I tried it. It's like a cheap console port of some low-budget game.
I don't really mind the UI that much but it does give a bad impression and is annoying.
Worst thing is the different sensitivity on x / y axis, and looking up requiring massive moment of the mouse while it's really sensitive when moving to the sides. I can't play like that.

Have you looked in the options function? there are some wonderful things in there. If skyrim does actually have no sensitivity adjustment, i will eat my king sized bed on stream and do a naked dance for day9.
96/100 based on 52 reviews. That's all I need to read to know your opinion is just... your opinion.
Not that I'm saying those Skyrim reviews have no merit, but GTA IV is 98/100 on Metacritic.
Yeah, there are examples of "WTF?" in regards to the scores that some games have achieved on Metacritic, that is without doubt. However, I often agree with most commercial game reviews after I experience it for myself. This combined with the fact that the things it's being praised for, are ultimately the reason I have purchased it. (see: Ridiculously big open-world )

Maybe its just you ? Mine is working fine like in SC2.

theres quick spell button "q" then you press 1-9 to bind spells to them.

The mouse accel. issues can be fixed via console commands I think. There are quite a lot of people (whiners, mainly) on the official forum discussing the problems with the UI (and coming up with fixes), so you're not alone on that. Kinda glad I ordered the PS3 version now, though that will no doubt have its own fair share of bugs.
I hate lazy ports with all my heart and this game's interface is terribad... It's literally mocking me... So... you have a cursor there on the screen... weeeeeeeeell... you can't use it here, sorry... Or, if you can it's gonna lag. But, wtv... I think I'll just take it since the quests so far seem decent and there are no other RPGs to play. And although the graphics might be a little outdated ( it's easy to get good looking ss, believe me, that doesn't change the horrible textures in some areas ) at least the environments have some solid concept art behind them and the game ends up looking great.

what NONE of the reviews mention an original plot or a unique plot. which was my complaint. Skyrim/morrowind/oblivion pretty much all have the same plot, while the first two are nearly identical, and the latter the most unique (but still not original by any means).
in morrowind you are "the nevarine" a chosen one said to bring peace to morrowind by killing the evil god who is destroying the land.
In skyrim you are "the novakim" a chosen one said to bring peace to Skyrim by killing the evil dragons who are destroying the land.
hell even neh vah reen and noh vah keem are so similar in the way they sound.
I hate chosen one stories as they are the easiest thing to write and usually the fallback of any game that wants to make a game that is not about the main storyline, but has to have a storyline. it's usually also an excuse as to why you seem to be able to accomplish goals without difficulty.

I think maybe my upped mouse speed(ingame) effects the x axis and not y. Which is a very strange way to go about making a menu.
I haven't even gotten into any real combat because the sensitivity made me quit after I couldn't find my xbox -> usb cord. I didn't think about how using menus that you can't click and no hotkeys must be like.
Anyway I think future mods or an xbox pad are a must for playing this.
i just turned the game off in frustration. was looking forward to it for most of the week, in the end i turned it off like 5 times in the first hour while looking up solutions for various problems (mouse ones being the most dominant, like it being unusable in interface, turning off mouse acceleration, different sensitivity for x/y axis, etc)
it has ruined my experience so much that i have no desire for the game anymore. didnt even make it out of the first dungeon. terrible console port.

Oblivion doesnt have that depth. Fingers crossed for this
Morrowinds plot isn't deep at all. the lore and setting of morrowind does EVERYTHING to make morrowinds plot not unbearably stupid.
people get plot and background/lore confused so often. the plot is the story of the protagonist and his journey to his final goal.
when you introduce a chosen one into a story, it forces a rigid line in which the end goal is along a straight path, since it was foretold or prophesied. the plot of morrowind is not about xenophobia, the tension between imperial troops and natives, it's not about the dwemer even, they are only a tool in the plot to explain the existance of the ancient weapon to kill gods.
morrowind plot: Mysterious chosen one -> learns of antagonist -> finds an ancient weapon to allow him to win -> kills antagonist.
the plot is so stupid and straightforward. Morrowind's plot is flawed. hell at the start of the game you can go find a book that will tell you exactly what you will be doing the rest of the game. and the book is 4 pages long.
I didn't say the plot was deep - i think we actually agree, though you do exagerate a little, it's not actually shallow compared to most games (literature yes, but not other games)
If we get half the setting depth, lore that we did 10 years ago, I'll be happy

My only gripe so far. Definitely feels like a console game sloppily ported to PC, which is really f'in dumb considering that the vast majority of TES's fanbase are pc users.
That being said, I'm really enjoying the actual gameplay thusfar. The world feels completely huge and encompassing.
