Ok. So I've been playing Lineage2 for 3 years, then WoW for 5 years and Aion during the beta so I have "some" expirience with MMORPG. After watching some video presentations yesterday I got a hype from the upcoming GW2. It really looks great, and I think it's gonna feel great. The PvP looks kinda weird (which is the biggest factor from every game to me...That's why I play starcraft since I was 8 DUH!). But I really wanna play it and see how it works out.
Can anyone explain me smth?
Firstly: how competitive 5v5 is going to look like? I mean if in WoW you have to crowd control the enemies, watch out for Diminishing Returns, peel, defend, blow cooldowns very smart. How about GW2? Is it going to be this smart? I mean I just always hope that it's gonna be by one pure formula: "Skill > All" - that's the main ingredient of a good game (PurePWNage reference).
So basically yeah, who had a chance to play some pvp in a gamescon or w/e can you give me some insight for it.
Secondly: how the 1v1 works? I mean is the main factor "dodge everything and place traps/bombs/auras" smartly or smth? I don't really get it.
Thirdly: Can you switch insanely in the combat between your weapons hence changing your style of combat? For instance, a warrior. Get a 2-handed weapon, do some big-ass attack, jump back, put on a shield, defend smth with smth, get a 2h mace, stun, get a 2 one-handers and make a shitton of damage while enemy is stunned?
I mean I can be completely wrong with that ^ but I would love if some person would give me full info about the pvp combat.
Thnx.
P.S.: if there's gonna be a beta, I'm gonna definetely be in one. Interested in a skilled player: hook me up with a party/guild.
P.P.S.: have never played GW1. Heard about it, but after reading the gw1 article about how pvp is completely unbalanced because of 100 different profession combinations etc., I totally threw any thoughts of this game aside.

You can't switch weapon sets while in combat in GW2 (at least that's what's been said so far). I think the same goes for skills, so you need to pick your sets carefully before engaging an enemy (seeing how Elementalist can have 4 skill sets and 4 different weapon sets, each of which gives different bonuses and requires different approach). This will make it a bit more tactical, but at the same time game mechanics make it closer to games like Savage 2 or Age of Conan, where combat is much more dynamic, with a lot of movement, positioning, using terrain for jukes etc.
Basically, you'll only stand in one place if you need to cast spells with longer cast times, besides that it's FPS-style non-stop on the move.
There's also no mana involved so I guess skills might be spammed really hard (oh, energy denial, how will I miss you).
P. S.
Could anyone who got to play it tell us if spike builds will still be possible? Dropping someone < 1 second was something that made GW1 really stick out from the crowd.
