So, a teaser for folks who want to see the new map.
Me, Minomino, and Serejai were building spawn and when we finished up for the night, me and Mino went to explore some of the awesome terrain features.
This map is mountainous, its got floating islands, it's got natural cliffs that go above the clouds, it's got waterfalls, magmafalls, and this is all the area within eyeshot of spawn.

Right through the opening in the cliff, is spawn. Can't see it in the picture, but it's there. There were another 5-6 of these off in the distance that we didn't check out. It's gonna be SWEET. Can't wait to see some of your evil lairs high up on the clifftops.

Hosting issues have been resolved, however the server will remain offline until tomorrow due to a group of Team Liquid members griefing the old server and hacking items into the game, which caused the world to become corrupted and unplayable. I don't want a small group of bad players to ruin it for everyone so I'm working as fast as I can to get things back up, but unfortunately I need to sleep soon and probably won't finish tonight
Do you mean the test server, or was the real new server one was up? Cause I thought the test server was meant to you know test how well it was to hold up to griefing an the such like lava an explosions. Cause if that wasn't the case I'm sorry I think I contributed to some of it  I had infinity TNT given to me. It was fun but I didn't think it was going to do any lasting permanent damage.
edit: I can't read, you mean't the old server not the test one /facepalm

Nice, ya I reserved an area like that near spawn. I think it should still be there unless the server was completely wiped. From the sounds of it just a few hours were lost. I definitely like this world better than the previous one already.

We have a brand new world, a brand new spawn, a brand new everything.
I know it sucks but the only way to fix the corrupted map files was the start 100% over again.
That said, don't build things you know you're not supposed to, for the sole reason of breaking the server.

do we get another /kit new for people who join the server early again?
also, does redstone still lag like hell? i think that's one of the main reasons the original server was getting so messed up. i also think buckets were fine, as we had like 20 waterfalls and a giant canal going at our base up north and it wasn't lagging at all.

You should make an update in the OP of what things NOT to build.
i.e. I knew lava/water thingies might be buggy but I didn't know about cobblestone stairs.

looks pretty much like the north area we had, except we didnt have any lavafalls and i accidently killed the natural one we had. (to be replaced with lots of artificial waterfalls)

yea there were probably around 30 ish artificial water/lavafalls (crap ton, plus water holes everywhere and down to my digging hole + off the map ) and a few cobblestone stairs (not enough to see if it does anything bad)
i also dont really think exploring significantly increases server load (really the server stores the chunks not in memory especially after memory is garbage collected, then loads/generates it up when somebody comes to use it), but i havent seen it server side
didnt have any redstone crap. that stuff is horrible, personally having lights can be subbed with torches which are probably way less buggy than circuits

We should seriously have guards that can spot griefers, and if you grief - you're banned.

While I'm not condoning any griefing that was done, many people were rightfully frustrated yesterday lol and I doubt it will happen when the new server is fully up and running.
