Especially with melee classes (i played slayer and sorcerer? in beta) like slayer, even auto attacks feel like they take a LONG ass time to complete when im used to other mmos. some melee abilities you literally hit and wait 2 seconds before the animation/hit completes. How is that not clumsy and sluggish?
Even on the caster class I played, it was a good 1-1.2~ seconds to cast each attack, it didnt feel fast paced and twitch-based, it felt restrictive and slow. I would probably love it if i could move while attacking, but that would result in a lot of spell redesigning and probably require a fair amount of redesign to place emphasis on movement restricting abilities so the game isnt just 2 heros spinning around each other at the speed of clusterfuck spamming abilities.
I think you're deluded if you pass my complaints off as "You MMO people" - I feel this game is seriously crippled by the restrictiveness of its combat; its not really a selling point in my eyes at all (especially considering how long monsters take to kill later on in the game, its an excersise in absolute boredom and grind).
Restrictive combat system and laughable quests and an apparent lack of endgame - the game is languishing in korea at the moment and will inevitably fail as hard as age of conan in the west, too.
Just thought I'd post a video from CBT4, Slayer POV. This video imo proves that the combat is all but sluggish
You should also know that you'll get ALOT of attack speed gear lategame which will make the combat much more fluid.
Example:
Sorcerer gets a skill at lv48 which increases your cast speed by something like 70% which also makes the playstyle of Sorcerer alot faster. I understand if people feel the combat is "sluggish" at lv1 but it really does get better at the later stages of the game.
If this game was sluggish and slow the koreans wouldnt be all over it. Default speed is tutorial speed. Everything is slowed down so casuals can get into the game. If you want something to bench yourself on, its later in the game, and not on the beta.
Its till in the top 10 list on gametrics last I checked so that should tell you something. Its not even an e-sport!

From what I've read so far they aren't really all over it.
Yep, still a top game. Not in LANS though afaik. Somewhere around 2.5 percent which is enough to put it around 7 or 8. That pretty much makes it a AA title over there.

Although normally, fuck what koreans play.
Do you have any vod of lvl 60 pvp? I couldnt find anything on youtube.
who cares what koreans play, koreans still played aion which is a terrible game. tera has too much grind in it. go fetch this etc, kill x monsters come back to me get crappy reward, level up and always find something better soon. the towns looks terrible lack of detail etc.
Its astonishing how people can still complain about the graphics in Tera. Guess we need an MMO on the Crysis engine to fix people over.
Korean PvP should be on whatever the Koreans use to upload shit onto. PlayXP? I dunno check there maybe.
At the moment battlegrounds and Arena and stuff is down for renovation, should be back out soon. You won't find a lot of it on Youtube because foreigners arent good with Korean and a lot of the elements of Tera are socially oriented, like much of the PvP and also the Vanarch and Exarch systems.
Check out Nalfens channel for what is pretty much a full list of the BAM archetypes. BAM archetypes are the same you'll find anywhere, hence the modifier archetypes. But difficulty is tweaked with attack speeds and the like. Because even simple things sped up to a high speed get challenging.

You just described the quest system of nearly every MMO ever made?
Lol @ grind when the current rate of exp gain in the beta isn't likely going to change drastically for release, people complain that it's too FAST, and you can kill BAMs for even faster leveling.
Sucks that zerkers are considered ass. I can certainly feel the lack of mobility, and the 'block' ability doesn't make up for anything other than the 'oh shit' button. It frustrated me that I couldn't take out the frimbalisk with my slayer though..

TL's become generally too big a community for a TL guild to have the kind of success you have in mind. If anything it would probably be wiser for just a few to get together to form a guild.

Zerkers are still a massive force to be reckoned with in PvP. A little coordination with any other class with a root / sleep and you will 1 shot someone. Also, as I said earlier, if you are playing with a group of friends, it really doesn't matter. I played with a constant group throughout the CBTs and we did everything with a warrior tank and zerker archer sorc dps mystic heals. I am pretty sure we were the fastest clearing group on the server. Or maybe we just grinded the most xD.

This just reeks of ignorance. I played AION with a few friends and even though we were playing as a group (which is usually the most fun in any MMO) we got tired of the grind and eventually quit before hitting the max. TERA has many aspects that are unique in the current western MMO scene and I really am quite interested to see how it will play out. The grind itself really can't be considered much of a grind.
I can say with a good degree of confidence, this game is NOT a heavy grind game by any means... try playing Lineage (1 or 2) or even something older like RO on official server rates pre-renewal... THAT's when you're grinding. I'm talking easily a thousand mobs before you get your first real class ability, not skill. (note sitting is a skill, opening a chat room is a skill, forming a party is also a skill)
Tera? I think it took me just under 1000 mobs to hit level 20? Thats what, more than 10x less kills and time required to hit the same level on a 1x rates pre-renewal RO server...
Tera actually incorporates non-mindless grinding where you have to physically aim your attacks. This is already a huge deviation from what a "terrible grind" it could've been.

Well, at the very least we can all pick a server and keep a listing of who's who, even if we're not all doing the same guild stuff. I'll probably make a TeamSpeak channel on the TL server for TERA.
Also, what the fuck are people playing where they can complain about TERA's graphics? o.o The lighting is the best of any MMO and the textures are about on par.

They don't though. In group PvP (the majority of the PvP that actually matters) Berserkers are really good. Get a lancer or someone to leash and leash + Thunder Strike often equates to near dead player. Also they get into groups and do that lvl 58 ability where no one can roll or quick evade away from them and are slowed and its a huge oh fuck moment.
But yeah 1v1 I mean, you won't really track down anyone paying attention.
In PvE they are also still good. But at higher levels of play skill really comes into a play. Skill and experience I should say. At lower levels its probably the easiest to shine as a Berserker since, I mean lets face it so much of your damage is invested in one attack. Its hard to screw up that one attack.
But at high levels of play, its all about windows. Knowing what skills you can fit into the windows you are given. And reacting appropriately. Too many berserkers approach PvE DPS as:
Fully charged level 3 Thunder Strike or bust. Then the boss flies off in a different direction and they do zero damage, where they should have released early and did not zero damage.
