Free stuff? <_<
Is this still going on, if so I'll run over there, I did everything I had to do today already.
Oh, nvm, it's a standard tournament ><
My only standard deck is one I pieced together from 2 sealeds and 2 drafts.

I asked earlier but got no responce, so I am asking again: are there any websites one would recomend for reading up on the lore? Before I quit I was quite the lore buff and am curious to see what has been going on in the world of MTG (specifically the Phyrexia lore).

Well I'm no lore buff, but considering the latest set besides M12 was new phyrexia, I'd imagine they are doing fairly well off.

I know. Yawgy was such a good character (espicially in The Thran). I want to know how things went for him after the Invasion. But I don't want to buy all the books to catch myself up *having not read any since Ravnica). I was hoping someone could point me towards the current big-name lore site.
The two I used to read seem to have died. :/

http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/
This is the site that I use for lore. It's the most comprehensive one I've found so far.

Karn became a Planeswalker and created a new metal-based plane called Argentum. He also left a "probe" device on Dominaria called the Mirari. The Mirari was outrageously powerful and caused a lot of strife as different heroes, champions and villains pursued it. Eventually, after a series of events, Karn got Mirari back and gave it a sentient body called Memnarch. Karn tasked Memnarch to be the overseer of his new plane of Argentum.
Karn then, as Planeswalkers do, began travelling the multiverse. But not before dropping a little bit of Phyrexian oil on the surface of Argentum. If you recall, Karn's heart what that of Xantcha, a Phyrexian sleeper agent. Memnarch cleaned up this oil but it began to corrupt him. The oil continues to spread, gradually pushing Argentum (which Memnarch renamed Mirrodin) into a Phyrexian state. Memnarch dies after some stuff that I didn't read, but the oil is still around.
The oil's presence leads to Phyresis and Mirrodin eventually develops into New Phyrexia. New Phyrexia is unique from old Phyrexia because it is not solely couched in black mana. Instead, every single color has been co-opted by the Phyrexians. The Phyrexians are led by 5 "Praetors: Elesh Norn (White,) Jin-Gitaxis (Blue,) Sheoldred (Black,) Urabrask (Red,) and Vocinrelex(Green, spelled way wrong.) Karn, has been captured by the Phyrexians, who believe he is their "god-leader." Voila.
EDIT: Phyrexian Praetor cards
Elesh Norn Jin-Gitaxis Sheoldred Urabrask Vorinclex

From what I understand:

So after the first day of testing, Pyromancer's is really REALLY strong. I turn 3 or 4'd zoo pretty consistantly. Games that I didn't have pyro's though I died pretty quick. Zoo was pretty fast too. Overall the format seems to be crazy fast with mid game being on turn two >.>

So I am downloading MTGO again (damnit), and I just found out about this "Modern" format. Sort of curious about it?
Can you play it on MTGO? Do people play it on MTGO? Is it actually popular?
The reason I ask is I last played during the Lorwyn/Conflux(?) block and I had a deck that was absurdly broken in that block and unless Modern is silly broken it should still kick ass. If you know anything about modern is there a reason this deck would not work (I'm WAYYYY outdated on the current game state)

I am installing it again myself this moment. I always liked playing the duels of the planeswalker to get used to some of the new mechanics. Last time I played for a real game it was in the 7th edition which was pretty basic.
I am interested in an answer on this as well.

I dont think modern is out online yet, i think it was JUST announced/released. So I'd assume it would be a while before it transfered to mtgo

Very true. You can play modern, but you have to put "Freeform" and type "Modern" in the notes. That's at least what I see people doing in casual room.

meh.. cawblade doesn't really have many expensive cards nowadays since Jace is banned.. really just the swords and gideon..
also you do actually have to be a good player to win with cawblade, the reason it's a good deck is because it rewards good play, not because it's loaded with super expensive cards..
personally I'm not a fan of the deck though..
If someone is looking to try out a fun standard deck, I reccomend RUG Pod with splinter twin combo in it. Deck has so many ways to win and is really fun to play..

Caw-Blade in Extended isn't that expensive compared to other decks. It doesn't have Tarmogoyf, after all.
I'm going to be playing SCG Boston tomorrow and I'm not liking my chances. I've been practicing Value-Pod and doing all right with it but all of a sudden there's probably going to be a ton of Valakut due to tournament results last weekend. I might have to audible back to TwinPod just to have a better chance against Valakut.

Modern will be an official MODO format starting on the 24th (next Wednesday), with 2-player queues, 8-player queues, Daily Events, and Premier Events (the first on the 27th), leading up to a Modern Championship on September 11th.

That's good to know, so anyone got any ideas on the deck and if it's still viable? I know NOTHING about modern.
