Packers fans also seemed to have turned a blind eye to how many times Julius Peppers was being held that game.

He was bashing Favre and I told him he won you a ring ect... and he responds: "this i know... and i loved him as much as a fan possibly could for 15 years... which only fuels my hatred of him, screwing us over, lying to the organization, joining with the enemy, the one team we said not to play for once we GAVE him his... nfl career back... the most bitter rival i know. and he jokes about it.. he vowed to beat green bay and never thanked the fans once. he chose to disrespect and millions of fans and turn his back on us. the VIKINGS! really, hate them so much and he used to as well. if you can't see why i hate him with everything i have then you're blind to his sick disloyalty and don't know what it's like to have true rivals. (i cheered for him when he played for jets, and he screwed them to.. i wish him nothing but failure the last two years, and lately he's doing pretty good at making that wish come true haha). i hate brett favre." Followed by haha yea.. no actually favre was retired and under contract with the packers. he either had to play for green bay or stay retired, but after years of putting up with his crap they brought him back and granted him a release they DID NOT have... to do that. they could have kept him under contract until he could no longer play, but they were nice enough to let him go play elsewhere.. under the SOLE condition that he not signs with the minnesota vikings. he then goes to the jets for one year, knowing all along he would screw them, dishonor his agreement with the packers and sign with the vikigns.. truly a sick move, when the packers gave him the oppurtunity to play again, he lies and turns his back and signs with the bitter rival, team he hated for 17 years, just to be a dick. upon going there every old packer player (from 90's) freeman, levens, winters, butler etc, all called him a traitor and hopes that he fails. isn't that sick though? a team as generous as green bay lets you go and play when they dont have to then you lie and backstab them in the WORST way... the man has no loyalty and no conscious and is an ego maniac.. ha, at least you're one of the ones who doesn't like him anymore too!!! but he's a freak, but that story doesn't get told on nfl network ever... It started with him bashing Farve and I told him Favre was his QB before he would even comprehend football. Then he said that shit and I said that doesn't sound like the whole truth just the bitter Packer side of it. Is there at all any truth to this jibberish? I mean, last week we got into an argument about Peyton vs Rodgers and it's like... jesus. The truth is that your friend is a fucking moron. His argument is "Favre hated the Vikings, then became one of them. He betrayed all of Packerdom by doing so." Favre never hated the Vikings. Players don't give a shit about rivalries, they have friends on these other teams. In the era of FA, they often go to teams within the division. Every player in the NFL realizes it's a business, and that other players will do what is best for them financially, as well as winning (for the guys that are secure financially no matter where they are, I guess... still, money absolutely comes first). Packer greats never called him a traitor. Certainly not anything that I've heard. A google search of Antonio Freeman Favre Traitor yields forum post results. Nothing from Antonio Freeman (who, I think, is pretty good friends with Favre, so I doubt there's any animosity between them). This is what happens when you argue with an idiot, though. They don't realize that their assertions are idiotic, so they continue to try to support them, despite no evidence to support their ideas. There's one really obvious clue that none of the players in rivalries hate each other: they grab the other guy's hand and help him get off the ground. You don't do that for someone you hate. Of course the game means more to them, because rivals are within a division, so the win or loss has more meaning to playoff positions, but that's the ONLY reason it matters more. So, no, no truth to what he's saying. It's just fanboyism.

Whether he truly hated them or not don't matter. He knew all the fans hated that team, and he could probably go to literally any other team and not be the biggest dick bag ever.

Either way I slammed it all in his face about how the Pack lost last night and all he could do is go on and tell me how amazing Rodgers is.

Whole lot of perspective about favre being a shitstain, and it's coming from King, who'd run over his own mother lap up Brett's two day old semen off of a hooker's stomach. "I foresee getting the impulse to play,'' Favre said. "But as good as Mike Tannenbaum has been to me, I could never bring myself to do it. I know I won't do it. If I did, I'd be putting the Jets in a tough spot, because I know they can't release me.'' This year, he respects the team he's retiring from. Last year ... The reality, Favre knows now, is he not only wanted to play again, but he wanted to show Green Bay -- particularly general manager Ted Thompson -- that it was making a big mistake in going forward without him. "Part of me coming back last year, I have to admit now, was sticking it to Ted,'' he said in a rather startling admission. I know there's definitely more out there about his motivations and his instance on playing for Minnesota (also touched on in here). And don't you even dare tell me that Favre wanted to play for Chills, who a bottom 1/3 coach at best. That team is only good because the GM built some goddamn amazing lines and built outward from there. Nothing at all to do with coaching.

On the plus side, my Chiefs look to be for real(sorry to Hawk and the other Niners fans in the thread.) I still don't understand the rb situation in KC though. Charles averaged 10 yards a touch in that game, yet they only got him the ball 15 times. Whatever though, wins are wins.

Whether he truly hated them or not don't matter. He knew all the fans hated that team, and he could probably go to literally any other team and not be the biggest dick bag ever. Firstly, his friend is absolutely, 100% wrong in saying the Vikings are the most hated team of the Packers... it's obviously the Bears. There may be an occasional fan saying they hate the Vikings more, but there's a lot more in the Bears. Secondly, fan opinion simply doesn't matter when you're looking to make a business/personal decision. Favre wanted, according to what he said, one thing aside from money: an opportunity to go to another Super Bowl. There was one team in the ENTIRE LEAGUE that had all the pieces but a QB, and that was Minnesota. Where else was he supposed to go to accomplish his personal goals? Fuck what any fan thinks, because they aren't him, they don't matter to his personal goals, they don't fucking matter. The only thing a fan is is a dollar symbol. We, as fans, matter a great deal to team owners, and media, because without us their team/sport dies... but individual players? They don't care. They get on the podium and say "You're the greatest fans, we did this for you," which is true to a degree, but false to a greater degree. They did it for a personal sense of accomplishment, they did it because it is their job to do so. Fans that really believe these guys are playing for them are delusional. I understand a fan's disapproval of the situation. They attached themselves to this person, so much so that he became more than a person. But, the fan needs to take a step back and observe reality. Anyone would do the same thing in his situation. I blame it on ownership, personally. Had John Elway said, in 1999, that he wanted to go for a 3-peat with the team after retiring, do you really think Pat Bowlen would have said "No, John, we've decided to move on with our franchise." The speculation wasn't as great with Elway in the years prior, but there was speculation about whether or not he was going to return in '98 after the first Super Bowl season. Favre handled it fine for several years before his first retirement, and told the team he was coming back with plenty of time. He did more for that franchise than the franchise did for him. You don't tell a legend "no." Then he said "I fucked up, I want to come back." Rather than taking him back they said "you'll have to compete." Favre said "No, I think I deserve to get my spot back," and it went back and forth like that. They offered Favre a lot of money to not play, $25 million for two years, and he said no, I want another ring. Favre went to the team first, and they rejected him, and tried in every way possible to keep him from coming back to the game. Favre says "I'm going to play again, whether it's for you, or some other team, I'm going to play, and I would prefer that I go to the Vikings, because they have the best chance of winning." The Packers trade him to a team he never wanted to be at, the Jets, because they wouldn't trade to a division rival (makes sense), and then THE PACKERS put a clause in the trade saying "You CANNOT trade him to the Vikings." The Jets then released him the following season after Favre said "I'm done again guys." (Note that I'm not 100% sure Favre had actually retired from the Jets, or if he hadn't made a decision and they let him go. I can't recall exactly how that happened.) They could have held his contract if they wanted to. Then the Vikings went HARD after Favre. The Vikings were reported to have initiated all of the talks, and they got him to come over to the team, where he posted his greatest season ever. To recap, Favre made his intentions clear from the start (that he wanted to be on a team that could win today, not tomorrow.. he had no interest in being on a rebuilding team), they sent him to a team that did not fulfill his requests. He retired again (maybe), and was released by the team he was traded to (nullifying any clauses in a contract), and then he was successfully recruited to the Vikings. Most people seem to get shit twisted though, and get mad because of the media hoopla surrounding the situation. They hate that Favre relished in his arrival at Minnesota; they hate Favre because he relished in all the attention (here's a news flash, most sports stars are egomaniacs... OMG! Jordan is WAY worse, but he's always remembered with nothing but adoration). They're mad because he was mad at the Packers, but Favre felt betrayed by the Packers. In Favre's mind, they dealt the first blow (I think this is obvious without him stating it, given the timeline of events), and he wanted to exact his revenge on them. He nearly did it with a Super Bowl berth, but fell just short. And again, the Vikings BEGGED him to come to the team. Favre was on the fence again, and what happened? Jared Allen, Ryan Longwell, and (I think it was the next guy) AP all went to Mississippi to tell Favre they needed him back. Maybe he did it because he's an egotistical douchebag, and he wanted to be told how much he was needed... it's possible, I can't say that he wouldn't do that... he is an egotistical douchebag, but this wasn't all Favre's creation. This wasn't all on Favre. People just get mad because he enjoyed the attention too much.
