The campain for Reach was pretty good and i played legendary right away and i felt the diffrence in difficulty. i really liked how they tried to bring back the feel of the first Halo with the sniper level and night vision but honestly i dont think it was that important to have them besides for nostalgia. Multiplayer on the otherhand is awesome, its so much fun and i love the DMR, and i always felt the BR was too strong in that if you were playing to win, you better have picked up the BR. I like experimenting with the new weapons and the reticle system they added is a pretty neat feature to prevent spam shotting with scope weapons. And i absolutely LOVE Invasion though i wish they shipped more maps than Spire and Boneyard. On the downside though, i absolutely HATE DOUBLE MELEE. Its so uncool how a total scrub can just sprint up to you and double melee for the win. Frags are pretty OP and i honestly dont know how they could allow them to kill you at full health with your shields no more than halfway gone. The maps are pretty good except forge world *the only one i think is pretty fun is Hemmorhage on capture the flag / invasion slayer* If i could rate this game i would give it a 4/5 a game with absolutely perfect potential, dropped down to just above average because of some things bungie thought would be cool, but werent.

They need to give four of each nade type back. Having 4 total pisses me off so fucking much. I guess it kills some of the 'nade spamming, but it also takes away from a lot of the game. I think 'nades are powered pretty well. It's 1 nade + 1 shot, the way it should be. The new shield rules are dumb. I was just speaking with a friend about it, and the idea that a sniper round to the chest taking two shots with just a sliver of shield left is stupid. If that's the case, then it should take two head shots as well. Where it hits should have no effect on the effectiveness of the round.

I love that they brought back the lock on with the Rocket Launcher (though only with flying vehicles). And I love that the new weapons in general are decent (All the new weapons in H3, mainly the Brute weapons, were absolute garbage). Also, has anyone figured out how the placement works in Arena? I got put into the Iron Division, but I think I should have been placed higher. : / Oh yeah, and they FOR SURE could have picked better maps to remake. I'm interested to see what Halo 3 maps they decide to bring back.

They have melee set up so it doesn't penetrate shields... so you put 3-4 shots in someone, they have 1% shields left, you melee them, they have 0% shields and full health.. lol? You actually need to melee them again or shoot them again(in the head) in order to kill the person. you melee someone from 100% shields, they now have 0% shields, lol.. so why does the first scenario not kill them.. the game doesn't make sense the way they have it set up You can't go shot shot melee like halo 3... which I like.. but some of the melee battles in this game are just silly.. If I shoot and they sprint at me to melee me, I go shot shot melee melee.. all they have to do is melee melee.. I most of the time die in this case

I've had this game for a couple of hours, Really liking it, but so far I feel like I'm being beaten by the game not the players. I own stuff on SWAT because I have decent aim but in regular maps I get destroyed, specially Elite Slayer. The need to take out the assassination animation, it can be stopped (in fact there's a medal called showstopper) with a well placed head-shot which sucks because you can't sneak in assassinate 1 or 2 guys and shoot whoever is left so "Rambo Moments" are not as common. The Armor Lock... Really Bungie... I mean, REALLY! There has to be a downside to using that thing it lasts too long it does damage, negates stickies, and you can pop it even if you are like 1 bullet away from death? It is too powerful in team games were there is some little coordination. All in-all the game is pretty solid. To this day it's the only FPS I play on consoles and that says a lot since I'm a hardcore CS/Quake player. The sound engine is AMAZING. Much better than the H3 sound. It's a lot easier to position people with audio now. The guns are great, I haven't seen anything OP yet but grenades are... yeah same ol' spam will get your ass like always now they just do it a little better. Really looking froward to what MLG will do with the game. I saw they had a more serious ladder up now I will try to get into that if I get a 4v4 team going. I would love to play with some TL'ers. You can do regular assassinations without the animation. Just tap the melee button instead of holding it down. Voila.

In fact, you deserve to die if you're holding it. The armor lock is kind of a bitch, but it's not that amazing. Even if you're in a room with a 4v4 battle --which should pretty much never happen, because almost all battles should be played cross map, except objective games that force you into CQC, or if you're trying to regain control of a specific position I guess (either way, medium to long distance fights are the best way to fight most of the time)--and a guy armor locks, you attack the other three, and if he comes out, he'll be really easy to kill. The only time I've lost to an armor locked guy was when a friend threw a fucking retarded grenade and killed me with it. I have no idea what was going through his head at that moment, but I was DMR battling this guy on Ivory Tower in the sniper hallway, and he armor locked, so I switched to either sword or rockets, and then my friend threw a grenade which hit me right in the back and blew me up. He apologized immediately, but we lost position, and eventually the game. Armor lock is a HUGE bitch on Zealot though, now that I think about it, since all that fucking map is is corridor battling, and by battling, I mean grenade spamming. That's definitely one of the worst maps ever made in Halo.

It's difficult to say what the worst Halo map is - there are so many 'strong' contenders, especially in H3 (Epitaph, Sandtrap, Snowbound, Ghost Town, Orbital, Longshore, etc).

H2 had its fair share too. Backwash (although I did enjoy owning that map as hard as I did... I sword/invis whored the whole game... unbeatable), Containment, Desolation, District, Foundation, Gemini, Headlong, Ivory Tower, Terminal, and Waterworks. Those were all bad maps. You left Foundry off that list, too. Man that map was the WORST, UGH. Rat's Nest, Sandbox, Sand Trap, Avalanche.... Bungie just gets lucky on the good ones, it seems. I wish they'd bring back maps like... all of the H1 maps, but not make them awful like they've done so far. Damnation, Prisoner, Derelict, Wizard, Longest, Battle Creek, Hang 'Em, Chill Out... man, those maps were so much better. Timberland and Death Island from CE PC were okay too. Maybe the MLG guys can recreate these maps in forge. That'd be so sick.

Like I said I have only played the game for a couple of hours (close to a day now thou). The problem with Armor Lock is that in theory it's OK but in practice is much better. My issue is in fact in 1v1 battles not 4v4 clumps. I start shooting the guy right after he losses his armor he pops armor lock for it's full duration giving one of his teammates enough time to come and finish me off (since I was weak from fighting him before) he comes out if it, retreats and is safe. The start-up and the recovery are too fast and the duration of a full lock is too long. It is also possible to counter power weapons with it. I myself have popped the lock when I see someone shoot a rocket at me or if I find myself fighting a mid range fight with someone that has a Needler, it shoots so fast that a lot of times people waste a full clip before they realize whats happening. I find Zealot OK actually. What I have been doing is using the gaps and openings to light people from a distance. I avoid corridor fights unless I peeked at them and know they are coming. There is one map I haven't played but I saw on Forge that looks TERRIBLE and a nightmare to play in: Spire. Can anyone confirm if it's as bad as it looks? I want The Pit and Guardian back

There are good to excellent remakes of some of the H1 maps you mentioned, by the way. Damnation Prisoner Hang 'Em High Also check out originals (courtesy the MLG Forge community): Genome Leviathan Rendition Arhkangel: Spire sucks, IMO. There's a fuel rod cannon right at the base of the lift outside the spire near the mini-base with 14 freaking rounds in it. It's as if they want you to lift up and camp top spire, which is fun for a little bit until you realize you're totally bored. I've played it other ways, of course, but still haven't had any interesting games on it yet. It's all been kinda the same game over and over again. Strangely enough, the BTB map I've had the most fun on is Paradiso. It probably won't win any Forge map awards, but most of the games on it have been fun.

Multiplayer is awesome, and forge is even better. I have seen some of the MLG maps listed above, and I have downloaded Leviathan, it's awesome. Right now, I have abandoned the SCII Editor for a while to play around with forge, because it is amazing. I started as a Halo 3 forger, went to SCII to make maps, somewhat failed at that, so I'm going to get to work on some MLG-style maps. The multiplayer map pool is ok, and the new voting system is way better. I hate Zealot for some game types because of the space area. SWAT is stupid, because it is way too easy to headshot people coming up out of the gravity lifts. Otherwise, Zealot is a sick Heretic-style map. Countdown is awesome, The Cage is awesome, but gameplay on it is kinda mehh, Paradiso is sick for BTB, Hemorhage (sp?) is god awful. SWAT is like a sneaky knife and dagger fight, with people clutching the sides of the map. Same with snipers. On CTF, if you don't get a team that knows what they are doing, it can be incredibly one-sided. Asylum is amazing, Reflection is ok cause of the gameplay, ditto for Boardwalk. Boardwalk, Reflection, and The Cage all revolve around one point on the map. For Boardwalk, it is the high elevation, for The Cage, it is that elevated spot after you get off the gravity lift and walk up that ramp, and for Reflection it is the top area, where the conveyor belt thingy is. These maps are not necessarily bad because of it, but it limits gameplay a lot because fighting will usually take place in certain areas.

To be honest the biggest problem I have with reach right now is the maps. I don't know what the fuck bungie was doing but the only good map they have is Asylum. Literally. And multi-flag is the worst gametype now. I fucking love playing flag but having to stand directly on the flag for 30 seconds to return it is absolutely retarded. The only time I haven't tied in that gametype is when we were significantly better than the other team. Actually Cockpile is the worst gametype but whatever. The Cage is an absolutely terrible map, I don't know what you guys are smoking if you think it is playable. You cannot win if you don't hold the top and there is no way to take top control from a good team.
