D3 has more 'casual' playablitity upfront but has a monetary investment. PoE is more complex but free. I'm not sure which way a 'casual' would go, both games can be played casually or try hard, you'll just get more out of d3 if you play it casually than you would from PoE most likely.
I think PoE hits a wall WAY harder than Diablo 3 ever does IMO

what the other guy wrote is right, the vast majority of damage is supposed to come from your hydras.
I think you can get by with a slow ancient 2h in t6 and below but after that you're going to need to run serpent sparker for hydra damage
also % hydra scales multiplicatively and not additively like % meteor, so rolling for hydra stuff right now is best. you're also going to have to start finding % ias on gear and a tasker & theos to maximize hydra breakpoints if you want to start contesting higher grifts.

the reason they recommend a one hand weapon is because you want to use the tal rasha's offhand: (1) for the bonus meteor damage, (2) because you want to use the meteor boots, and (3) because you dont want to use rrog.
and to further my rant, i have a full tal rasha set, w0ot! just when i was beginning to consider finishing my bubble-bobble wizard, rngesus gave me the final pieces in less than an hour.

Now this makes way more sense. The few guides/builds I had looked at seemed to focus a lot on the main hand but not mention the offhand, with regards to choice or stats. Talrashas offhand to complete the set without RRoG and the bonus meteor damage definitely makes sense.

It might not be the exact build you wanne run but I think the items and stat prio will remain mostly the same.

Tal Rasha's doesn't have boots, so the Meteor Boots really don't factor in.
It really does come down to Hydras being a lot of your damage, and Taskers+Serpent Sparker will do more for your damage than even a Furnace would.

well he's kind of right
using a TR source frees up
A. main hand slot which goes to ss and
B. frees up the glove slot which goes to t&t
rorg and boots don't really play too big of a factor
also TR sources used to be able to roll % hydra, so if you're not playing seasonal and you had a carryover TR source with the old % hydra stats, it'd boost your damage even more.

you need the set rings so rrog does play a big factor. 100% bonus dmg.
he is correct on the boots though. you need the meteor boots, but there are no tal rasha boots.

I really like the energy twister build with the new bracer, think I'm going to run it in the future even though it may be inferior to blizzard/spellsteal
may have trouble with shielding mobs too

I hate rng in this game with passion. I play hc together with a friend, we got to P60 and he's already decked out in full sets and every second item he gets from kadala is legendary/green, meanwhile I got 1 lousy weapon and WW set boots. Fuck this game

The shoulder piece of Akkhan is going to kill me. I gambled the first five pieces of the set within 600-700 shards (2 shards tresure goblins). Now 50 paragon levels later still no shoulder piece. I feel like the shoulder pieces are the hardest to find... At least for me. Last season I had the same problem with Jade's shoulders, now Akkhan.
For some reason I found ,with a crusader, a piece of the new wizard set. That never happened to me before. I thought that with "smart loot 2.0" this is impossible.

I don't understand the RNG system. Yesterday, while doing some T1 rift farming, a regular chest dropped 45 imperial rubies at once (too bad I have a DH). After this, I got 3 set pieces (IK chest, Nat ring and UE boots) in 4 consecutive Level 1 GRs. I don't know whether to love or hate this game.

Luckily I hoarded a lot items, I have now all possibilities around to build a shieldbash crusi. 6roland or 5p roland + cindercoat+rorg or F+R or 6p roland + 4p blackthornes etc etc. If I didnt, I have most likely only one shieldbash build right now.

Well, I started crafting Cinder Switches for my seasonal sader the moment I got to 70. The third one crafted happened to be ancient with decent Str and Damage rolls (both around 100 below maximum). I started rerolling for sockets, but on the first reroll I got 10% damage so I thought "I'll just find a Ramaladni, I don't have that many brimstones to random a socket now and get 10% damage again later". A couple of hours later a Ramaladni's Gift dropped for me and now I'm sitting on almost a maxed weapon.
Oh, did I mention 10% CDR that came with it? =))
Yeah, RNG in this game is pretty strange, I didn't manage to craft a decent bow for my DH in like 200 tries (and those get expensive with gray materials) last season. Here's the profile link btw:

EDIT: also note the trifecta Cameo. It dropped from a random white mob within an hour of me getting to 70. Also, I didn't manage to gamble Roland's gloves yet, but I got an ancient Tasker and Theo with strength. Any good?

Anyone know what exactly buffs the Dust devil damage from Waste set? I've tried using Whirlwind changed runes, didnt seem to affect, tried using both Physical/Lightning damage rune on Whirlwind.
The only thing that seemed to have any sort of effect is weapons, i traded down from a pair of pretty decently rolled Ancient weapons to a non-ancient BulKathos Oath weapon set(because i wanted to try them), my damage tanked really hard. From average of 50-80m crits it went down to only 20-30m. My clear speed dropped drastically.
What exactly can I do to boost my dust devil damage?

It seems like the there are fewer players in this seasons HC than in the last season, I leveld my monk from 1 - 70 almost all the way solo. Except for the groups I formed with some of my friends. 0 Public games open, 0 players joined my games. :-/
