I enjoy exploring the map, the world is beautiful and the jumping puzzles are a nice touch, but the questing feels like a lot of "run here, kill this, now run here, kill that" with everyone basically moving in huge herds zerging down each group event as the most efficient way of grinding experience. The lack of Holy Trinity, while awesome for PvP, really puts a limit on group dynamics as far as I can tell so far. That said, this game is fucking awesome. WvWvW is probably the most fun I have had playing an MMO since Vanilla WoW.

Not that many quests (and not "special" ones by any means). Events which are "random" (and also not exciting at all, you just get loads of experience very fast, VERY easy), if your lucky you swim in experience, if not you find yourself wondering why your are 2+ levels behind the content you "should" do next and run around hoping to be lucky and "find" an event. The experiences i had with the 2 Chars i have on lvl 10-12 are very diffrent... One was ahead of the curve at certain points, the other is starfing for XP wherever he goes... Really not that tought out if you ask me.

Here was my dungeon run. Mobs sprint into a room, we all just rush at them, wack at them a little bit kill them and revive the one or two guys that fell and move on to the next room. The bosses are a little better, but without a designated tank class, each boss has essentially been designed in such a way where it promotes kiting and or just straight dodging of obvious aoe damage spells, which really puts a limit on the sort of mechanics they can integrate into boss encounters, knowing that the boss can't actually be allowed to hit that hard with anything unavoidable or else risk one shotting all of the combatants.

Well... My first WoW dungeonrun was basically us all killing stuff while 2 healers healed us, we didn't even have a designated tank and it was faceroll... I don't think the first dungeon is indicative of much

There's very little reason to race to level 80 in this game, and as a result there's little reason to try to maximize your experience gain. I craft because I can use the food/weapons I create as upgrades, as well as positioning myself to be able to make some money from the trade house as soon as it opens. I also save all the green items I get, whether or not I can use them, in case there is a market for them once the trade house opens. If there isn't, I can salvage/vendor them, but I'd rather not dispose of them until I know for sure. Between crafting materials that I can't deposit as collectibles and random other stuff I am saving, inventory space is a huge issue. Just thought I'd share my reasoning for why I am rushing to 80 so that you can understand the logic behind it. Firstly, I like to play games quickly and level through the game quickly. The main reason is simply that once I'm level 80 I can do everything. Anything I want, there's no limits. Due to how the game works with scaling down, I would say by exploring as you go and being slow you are limiting your options massively. When I'm 80 I can play with all my friends wherever they want. I can PvP, WvWvW, carry on crafting and so on. I can do every dungeon, zone, vista and boss. Whatever, whenever. I'm having trouble wanting to play with my friends in lower zones because I know it will be slower. I'd much rather get 80 and come back. I have limited time and trying to keep up with my friends without full-time jobs is getting difficult but I'm doing well. I love blasting through a zone and seeing 70% of it before moving on to another. I get to see at least part of most of the zones and get a big sharable experience. I can gather a bunch of stuff as I go and if I deem it too much of a detour to get something, I come back later. Yesterday I went from 33-38 in about three hours which is amazing. I saw a whole load of one of a big zone, got a bunch of skill points, vistas and materials and because all my friends are helping eachother with crafting materials, I'm not lagging behind in the crafting department either. Just to pitch in with dynamic events - I think they're really fun but they can make or break levelling speed. I did Gendarran Hills 100% (didn't take long at all) which is a 25-35 zone. I went in at 28 and left at 32. Why? Well I'm not completely sure, but my money is on the fact that six of the dynamic events I came across were broken (mobs not spawning and, most commonly, escortable NPCs getting stuck). Due to this, the next events didn't start and I think I missed out a load of experience here. Conversely, when I was in the Norn 25-40 zone (Londar or something) I hit loads of events and blasted through levels. I found one that was a really short defend event followed by a really easy "kill a veteran" event. That five minutes gave me about 30% of a level. If you find an event going on around a renown heart, you're laughing. I've not decided if this is a good thing or not, if you can take advantage of it then you'll reap the benefits, if you can shafted by it, it's frustrating. A different example of dynamic events screwing you is in the Norn 25-40 (again) there was an event to defend a pirate captain which I did. Little did I know that by doing this, the zone would no longer be populated by the pirates you need for the renown heart. I got about 60% through from the event, then was wandering around for ages trying to find the items it gives you. Another annoyance. (Side point, I love the game, Engineer is the super fun in PvP - if you like surprising sustain combined with outwitting and controlling your opponents in PvP and you're on the fence about Engineer, give it a go. Kit swapping is great, condition managing is great and you have lots of ways to save your friends. I don't have the exact build now, but go look up Teldo's Elixir Q/Flamethrower/Bombkit build. You can find a link from his twitch page - /Teldoo.)

I also don't think you get enough equipment from quests... I'm playing as Engineer and the combat at least seems quite fun, though I really need to customize my layout because the last number keys are just completely out of reach for me. I also don't really like how you're completely dependent on the random events for leveling up, as if you don't get them frequently you're forced to clear other starting zones. Not that that's a horrible thing but even so. The main quest line has been pretty good I think, the story hasn't been anything spectacular but it's still surprisingly good, still think that you shouldn't have to level this much in between the chapters because it makes you disconnect from the story so much. Overall I really love the combat and I like the graphics as well. I also like how they're innovating with the quest system somewhat but the early levels still feel quite tedious... I think I actually prefer the way Maple Story deals with the early levels, it's much more fun to grind when you already have more interesting skills. lol seriously... I lost count of how many times I had to stop my "personal story" to sidetrack and go gain some levels doing other random shit all over the world map.

Went to WvWvW to celebrate but Ehmry Bay sucks at it lol. When I went, we had like 1 supply camp in all 4 battlegrounds.

More like 70 to help you in the final push to 80 because of less hearts at that level range. Getting exp at 80 is kind of pointless unless you're still lacking skill points for some reason.

![]() And my concerns are indeed mostly related to the gear (I don't mind visiting multiple zones or doing some PvP to get that exp, I enjoy the game anyway)
