A lot of people are saying Barca will win. Will be awesome to rub it in their faces if we win/draw. A lot of people = bandwagoners who started to like barcelona 2 seasons ago. LOL. and before that it was man united. interestingly there are plenty of chelsea fans, despite the fact they've never won a CL, but when chelsea do well in the EPL, chelsea shirts are visible everywhere...even in the US (mostly on colleges though). on that note, how crappy would torres feel if chelsea didn't get a champions league spot? they aren't doing so well and the spuds seem like they are doing well.

True that. 3/4 of my class are in the bandwagon. Just me and 2 friends believe in Arsenal. Other than that, 2 other kids actually 'support' Barca. People are on the bandwagon all around my school.. I was wearing an arsenal shirt today and people were staring at me xD

Everyone outside of england (or the country of the team) is a 'band-wagoner'. 99% have no ties to the team they support but they support anyway. What matters is when your team isn't doing so well, or another team is doing better, that is where the scum show themselves. Changing what team you support takes out all the fun of it. I wear my Chelsea shirt whether we win or lose. Player followers don't count cause they don't even watch football when they say they support Barcelona. Or Madrid for Ronaldo. ps. Arsenal have never won the CL either.

As for "supporting" teams. I guess it's of personal interest really which team you root for to win given certain matchups. For example if Inter-Arsenal play, i'll most likely go for arsenal because of how their style of play. But if arsenal plays man U, i'll probably go for man u because i love Rooney and Chicharito and Jisung etc (alot of my fav players) But then i still might go for ars cuz theyre the underdog and i love wenger and nasri and fabregas. I think it's pretty silly to go against your gut feelings and simply go for a team just cuz you "support" them. So it's really just about what team personally appeals to you the most. Why the hell would you have allegiance or hold any kind of pride with a team? Makes zero sense to me, unless you're from there of course, than there's like 10% reason to go for the team.

I am a lifelong football fan, and I fucking hate this attitude that people have about "bandwagon" fans. Why aren't you happy that people are paying attention to the sport? Don't you want it to become big in the US? Or are you one of those douchebags who wants it to stay "underground" so that you can be the cool individual who "understands" football. Seriously, get over yourself. If you or your family are not from Barcelona, I don't think you can really claim to be anything but a lifelong "bandwagon" fan. You are like the asshole who knew the band before they were cool, and can't help reminding everyone about it every chance you get.

People who team hop, or just support the best, will never have that feeling. All the stick you take, all becomes worth it for that one win. It's just not the same if you are a club hopper. And supporting a team doesn't mean you aren't allowed to watch other teams play...

I get a completely different (and much better) rush when a team I have a deep allegiance to wins compared to just watching say a Premier League game for pure entertainment, and I feel sorry for those who won't get to experience that.

Exactly. I have a deep allegiance to my team (Boca Juniors). I am affiliated with the club and I have had my seats in the stadium for as long as I can remember. I go to the stadium with my dad, my grandpa and my cousin every sunday. It is not a matter of them playing good, or bad, winning or losing. It is a passion that cannot be explained with words.

There's only one team that makes me nervous, and gives me the chills whenever i listen to their hymn in the beginning of the matches. It's that kind of connection that makes football the best sport in the world. Hell it's even bigger than a sport, at some points it's kind of an obsession. That being said, Benfica is the best team in the world ![]() I'm also a longtime "bandwagoner" for two other teams, Barcelona and Arsenal, but the feelings aren't the same. I'm a fan of Barcelona since i remember... I didn't even watched their games a lot and i was already a fan, since like 14 or 15 years ago, when Figo and Vitor Baia were in Barcelona. I really feel the bandwagon effect that you're talking about cuz everybody in my country are supporting Real Madrid, cuz they have Mourinho and Ronaldo, yet i still support Barcelona... Football is the best sport in the world but it's the loyalty to a team that makes it what it is... Without this loyalty Football wouldn't be as good, or as emocional as it is. Football is Passion!

Football is Passion! i agree. i don't mind the "lifelong bandwagon" fans, who pick a team and stick with them for whatever reason. what i do mind is the people who will just jump on the next team who is doing well aka GLORYHUNTERS. people who just want to be associated with winning teams. i suppose its not a bad idea, and i want soccer to be big here in the US (trust me, I LOVE to watch soccer and want more of it here in the US), but what's the fun in watching a game if you have no emotional ties? i watch football all day on saturday and sunday, and sometimes i just get bored because the games aren't that great and i don't have any emotional ties to the teams i'm watching. let me try to make an analogy, one year you are supporting the New York Yankees because they won the world series, and the next you are supporting the Boston Red Sox because they won the world series the next year. if everyone watched the game to support 1 team because they were the favorites, what would be the fun in that? when my boys and i get together to watch matches its definitely 100% better when fans from both teams are there as opposed to just 1 teams fans. also, while i support arsenal, the team i loved first was barcelona, ironically because they won the 2006 CL and because of ronaldinho. but then the next year they got embarassed by a crappy liverpool side, and i was rooting for arsenal to avenge barcelona's loss. i ended up following arsenal extremely closely ever since, because i loved their play style and because dish network had a fiasco with goltv, so no more la liga for me. i got my GF's brother into football, and he follows it pretty steadily. but last year when we'd play FIFA or something it was chelsea (surprise they won the EPL) and this year its man utd (surprise who's on top of the table). its these types of people that get extremely annoying. hell, i know he doesn't even watch half the games, he'll just post a status of the score or post a youtube clip of a goal (i love footytube though, because even I can't catch every match). honestly though, football is as much about winning and following the good teams as it is about losing and following the crappy teams. shitty teams can get relegated and those games are just as good to watch, but no one in the US watches them... interestingly enough, the players on the crappy teams are damned good, who though kevin prince boateng would make such an impact in the WC and he's doing fairly well for milan. my point is, if this attitude was EVERY person's attitude in the US, then soccer will never grow because are you just going to support galaxy (beckham/donovan) or red bulls (henry)?
