Having fun with it. Was a bit of a struggle to get working though. I am having some small freezes every few minutes. otherwise it looks awesome. Even on low settings. ITs got me in the elder scrolls mood. Going to play oblivion after this one, then daggerfall, then morrowind. rinse and repeat.

TES series is best when you impose certain restrictions on yourself, otherwise you can get rather overpowered/abusive. I prefer to keep the limit on the number of potions I carry for healing/mana/stamina at around 7-8 total. Useful in a pinch, but against a truly more powerful foe I don't stand a chance. For example + Show Spoiler + Krosis, the guy who guards one of the Words on the mountain above Whiterun, hooooly shit I ran my ass away from him so fast after getting hit by the first fireball. I also like to keep all my useful combat abilities hotkeyed so that I can do most of the battle in real time. Pausing is for wimps Whats the fun in being engulfed in a gout of flame if you can just jump to the menu and pot? I prefer to scramble for my hotkeyed ward spell to protect myself. In any case, combat in Skyrim is a massive improvement. Many of the scenarios you find yourself in are really fun too. When I was trying to get a mammoth tusk (a task which often ended in death for me haha) I only succeeded in the end because I came across a mammoth being attacked by two saber cats and just helped focus it down. It raped the crap out of the saber cats anyway though. Edit: oh shit, 6k = archon! Just spam summon flame atronochs for Krosis. He only does fire damage and they are immune :Þ WIN. It does take a few minutes though ^^

Or did the game just assume I'd appreciate the hot chick to cover my ass regardless? (Not that it'd be wrong.) It's a chick anyway. Somehow, I lost her though. No idea how, can she even die or is she just stuck somewhere?

Also your followers cannot die unless you kill them. Be very careful about using fireballs and such on hard fights where your follower hits 1 hp, since you'll instantly kill her.

I either have that Dark Elf priest from Dawn Star or some sellsword from Markath follow me because she had such a negative attitude and never intrigued me with interesting banter.

Also had a thief come run up to me and ask me to hold his booty, then a troll came in killed him in mid sentence. Another guy comes running soon and talks to me, asking me if I saw a thief, he gets killed by the troll as well, being thrown hundreds of meters away by a blow. Hilarious random situations. + Show Spoiler + lol, i had those two guys as well. Since the thief threatened to kill me if i dont have his junk with me at all times i just told the hunter where he is and watched him do his manhunt.

It's very close to Winterhold ( mage place ), You get this mage follower there and she's pretty bad ass, you can even equip her in heavy plate and she'll be casting chain lightnings on everything in between summoning minions and chopping heads off with her sword / sniping with her bow. Also your followers cannot die unless you kill them. Be very careful about using fireballs and such on hard fights where your follower hits 1 hp, since you'll instantly kill her. Yes you get her after completing the daedric Azura star quest. She's quite nice, beyond the lightning bolt she got stuck in my fucking head for like 4 hours til it went away. So I ask again, as no one answered =( =( =( Anyone got any clues on further daedric quests for the sexy items like the azura star, skeleton key, etc etc Never got them in daggerfall (as far as I know they were there but I was like 11... and only got 3 in oblviion.

On November 13 2011 10:22 Spessi wrote: Anyone have advice or stories on thier preferred combat role? So far I've taken a sword and board character to 9 (might be ten now), and to me, it seems like really...unless you put a lot of points into your shield, it's better to just dodge. Against anything that hits REALLY hard (like with a two hander; or a dragon/mammoth/frost troll) you really need to avoid it, or you take more damage than a normal unblocked one hander swing, and against most normal one handers, with the exception of like...captains, you really can just ignore the damn shield and hack away at them, and just back up if you need to. I'm afraid to re-roll and go pure caster, because as stupid as it sounds...i want to be able to block...even though i feel like it's sort of pointless most of the time. Two handers are slow as balls so idk about those. I haven't quite figured out what a melee/caster hybrid would look like, or if it'd really just be a caster that switches to a dagger when they really need to. Try dual wielding weapons, im having good fun with it atm :D and you can easily switch from sword / board as your already specialised in one handers. Wouldnt be able to block though its more fun then slow ass 2h'ers. I guess the only melee / caster hybrid would be a sneak mage - gank something for x18 damage and if it isnt dead shove a fireball up its ass and watch fire erupt from its mouth. Sound good? On November 13 2011 10:52 liam33 wrote: should i get this for ps3 or pc? PC 100% - I would say as long as your PC is capable, although it still looks pretty epic in low gfx. PC for the mod support. Endless replayability once the mod-goers get on a roll. On November 13 2011 11:19 Tula wrote: what is a good enough PC for this game? Considering the screenshots in this thread i have doubts if my old trusty PC will be able to run it, even if i can run SC2 with middish settings. So a laptop with an i5 2520m and gt540m / 4gb ram can run it medium ok-ish, low perfect and you can bare with it on high. Tested myself. On the other hand a i5 2500k, 8gb ram and 560ti makes it look epic! :D

But given bethesda's previous track record (i.e. fallout 3), they probably wont.

then found a camp for a quest like a 30 second walk away filled with like 10-15 tusks. I'm mad rich already. I'm about to buy the house in Whiterun and I'm only level 4 now

My Dual Core 2,91ghz AMD and 512mb vram GTS 250 got defaulted to medium on 1920x1080, so it's not super demanding. I haven't checked my FPS but I think I'm running on pretty low though, only notice this when riding a horse and the game seems to slow down a little.

But given bethesda's previous track record (i.e. fallout 3), they probably wont. Im getting tired of this - It is 2 days after release, bethesda's "track record" is poor releases with multiple issues, all fixed within the first month, if not weeks, if not days. Not everyone has these issues and quite alot of them have been solved through .ini modifications and further fucking around. Look at the scale of the game, there are bound to be issues to iron out, especially considering its quite clear they didnt put the greatest amount of effort towards us PC gamers. The issues around PC will be fixed (if not already, ive had no stability issues since release except the mouse lag on my GF's laptop, which i fixed in under 5 minutes. No crashes, No FPS drops.) weither by bethesda or modders. Man up and wait it out.
