The multiplayer is fun, but I noticed the lack of engineers like myself. And latency issues.

I guess people are still trying to find out wich combination of skills/strategies/classes work the best for them, ive noticed lots of infiltrators and vanguards, guess sniping stuff and rolling into combat with a blast is funny :S
I personally like the adept the most, but just because i really like stasis, gives you an edge on battle as you can get rid of most of the enemies for a given time during combat.

Yeah, multiplayers is really buggy at the moment, ive noticed lots of times that some enemies randomly get stuck in between walls, and for example in noveria, some of them dont even make the effort to jetpack from the ledge into the landing area :S so you need to snipe them from the sides or toss AoE weapons towards them.
Also sometimes i get to reload only 1 grenade instead of 2 or 3, dunno whats up with that.
Got any random disconnect from the server? XD
Yesterday i was doing my stasis/snipe combo with my asari adept when suddenly a "wild phantom appeared", my team mates decided the best way to flee was towards 2 turrets and an atlas, that didnt end up well, as i was sniping stuff i was somewhat far from them and proceeded to let them die :D (yay teamwork) thing is, i targeted stasis on the phantom and it never actually placed the phantom on stasis... after a couple revives and lots of energy lost i had no choice but to take it out with a rocket :S Well random stuff like that happen on the multiplayer, hope they fix that because it can really make you lose a game in no time.

Overload spam! High damage, chains and knocks anything down.

Also, for the post above, phantoms can dodge biotics and tech when they do their lil ninja roll flip move, it's not a bug.

Of course i know they can dodge.. almost all units have some sort of dodge move, i wasnt saying the phantoms where actually avoiding beign hitted by the biotics but rather they where hit continously by stasis but the spell didnt actually "freeze" them on stasis, it has happened to me 3 times on noveria, in the "reverse L shaped" catwalk near the landing zone (where you start to the right)
If i had basic video recording skills i would try to upload the videos showing the bugs, but.. im not bragging or anything i have good accuracy, and im telling you i DID hit those phantoms repeatedlly but it never actually affected the target :S

Probably lag. Was so bad for me one game that I couldn't even pick up ammo. Had to play the last waves with 0 ammo unable to hit anything.

The thing that really turns me off about engineers is their pet skill. I don't like drones/turrets that have to be recasted every time they die, and additionally wait for them to do damage in their own time frame. I like having immediate burst damage. Overload, incinerate, mines/grenades, cloak/charge warp+X for biotic explosion.
Other classes seem like they need less babysitting.

Engineer is my favourite character so far. Overload and Incinerate can deal with anything. Low cooldowns and spam the shit out of these. I got one point in the drone so i can deal with guardians on my own. Other than that it's pretty weak but the other skills more than make up for it.

Played a few gold games today. I'm a decent player without any tricks, yet I noticed how much effectivness (point wise) dropped for two of my favorite classes - human soldier and turian sentinel. And for the first time I noticed that adepts were useful and they were in no 1 and 2 spots. Soldier's granade skill gets less grenades on every pickup depending on difficulty and basically makes them absolete when you can't move freely on gold. Shotguns seem much less effective only because you can't go in like a rambo, or commando if you prefer, and take everyone out with precise headshots. Leaves you with your weapons and skills which obviously are more effective for those who can disable much stronger enemies on gold.

It almost seems that everything that doesn't feel most effective on silver (don't count bronze, you can melee everyone there, mb except atlases) is effective on gold.

Weapons I noticed right now is 3 pistols (don't have carnifex), 3 sniper rifles, 3 smgs, 3 rifles (don't have revenant or ravager, not sure what was the name) and 2 shotguns. Maybe someone has noticed more of some classes?

Good teamplay makes games satisfying, right now it still feels fresh for some reason, even with my almost non-existant excitement.

Leveled up quarian engineer and her turret seems basically useless (on silver), low dps and I have it upgraded.

hey guys i never played ME before and I just had a question. I dont have much money to get it all 3 games but I will buy ME3. But for now I want to play ME 1 or ME 2 before ME 3 comes out. Do you guys have any suggestions? Which one is better to get? thanks!

ME1 has more of a classic RPG feel to it but the game can be clunky in parts (combat is meh) and mako exploration can be tedious.

ME2 has less RPG qualities but much better combat, and also has a tedious minigame in planet mining.

So essentially ME1 for an RPG and ME2 for an RPG-Shooter.

Adding to Zasz., Mass Effect 2 loses depth in exchange for a streamlined game experience when compared to Mass Effect 1. If you play Mass Effect 2 before Mass Effect 1, you may find Mass Effect 1's game play intolerable due to its unresponsiveness, limitations, and aimlessness. When the series is played sequentially, the story is more enjoyable because the gameplay improves instead of worsens. The first game is worth playing because of its mystique as a space opera as compared to he second which is a hollywood blockbuster affair.

Bioshock 1 and 2 are analogous to this idea. Bioshock 2 is a segmented story and better game experience, but it gave up some character in the process. It is better to play Bioshock followed by Bioshock 2 -- Bioshock 2's combat innovations make Bioshock clunky otherwise.

If there is only time to play one, play Mass Effect 2. It's "Dirty Dozen" game style is satisfying. Keep your eye out for a digital discount as well. With ME3 coming out, EA would generate hype by placing the first two on sale.

I played ME2 first, then ME1. And ME1 is MUCH better overall. Strongly suggest ME1 over ME2 IF you have to choose. Mako planet exploration is THE MOST AMAZING part of the game by creating the atmosphere of different planets!

If you want a verdict judging by demo, then you should re-read some posts. Overall it's much more ME2 than ME1.

If you care about the story of ME3, either buy ME1, borrow it from a friend, or read the plot somewhere online. It should only be around $10 max. The gameplay experience isn't quite as good (it's not terrible, but it's not as good as ME2) but most of your squad in ME3 will essentially be your squad from ME1, so getting to know those characters is nice, and most importantly, ME1 gives you the best overall introduction to the universe the game is set in. ME1 was designed to acclimate people to the IP, ME2 really wasn't. I think if you play ME3 having played ME1 but not 2, it will make a lot more sense than if you just played 2.

The downside of not getting 2 is that you won't be able to import a Shepard, which totally sucks and is reason alone to get 2. That being said, the story of ME2 isn't all that important in the grand scheme of things. ME2's important story DLC (Arrival and LOTSB) could have just as easily been DLC for ME1 and then ME3 could have basically been a direct continuation of ME1. ME2 fills out the universe a lot more, introduces you to a lot of new characters and places that you didn't see in the first game (ME1 takes place in citadel/human space, ME2 takes place primarily in the terminus systems) and answers a lot of questions about things in the universe that you might be wondering after playing the first game. In the end, however, ME2 ends with the same problem ME1 does, and its story does nothing to really advance the overall plot of the series that culminates in ME3.

Basically if you want the best story experience, buy ME1. If you want a better gameplay experience and the ability to import your Shepard into ME3, buy ME2 and the DLC comic that lets you make all the critical decisions from ME1 (should be about $20 total) and read up on the plot from ME1 so that you understand the decisions you're making in the comic and know what happened in the first game, because the first game seems to be much more relevant to the plot of ME3 than the second.
