I couldn't really get into Oblivion even though I tried multiple times but I've read/seen so many good things about Skyrim that I'm gonna give it one last shot. Only a few more hours :O.

i thought it was universal opinion that oblivion was a pretty bad rpg, and a passable hiking simulator. i mean you even get references in skyrim previews of how bad oblivion was and how fixed compared to it skyrim is. or are you arguing that bad writing, bad animations, bad voice acting, generic worlds, nonsensical story and level scaling make for a 10/10 rpg?

Buying it tomorrow, I'm slightly afraid that it's going to disappoint me like Oblivion did but hopefully not.

First of all. Oblivion was not a BAD RPG. Was it the best? no, I would put Morrowind and a ton of other RPGs as "better". We're not arguing over whether or not the game was a 10/10 game. We're arguing over your claim that bethesda as always spent a lot of money on reviewers which is bullshit. Don't make stupid points and then argue your way onto a topic that's completely different.

Dude all devs in previews talk about how bad their last game was. It makes the improvments sound so much better and wins over people who didn't like previous installments of their series. Oblivion was great, especially with mods

I had the EXACT same problem as you. I eventually just forced myself (with the help of a friend) to start up the Dark Brotherhood quest chain (this was about 2 days ago) and now I'm actually enjoying Oblivion a pretty good amount. I'm almost disappointed I'm going to stop playing it when Skyrim comes out tonight. I guess I can go back to it when I get bored of Skyrim... one day. Install a shitton of mods into Oblivion, it'll be a good "in between" when you get bored of Skyrim 24/7 :D

Yes, and when someone asks for proof, "obviously Oblivion" isn't proof, it's your opinion. Whether or not I think Oblivion is a 1/10 or a 10/10, and same goes for your thoughts of the game, you can't just say that Bethesda pays off critics for good review scores without having hard proof of that. Just because a reviewer doesn't have a bug that happens in his 15 minute playthrough of the game doesn't mean he was paid off to "miss" it. TBH I find bugs that reviewers don't find, and I don't find bugs that reviewers find in a LOT of games I play. It's unfair to assume the company bribes for scores, anyways.
