If it's static that you're hearing, then this might be the solution:
In the volume options, in the advanced tab, turn down the sound quality from 24 bit 96KHZ to 24 bit 48khz.

I don't see the problem with the interface, other than that the favourites menu bugs on me a bit.
zZygote I think you need a special enchanted weapon that loads charges into the soul gems. It says something like " if the enemy dies within 3 seconds from hitting with the dagger, the soul gem gets a charge" I had a dagger that said something like that but I think I sold it stupidly.

correct me if im wrong but dident the devs say that the dragons where supposed to be super awesome and they could sweep down and kill giants and other creatures?
if so that certainly was not the case for me when i got a dragon and giant to fight, the giant killed the dragon in 4-5 hits and was at 80% hp afterwards : ((

lol, for me it was like 3 mammoths and one giant vs a dragon and me on the side, dragon died in one second and afterwards i became a prey. I jizzed in my pents, ran as fast as possibly in a place with a narrow entrance. It took me over 150 arrows to kill them all ~_~

edit: wrong thread ((((99

I just fought my first blood dragon :D
The previous dragon battles haven't been quite as epic as I had hoped, but this one was great. TES series is best when you impose certain restrictions on yourself, otherwise you can get rather overpowered/abusive. I prefer to keep the limit on the number of potions I carry for healing/mana/stamina at around 7-8 total. Useful in a pinch, but against a truly more powerful foe I don't stand a chance. For example + Show Spoiler +Krosis, the guy who guards one of the Words on the mountain above Whiterun, hooooly shit I ran my ass away from him so fast after getting hit by the first fireball.
I also like to keep all my useful combat abilities hotkeyed so that I can do most of the battle in real time. Pausing is for wimps Whats the fun in being engulfed in a gout of flame if you can just jump to the menu and pot? I prefer to scramble for my hotkeyed ward spell to protect myself.
In any case, combat in Skyrim is a massive improvement. Many of the scenarios you find yourself in are really fun too. When I was trying to get a mammoth tusk (a task which often ended in death for me haha) I only succeeded in the end because I came across a mammoth being attacked by two saber cats and just helped focus it down. It raped the crap out of the saber cats anyway though.
Edit: oh shit, 6k = archon!

Anyone have advice or stories on thier preferred combat role?
So far I've taken a sword and board character to 9 (might be ten now), and to me, it seems like really...unless you put a lot of points into your shield, it's better to just dodge. Against anything that hits REALLY hard (like with a two hander; or a dragon/mammoth/frost troll) you really need to avoid it, or you take more damage than a normal unblocked one hander swing, and against most normal one handers, with the exception of like...captains, you really can just ignore the damn shield and hack away at them, and just back up if you need to.
I'm afraid to re-roll and go pure caster, because as stupid as it sounds...i want to be able to block...even though i feel like it's sort of pointless most of the time. Two handers are slow as balls so idk about those. I haven't quite figured out what a melee/caster hybrid would look like, or if it'd really just be a caster that switches to a dagger when they really need to.

^^I do sneak archery (I'm wood elf), I have every piece of armour possible enchanted with bow damage boosts (I think I have a +40% damage boost from my armour?), and my boots muffled, and I have the x3 sneak attack boost from the sneak skill tree
One hit everything ^_^. I once got a crit hit on top of the sneak bonus and eventually 3-hit a giant, that was pretty epic tbh
I also have some basic one handed skills because nothing is more sweet than an old style assassination with a dagger

hm, I'm stuck on a quest where you are supposed to learn a translation by breaking in to a museum. When you find the translation however you realise it's on a giant stone slab so you have to find a way to copy it down, but I have no idea how to do that? The journal doesn't say anything helpful, when I try to interact with the translation stone it says I don't have all the required items to do that, but it doesn't tell me what I need and I havn't been able to find anything useful in the general area. Any help would be appreciated.

To be actually helpful, there is a soul siphon spell under Conjuration tree. But really, not hard to figure out. (In fact I know I saw it as a loading screen tip. )

I have 70% only from Head, Ring and Hands parts and I think the highest I had it was like at 110% or something.
The amount of damage from sneak attacks becomes absolutely hilarious lol.

uhh, anyone else encounter an issue in the Markath prison where you can just use one of your shouts to go through a wall and escape rather easily?

also: did anyone find out how the "forging the books" thing works? every shop has a book in some upstairs room that reads "press 'e' to forge numbers" but i do not know what it takes to be able to do that.

+ Show Spoiler +I just got my promotion to Thane and I do wonder, if I was playing a female character, would I get a hot dude as protector? Or did the game just assume I'd appreciate the hot chick to cover my ass regardless? (Not that it'd be wrong.)
