If I am reading this right for standard the following sets will still be usable or not usable at the end of Sept.
•Zendikar (until September 30. 2011)
•Worldwake (until September 30. 2011)
•Rise of the Eldrazi (until September 30. 2011)
•Magic 2011 (until September 30. 2011) •Scars of Mirrodin (Usable until announced) •Mirrodin Besieged (Usable until announced) •New Phyrexia (Usable until announced) •Magic 2012 (effective July 15, 2011) •Innistrad (effective September 30, 2011)
I am just not sure when the Mirrodin and Phyrexia sets will no longer be usable under the standard format. I haven't got any boosters for Mirrodin and Phyrexia yet just a few of the M2012 booster packs. Should I bother with Scars of Mirrodin, Mirrodin Besieged, and New Phyrexia or wait for Innistrad and just focus on the core and innistrad cards?
The list of sets you have is correct, M11 and the Zendikar block will both cycle out of Standard when Innistrad is released. Scars of Mirrodin block will once the next big block is released (after Innistrad), in September 2012.
If you want to have a competitive Standard deck, then you'll definitely need some cards from the Scars block, I have no doubt that Spellskite/Dismember/other ridiculous free phyrexian things will still play a huge part in standard after the next set is out.

I'm thinking of dropping 1x Summoners Bane and 2x Phantasmal dragon and putting in 3x Deprives

also they banned glimpse, good thing the entire modified combo elves deck costs less than a single Tarmogoyf (seriously wtf) You and me both, but I'm glad it happened. I didn't want to play 10 mirrors of the damn thing. yeah I guess, since you are actually playing in events. I just had it sleeved to play casuals and be a dick to people who just took Modern-legal cards out of their EDH decks to make 60 card piles :V

Adaptive Automaton is just worse than GA though. Once lightning bolt rotates out (this deck is almost entirely safe against the rotation), the 3 toughness will be the difference between dying to cheap red removal and not.
The Vapor Snag in there is kinda out of place with Into the Roil already in the deck. Phantasmal Image already does a nice titan impersonation, and by the time they get one out they should be almost dead, or you'd lose anyway. I like Preordains over the snags so you find your creatures better.
Also, GA lets me put Mindslaver in my deck and play it on turn 4. That'll screw up any control deck badly, cast their spells and blow counters on them, suicide their planeswalkers, tap all their crap, etc.
One hitch I've run into with the deck is that you have to play it like an aggro deck. Even if you have counterspells, you can't just land-go the first few turns or you're going to lose to decks with better lategame plans. I fell into that trap (keeping lands with only 1 creature and a buncha counters on the play) and never win a game that I don't mull that hand.

First Modern Daily event on MODO ended a few hours ago. The 4-0 decks: Affinity U/G 12post R/G Shamans (?!?!?!?!?!) G/B/W Melira combo (with Pod and not GSZ) Elves Mono-G 12post
I'm looking forward to seeing the Melira combo list. It played out really well in the replays I watched.

The Melira combo is janky.
I am testing RG Land Destruction specifically for the Cloudposts match up.
Reveillark infinite is bullshit though.

Alright, cheers alot for the advice - what do you think of the updated list?

Link to the replays? I need to see the RG and the Melira decks.

The Melira deck was Viscera Seer (I assume other sac outlets too) + Melira + Kitchen Finks and Murderous Redcap for infinite life/damage respectively.
There was no R/G shamans deck at all (although it does exist). It was Splinter Twin (and he beat lsv to get the 4-0).
From the other modern tourneys, the winning decks were 12 post, Dragonstorm (which, funnily enough, won against a martyr of the sands + Serra Ascendent + Pridemage deck that somehow got to the finals), and Zoo.

I need lists though. That's what I mean.

Just came home from a draft. Opened Sorin Markov in pack 1 and 3. Not the most broken bomb, but he was a lot of fun to play with. Controlling your opponents turn is fun when he has a mind unbound with 6 counters on it. So many fun options!
Ended up killing most of his dudes then discarding all but 7 lands in his hand. He decked himself a turn later.

There certainly was an R/G shamans deck in the first event. The Splinter Twin deck you're referring to was in the second event.

Aaron Forsythe confirmed Garruk Relentless is the double sided card planeswalker with 5 abilities.
<3
Also werewolves look like they were tailor made to kill control decks dead, but they seem kinda bad against aggro decks, who tend to cast spells a lot more often.

You think so? She's certainly going to be playable, as at worst a 3-mana edict, but I don't think she's all that special. Her ult isn't very good, so she doesn't work as a finisher for control decks, and her + ability eventually becomes bad as the game drags on. In beatdown, she's a bit slow. So I'm not quite sure where she fits in. I would say she's really good in a midrange MBC-ish black deck with Abyssal Persecutors, but...Zen is cycling out.

She's not SS, or even S. It depends on what else is available. I could see her +1 with Chandra's Phoenix (or some other recurring creature). Meh, depends on the on the other decks.

I have visions of a mono black control deck with some cheap blockers (that 2/2 for 1 zombie for instance), lili, flashback spells, Vengeful Pharoh, Phyrexian Obliterator, and Grave Titan/insert finisher here. If Innistrad gives us some good hand disruption then it might be viable.
If we don't get many good black flashback spells, better hand disruption (Duress and Inquisition are rotating), or a better black finisher, I think she's gonna be pretty bad.

Ehh...we'll see. The reason I say this is because of Smallpox which can be difficult to play around for a lot of decks.
