I never played GW1 but does that mean you get premade pvp equiped character and you have to make different one for campaign ? pvp and pve are separated ?
|
a pve character has access to pvp and pve. while a pvp only character has access to pvp only. you can make them seperate if you want if you totally want to exclude your pve character from pvp.
|
IIRC didn't PVE characters usually have better gear come level 20 than the premade PVP characters?
|
The general idea is this:
If you create a PVP character, your given a set of skills and items to work with. Your limited with what you start with, but your more than competent to compete in the PVP scene.
PVE characters start at level 1, require leveling and gear through dungeons, but have a much wider access to what they can equip and choose from. Typically the gear and such you find with your PVE character can be used with PVP characters. So its a good idea to make at least one PvE character to unlock all of the gear and skills in the game, so you can use them with your PVP only characters.
Most people will simply have a PvE character and once they high enough level, play PVP with it. So that way they get the best of both worlds.

If any of those weapons aren't the exact statistical equivalent of the PvP only items, we're going to get another month of "HOLY SHIT SPEND ALL DAY MAKING ENERGY SWORDS AND LIEUTENANT HELMS"

Loved the first one and definitely going to get the second one. About PvP and PvE characters, I think that I saw somewhere that you just need a PvE character and when you enter a PvP area your character can use all of the PvP items like in the first one. Not 100% sure on the details and I will look for the article later.

No, PvP characters with all the equipment unlocked are the same as PvE characters with the max equipment

Resilience was a good idea!
Wait...
I cannot wait for realistic world pvp again. GW2 cannot come out fast enough.

As a follow-up to the previous news post regarding item drops and looting in general, ArenaNET decided to scour the internet for the most common questions and answer them on their blog. While most of these questions were well answered before int he many interviews, there were a few new ones I think most will find interesting.
Here are some examples that you may have not known:
Q: Will a resource node vanish after a player gathers from it? It would look really weird to see other players gathering from empty space.
Eric: No, the node will not simply vanish. As it is currently implemented, the resource node goes into a used state on a person-by-person basis.
For example, if you were mining a copper node, you’d see the veins of copper metal disappear from your screen as you gathered until the node was just a big chunk of empty rock in front of you. For any player nearby that hadn’t used the node yet, the copper veins would still be visible to them until they gather all the copper themselves and exhaust the node. So when your friend is gathering from a copper node, you’ll still see them whaling on a big hunk of rock and not just swinging at the air.
That should solve most all problems with camping nodes in general, and it will also allow groups to work together to obtain mass amount of a given resource.
Q: Are armor bonuses fixed or determined randomly? How does a player upgrade their armor stats?
John: The inherent bonuses on armor are fixed. However, the player can enhance their armor by applying crests to their armor. A crest is an upgrade component with unique abilities that can be applied to the open upgrade slot on any of your six light armor pieces. For example, you could apply the Crest of the Legion to your gloves to gain +10 intelligence, apply the Crest of the Dragon to your boots to get +100 health, and so on. The more matching crests you have on your armor, the greater the bonuses.
Interesting. So the question remains, just how many crest types will there be?

Wait...
I cannot wait for realistic world pvp again. GW2 cannot come out fast enough. "World PvP" in gw2 takes place in a different world from the pve one. PvE characters will be able to access the pvp world where the battles will be comparable to warhammer online.
On October 08 2010 06:36 bmml wrote: IIRC didn't PVE characters usually have better gear come level 20 than the premade PVP characters? Nope, in pve you'd have to buy enchantments/insignia to customize your gear and in pvp you would unlock the same enchantments and insignia through pvp currency.
PvE characters were able to pvp aswell and most top players did so before they added unlockable pvp item skins. Basically in GW1 all items had the exact same stats before enchanting them, all that counted were the item skins which only served a cosmetic purpose. And rare skins were the most expensive items in the game. Later on in EotN Anet made it available to unlock pve skins for pvp items and added a couple pvp only skins to advertise their automated monthly tournaments (which no longer awarded money to the winners).

Still hoping Guild Wars 2 will be very different from the previous ones :D Quests in GW boring? Quests in WoW (and the likes) were 10x more boring. Get 5 wolf pelts -> get 10 wolf pelts -> get 15 wolf pelts... WTF is that? You call that "questing"? Out of about 9+ MMORPG I've played (+ GW1) i found WoW quests most fun and interesting. I'm not saying every quest was so epic but there was more than in any game IMO. Also the leveling was easier/smoothier/less frustrating than in many other games + it is most polished MMORPG(I dont think anyone would argue with that).

This game makes me very very excited.
How open is the guild? I'm most definitely not a hardcore MMO player (won't be able to play all day, won't be able to participate in most raids, etc. due to college + job), but I would like to have a community of people available for grouping/instancing/etc.
I'd definitely be invested in the community/forums/council/etc. I just wouldn't have the time to be raiding 4-5 times or playing 20+ hours a week, so I'd probably level a little slower than most.

Its not going to be so much how much time you put into the game/guild, but the quality of how you spend your time. If your in it to make a name for yourself and the guild, then by all means we have no issues with you. But if your just tagging along to get the reputation of our guild name under your avatar, then as expected, please look elsewhere before we force you to. Save us the time.
We have players that will only get 1-2 hours in a day, maybe 5-10 a week tops. But theyre pumped and ready to make the most of those hours, running with the guild, powerleveling, grouping, mass pvp ,etc. Everyone has their niche, but the point is theyre not wasting time.
Its hard to explain as you see, but I hope you get the point. Nothing personal.

Anyone going to play SW:TOR when it comes out? It'd be sweet to have a TL guild for that game too.
EDIT: On topic, I'll definitely be grabbing GW2 until then, hope to see you all there

That makes sense, so I'm going to hold off on applying to the guild until I learn exactly how much I'll be able to devote to Guild Wars + the guild. I'd much rather find out how much I love the game + how much I can give to the community, then try to get in, rather than get in on the ground floor and be forced out for not giving enough, if that makes sense.

Either way your welcome to chit chat in the forums until you make your decision. Ill send a PM.

I am definitely going to play GW2 when it come out. Itt look so awesome!

Well dont be a stranger. If you decide that joining the guild isn't for you, or you have other plans with friends, by all means we want to make sure we keep the community together at least as friends You dont have to be in the guild to run PvE with us, and certainly dont have to be in the guild to hang out as we do quests
The more the merrier. And any TL member is a friend until they show otherwise.
