or whatever
That was the most horrifying thing I've ever read in my life.
