To be honest the biggest problem I have with reach right now is the maps. I don't know what the fuck bungie was doing but the only good map they have is Asylum. Literally. And multi-flag is the worst gametype now. I fucking love playing flag but having to stand directly on the flag for 30 seconds to return it is absolutely retarded. The only time I haven't tied in that gametype is when we were significantly better than the other team.
Actually Cockpile is the worst gametype but whatever. The Cage is an absolutely terrible map, I don't know what you guys are smoking if you think it is playable. You cannot win if you don't hold the top and there is no way to take top control from a good team.
I think there is potential. I haven't played a DMR start on that map though. Have you?

Yes, it was awful.
If you have a good image of the map in your head I challenge you to find a good way to take top control from a good team. The one thing that could possibly help is the power weapons are all down bottom, which doesn't mean shit when you get jet packs and the sniper is literally next to the lift back to top side.
Here's my stats btw: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/CareerStats/default.aspx?player=Venrae

It's just an FPS. The only reason i see a gamer buying this or CoD is because ev'rybody else did, your friends did, the previous titles dried out of good players or are no longer being patched, supported, or because you're bored with the previous title.
If the game's ACTUALLY good doesn't matter, one thing i can tell is, that it's not worth the money, but hardly any game is these days. If you care about single player, read a book, don't suffer through ancient gameplay.
I rather fire up my PC and play Quake Live, it's so old and nothing comes close to even challenge it when it comes to games that are not an fps with realistic weapons bullshit where your aim hardly matters due to RNG. The skill cap's super high aswell, it's the BW of FPS games. UT's great aswell, but not as popular as i'd like.

It depends on whether or not the sniper is spawned. If you can grab the sniper from a team that has the top, you can pick them off, but overall, top control is too strong.

What?
So you are saying the only reason people play FPS games is because friends play them? What the hell is "It's just and FPS" supposed to mean?
If the game is good what doesn't matter? How can you tell the game is not worth the money It's a great multiplayer game and the campaign is fun, it's not deep but it's fun.
I play Quake, I play CS and I play TF2, what RNG's are you talking about? This isn't not WoW and you do know the reason Quake is so good is not because of the aim mechanics (which are pretty much the same in all game except for CoD and it's breath and ironsight gimmicks) but because of the movement. You know that right?
Just for the record. I am not a Halo fan in fact this is the first Halo game I've bought and I HATE CoD with a passion, that's why I don't like SWAT.
Now keeping with the Reach discussion. I still think Armor Lock is a bit OP specially in decent level pug's. I'm gonna toy around other game modes besides CTF and TS.
I would appreciate if someone would give me some gamertag's of people running good custom's. I just used to party up with a friend of mine that knew a lot of people but he isn't playing Reach. I don't even know if gametag's is what you need to find custom games to be honest :p
Again here is my gamertag: DoctorOoo if you want to play with a casual, kinda of bad TL member

Take this discussion elsewhere please. This is not the place for it.
Custom games, as far as I know, are only between friends still. I wish all systems followed the original BNet system. It was so far superior to any other system, imo.

There's nothing to Halo, there's nothing innovative or new about it, there's nothing better about it than other FPS games like Quake, Half Life or UT. I don't see a reason to play it other than other people or lack of experience with older titles.
Also you can't have a conversation about a generic FPS game without mentioning of other titles. Unless it's a fanboy thread.

Customs are still friends-only, but you can just send friend requests, and then a game invite. I'm fairly certain they don't even need to accept the friend request to send a game invite.
You can also send game invites to people you've played with recently in matchmaking, though they tend to not accept them.

Seriously? You were just warned for this, and you're continuing? At least be smart and edit the shit out of there.

Yeah, I forgot that option existed. I'm still living in the days of Halo 2.

Tbh, this is not a very good game. I won't say terrible, because I love the Halo series, but its pretty bad. The gameplay is ok, and the campaign is decent. The two things holding this game back are the game modes, (many of them just are not fun), and the absolutely TERRIBLE maps.
They are awkwardly designed, and some of them (especially big team battle) are so big that only half of the map even gets used. You literally have one half of the map covered with fairly intense action, and you could camp the other half the entire game and not see a soul, unless he spawned there and trudged for 45+ seconds over to the battle.
The action feels a lot slower paced than any of the games before it.
You're on blood gulch, an enemy gets in a tank. You can't just take the flying elevator out to the middle of the map, grab the rocket launcher, sneak through the gullys and blast him or die like you did in Halo 3. There is no flying elevator, there is no rocket launcher, there is just a huge, open expanse of poorly made map between you and the tank. You instead sneak, slowly, boringly, around the side of the map and try to flank him. He sees you, and you die, only to respawn at your base, ten thousand light years away.
/end rant
p.s. its bad, I am disappointed

This is the second thread on this game. The first one was closed because everyone argued about how it sucks compared to quake akb48 super friends.
I don't care.
Then the thread was remade to talk about Halo. Talk about this game in this thread. Compare this game to other games in another thread.
For the dense who don't get it, image a group of people sitting in a living room. You are talking about a new game. What is good, what is bad, how to play. Then some donkey comes in and says THAT GAMES SUCKS PLAY QUAKE LIVE IT IS THE ONLY TRUE FPS ALL OTHER NEW GAMES SUCK.
That guy is not cool. That guy is you.

Hi mani
I'm super happy with the forge =] I've spent like five hours on a multiflag map and I have basically nothing done with it. The controls are super awesome though and I love all the new features. I'm just not sure how/why the co-ordinates affect the different pieces differently. Kind of annoying =\

I'm a little conflicted about forge actually.
I absolutely love the idea of forge world, and I love all the crazy stuff you can do, like making the warthog the hill for KotH. Plus, now merging walls and stuff doesn't take hours of effort and reloading the map a dozen times. I also love that there is no more limit on the number of custom content items I can have saved on my HDD. If I want 20 gigs of saved maps and game replays, I can totally do it.
What I don't like though, is the moniter controls. The way it works now, where the object you're holding stays in place and you move around it, is a pain in the neck when you're working in an enclosed space. Trying to spawn things in small rooms becomes a huge hassle; you pretty much are forced to spawn the stuff outside and drag it in.
On a side note: You take way too much damage from moving objects, especially vehicles. I'll pull up in my warthog to let people get in the gun or passenger seat, can't stop quite in time, nudge them ever-so-slightly, and they die. I then get booted for betraying
