Yeah the floatiness is different feeling.
I just picked up the beta but after 2 hours I think Im all set. The graphics are really bad. It also is not true action like Tera is, which is what I am looking for.
If they bring the game away from tab targeted and closer to action I think Ill try this out some day but right now, just not feeling it.
Also a lot of things arent explained very well, and quests kept pulling me away from my friend, which was frustrating.

Played for about 2 hours as a Necro and having a good time ! I just love how different this game feels. I've tried so many MMO's and they all are the same that showcase one difference and try to draw people in from that but this game is different all around although still having that MMO feelings it doesnt feel like tera,WoW,Rift. It's just different.
I also like the way I can just wonder out and explore and accomplish quests and level that way. Instead of the typical talk to personA, do this or that and go back to person A or person B to turn in quest.
Even though I havent gotten into any indepth dynamic events yet I know its going to get better when more complicated ones arrive. It's cool how everyone sort of bands together and works together to get the event accomplished. It gets a little hectic sometimes but im sure thats just because beta just opend up.
I was hoping to get more of an action type of combat but I guess after playing Tera, it just doesnt feel as immersive as i hoped. Although still a step up with it being a little more fast paced just not as interactive as i hoped.
And the graphics arent as crazy as I had hoped too but they are up to par with the standard. Graphics shouldnt make or break a game. but its an added bonus when they are really polished and nice.
Also loving the fact that there are so many builds with each proffession. I see people being so creative and turning proffessions into specific intended roles they want. One fear I had was that it seemed everyone can just do everything which left me feeling the same as everyone but after seeing all these different builds it makes me happy to know that i can still be unique to the next Necro.

Yeah Guild Wars 2 is definitely progressive in that its different from WoW. I dunno after playing Tera its hard going back towards the old model.
Whats up with the end game?

Fucking hell they really outdid themselves with this Sylvari starting zone.
A FUCKING UNDERWATER CRAB.

Yeah I could see why it would be hard to go to a more slower paced and less interactive combat MMO. It's like taking a step back.
I had a good time with Tera but where it made up for in combat it lacked in everything else. I just felt like it was WoW with good combat. and once I got over being excited about the combat and I was faced with everything else it just left me discouraged to continue.
I wish and hope Arenanet take notes from Tera with the combat system they have in play and try to alter it a little more towards it to really set it far ahead.

I think WoW with better combat is a dream come true for most people.
But Tera was also gorgeous looking. Blade and Soul looks better but thats far far away.
EDIT: Is there like an HD texture pack i can buy or something? Is that whats goin on here?

Sylvari quest line. "One does not simply wake up and go to fight a dragon". I dunno if this is what the devs were going for but I immediately thought of the line "One does not simply walk into Mordor".

You might notice references to culture everywhere.
Hence Lady Gairwain and the Green Knight.

I don't catch that reference. I'm sure when you tell me it'll seem obvious but I'm sure I'm missing something.

It's like nobody here went to High School or something.

How/where do u set-up an account if someone gives you a Beta Key?
|
|
Thanks. Now I just need someone to give me a key lol
|
Anyone have a spare key? I pre-ordered, but my gf really wants to try the game with me before she decides to buy it. I can give you DotA 2 items.
|
Speaking of which, I would be willing to offer a DOTA 2 key for a beta key lol.
|
|
I actually just got a key off watching a Stream. Thanks to HASSAN a mod on Krippi's stream.

I can't settle on a class . I like the looks of mesmer, as it feels a bit complicated, but so does the engineer. Any recommendations for a pvp focused character with a steep learning curve? My friend plays a warrior.

I want to play but every time I get on I log off after a few minutes.. It's just not fun. Maybe because the big PvP stuff isn't enjoyable, but I think its because the movement is annoying

I haven't found anything weird with the movement since I've been playing. First BWE for me and maybe it's b/c I've not played an MMO in a few years. So maybe I've forgotten what movement was like in WoW/Rift. But I don't have an issue with the movement in GW2.
I'm playing a ranger right now. I do have an issue with the pets, they seem to not take damage well at all. I know there's a fine balance. But as it is now. I end up having to be the one to tank stuff and use my pet as an additional damage dealer. Which pretty much eliminates bow use for anything other than the start of an attack on a mob until it closes distance. I dunno. I don't feel like the balance on pets might not be right yet.
