Also, on giantbomb.com/live Greg Kasavin of Gamespot fame is running a marathon until midnight...tuned in earlier and he plays pretty decently, and I love his commentary. I liked him as a journalist on Gamespot and liked his Oblivion marathon, so this is pretty much the best gameplay stream I've found. edit- high site traffic, tune into justin.tv/giantbomb instead if you can't connect to the URL above.

There is a huge modding scene for Oblivion and there probably will be one for Skyrim too. If you buy the game for PC now it will probably play the same as on PS3. If you replay it again in a year or two you will have the option to tailor the game exactly as you want it and even add more content for free.

Oblivion was insanely overrated by the gaming media but to be fair the first 10 hours of the game or so are fkn amazing and make you think its the best game ever...once you get beyond that you realize its really no more than an average game. How many reviewers wouldve actually gotten to that point? Thats why you dont buy games based only on reviews D:

Getting it on PS3 btw. they are made for 1st person view, i havent played skyrim yet, but the other ones look weird in 3rd person.

I wouldn't worry much about the UI, modders will have an alternative PC friendly UI within a week. just as they did with Oblivion.

Not really true, while oblivion was poor in 3rd person, it was basically the only way to really play morrowind because of the attack animations. Also with fallout they moved to over the shoulder view instead of directly behind view and i haven't used 1st person in a behesda game since. It is all about what you are used to i guess, but how are you going to get the full visual effect of you hi res weapons and armor covered in blood splatter if you are in 1st person.

The few posters saying it's fine give me hope, but prepare to spend about 10 minutes focusing on how to control the UI to prevent being frustrated when it comes to crunch time in combat. Also, I've heard the Y axis has no sensitivity control. -_- Anyone actually on the PC version yet?

But, at this point I think it's obvious the hero Modding community is going to have to step up again. To do complicated things like, integrate the mouse into the menu selections, make uniform ways to confirm "yes/no" and to scale down the size of the Fonts, once again, built for someone witting 10ft from the TV.
