So far the elixir gun is the only kit that I don't absolutely love, but I can't bring myself to equip three weapon kits and use them all so that they are worth the utility slot. I'm thinking of giving Teldo's build a try because I was doing something very similar with Flamethrower/Bombkit, just not nearly as optimized. Does anybody have a lot of experience with the Medkit? I've tried it a bit, but the med packs you drop on the ground don't seem very effective.

Medkit is very good with it's short cooldown.

Maybe I'll work with it a bit more then. Since you were the one who recommended Teldo, maybe you can tell me why he uses Pistol/Shield instead of Pistol/Pistol or Rifle? I'm using Rifle at the moment because the utility of a immobilize + knockback is pretty nice. What is he gaining from Pistol/Shield that is better than that?

one good place is in the giant lake with all the platinum in that zone right below lions arch. you also stack platinum as well which is a good thing. it makes leveling a bit more fun considering you're actually hunting for mobs that give bonus xp edit- I have 11k karma, is there anyway to convert that into gold with a decent ratio?

Pistol/Pistol is usually for more offensive burning/swiftness builds. It's very fun but not too popular in structured games. Rifle doesn't have the condtion or control that the shield build does. If you go rifle you need to be a power build. Considering that 3 & 5 aren't very good for defending and don't work with the other stuff. While power builds are fun, they're pretty glass cannon-y. Rifle + Bomb/Flamethrower don't meld as they're more condition based. For shield, you can build the traits effectively with good gear. On top of that, shield skills 4 & 5 are a lot more useful for defending points. 4 reflects all shots and 5 stuns. 4 also pushes people off points. The build is based mostly around defending points and shield is just better for that.

But after you hit 80 wtf do you do? Games like wow and aion after you hit max level you start gearing/raiding for pvp. But in gw2 since pvp is seperate what do you do end game? Is World vs World vs World separate like PvP where you get a generic character and start playing?

You use your normal PvE characters, with the skills/gear you've unlocked. However, once you enter the WvWvW area, you're automatically scaled to lvl 80.

Is World vs World vs World separate like PvP where you get a generic character and start playing? The game is new, so it's impossible to judge whether or not ArenaNet will be successful in their goals, but right now when you hit 80, instead of gearing up for pvp, you pvp. Alien concept I know, but the vibe I'm getting is that they would rather you enjoy the action itself rather than performing the action simply to make your character better at it. sPvP has an even playing field for all participants, where the more coordinated and better synergized team will come out on top, balance issues aside. WvW scales you to 80 but retains your skills so that there is an inherent advantage to being high-level. There aren't many dungeons in the game yet but I am assuming they are planning on including "raids" of some sort, although it will be interesting to see how they accomplish this with no holy trinity and everybody responsible for their own survival for the most part. Considering that I am taking my sweet time exploring and crafting in addition to questing, there won't be much left to do at 80 except enjoy WvW and do high-level dungeons. And that's OK because that is probably when I will start doing sPvP with another character. With no monthly fee there is no need for ArenaNet to try to force you to grind in their game. It seems like they would rather get you to enjoy the game, and thus possibly shell out on microtransactions. Seems to me like people are focusing entirely too much on reach 80 as fast as possible, although the point about being able to do anything once you reach it is a good one.

Can't you just PvP? ;S I mean people play DotA2 just fine even though it doesn't have leveling or equipment or stuff. Naked Lunia was also a TON of fun for a very very long time. By the way Lunia still, to me, is by FARFARFAR the best PvP MMORPG and playing it with naked characters was incredible. I'm guessing nothing will ever top it, too bad no one plays it anymore...

As such, it's impossible to dodge directional attacks or play PvP in a meaningful manner. In general I enjoy those situations in PvP because I just drop as many bombs as possible until I'm forced to abandon the spot, but it doesn't help PvP be competitive when you can't tell what's going on.

We were doing good in WvWvW a few days ago, but the latest match up has us facing a blue team with a bunch of Australian guilds, so no matter how well we do when most of our server is on, it all gets taken back over night. I think alot of people kind of gave up after a day or two of that.
