how can you not like the radial Ai thing?
This is their next step to fantasy world simulation, its what they always tried to do. Bioware is for scripted immersion, Bethesda throws you into a world that does its own thing and you can participate.
The system obviously is not a replacement for handcrafted content yet, but that isnt out of the game anyways. Just think about what they can do in their later games when they continue to develop an overarching AI that directs the world dynamically.
Also, in Morrowind it always was a bit sad when you finally fought your way to the top of a faction and then you could do nothing with that anymore except having a title in your charscreen.

Just to tease you guys some more: I'm from Belgium and as some of you may know, the game was released a little early here (read: It's been lying in stores for almost two days now). I've played for an hour or two now and I'm really impressed by the visuals and the music, even on my aging xbox360. I've a feeling that this game will be a lot better lore-wise than oblivion. Right off the bat you'll hear stuff about conflicts between different Yarls, conflicts between the empire and a rebel group (not unlike the Ashlanders living on Vvardenfell) etc. This really gets me excited because Oblivion felt rather empty in that department. I'm also quite curious as to what has happened in the 200 years between the Oblivion crisis and how since that's a huge gap of time.
Voice acting has improved massively, by the way.

Sounds great, but could you put it in spoiler tags just incase people don't want to know

Oblivion was garbage and morrowind was awesome. skyrim looks alot more promising then oblivion, and if skyrim sucks im never purchasing a Bethesda game again.

Wow, I think you hit the nail right on the head there.

It would be difficult for me to point out how many ridiculous extremes you went to in this post...
Modded Oblivion was a great game. Better than most of the RPGs that get released nowadays.

Any word on strongholds in Skyrim? The stronghold options in Morrowind (House Redoran and Telvanni and Hlaalu) were absolutely amazing. In Oblivion they were a bunch of houses (tho the haunted one was fun). I'm really hoping Skyrim has at least one extra-ordinary stronghold. Be it your own little town, a mages tower or a mini-keep, give us something nice!

Anyone streaming Skyrim gameplay yet? I want to watch ^_^

There's no reason to address people with different opinions, everyone has their own.
I couldn't make myself play Morrowind for more than 10 hours, but I played Oblivion for hundreds. Just liked Oblivion a lot more. Doesn't make me right, but it also means their opinions aren't any more important than my own. In fact, I could care less what random people on the net think about Oblivion, and it'll be the same for Skyrim. :D

That is only about 8 hours before it gets released in Europe anyways, but if you're like me you'll gladly welcome the extra time Depending on how many of you want to unlock your games using this connection, I will need some kind of plan to schedule who gets to use the connection when, etc. Do you guys have any ideas? I'd like to have a system where the time I need to spend on managing it will be minimal, since I want to play the game Handle it via steam chat, that way you're in game when people are bugging you for access. So I want to get my game pre-downloaded.... You give me login info, I go and download. Hurray. I tell you I am done, you get the next person the login info. They go in, they are done. You tell next person the log in info... etc. Well, nobody has to use the VPN to download. You can download it locally (preload should be available everywhere by now), then log in via VPN , start steam, double click the game, then Steam will decrypt the game files, then you disconnect the VPN again and play as usual. I also don't think I can let people download the entire game from that VPN, since it's a 2day trial with very limited bandwidth. edit: anyways, I'm off to bed now. Coming back to check on this tomorrow morning. I went ahead and bought the vpn trial for me and my friend to share. 14 hours of skyrim for $2 is worth it. Don't want to wait till midnight to start playing. That site is very easy to use and reliable. Would recommend it for anyone thinking about it, kind of hard to find an Australian vpn. The things I do for skyrim.. Is this easy to setup and use? I'd probably pay the 2 bucks for this but I'm not sure how to use it. Really really easy, you install the software then log in, select the australia server (should be default) and click a connect button. That's pretty much it, make sure to buy the OpenVPN one. When skyrim comes out use the vpn to decrypt the game files then set steam to offline, and turn off the vpn. Don't log back into steam before skyrim comes out in the united states without the vpn otherwise it will probably mess up the skyrim install. People did the same thing with battlefield 3 and deus ex, you can't really get banned for doing this unless you purchase games with the vpn. You sure this is 100% safe? If so, I'm doing it! We all did it for Battlefield 3 and it worked like a charm. I'd say half of the people reading the TL thread were all playing 12 hours before the NA release date thanks to almost this exact method. I suggested this on another forum but the people there said Steam unlocks at midnight EST. I confirmed this is true for all of the US (i.e. the west coast unlocks at 9:00 their time), but are there any sources saying if the unlock time is different on other continents?

I wanted to unlock BF3 early because I had work the next few days for like 10 hours a day.
Now I got nothing.
So it's going to be like I'm a little fucking kid again. Waking up at 6 AM all giddy and shit, rushing to my computer after getting a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal and just playing the day away.
The game isn't going anywhere people, and if you got the next few days to play it away -- don't get it early. It ruins the meaning of playing it for the first time, ESPECIALLY a fucking Elder Scrolls game.

Australian steam store. Click skyrim and it will tell you the release date time left based on your time zone.

Apparently there may be as many as 250 people in line for the midnight release at mine. That is going to suck... I heard MW had like 1500 so it could be worse.
