I do this now. Got a whole weekend of rifts and spent zero fragments. Feels good man.
If you join a group that doesn't look like they're gonna open a rift, leave and rejoin. 50% of the time, it works every time.

i use rift it forwards, i post in their chat, 2 secs later i have 20 requests and 3 people join, kill that guardian and then one reopens and everyone leaves.
Only twice i had problems, once someone didnt leave for 3 minutes and the other time someone didnt want to accept that i chose him to open the next rift and thought i somehow want to scam him. he opened it anways, but chatted a lot and made pictures and uploaded them as some kind of scam proof (i still dont know what scam that could be, he got his boss....)

Yeah, i already joined the community after reading about it. But sometimes when no clanmates or i am just not in the mood for solo, i join pubs just to feel like i am playing with other people. My own error i guess ;P

there is a great bounty community as well. i was afraid people would just come, idle in the town and then collect their bounties, but not contribute. but i ended up getting 2-3 teams that were serious and fast. got like 20 caches in a short amount of time and ended up with RRoG.
i would suggest the community to anyone.

Actually, I don't think there is anything worth gambling for on my crusader anymore, rings/amulets would be needed but not really efficient. All I really need now are crusader sets which are not attainable through gambling. Oh well, I'll just spend all my shards on my wiz, I still need a better cindercoat and a mirrorball. Should wait on the mirror ball after the patch to fix the dmg rolls. good call, cindercoat sharding it is! they said the fix should be retroactive. oh wow. also in case you guys didn't see they are buffing cache farming. 1) torment caches can now drop torment specific legendaries 2) torment II and higher will see a significant scaling drop rate of legends from caches I don't see why they don't just scale everything. There's really no point in playing anything between normal and torment 1 if you are trying to be efficient. bloodshard collection rate will be scaling as well now
I might have misunderstood something. I thought that blood shards from normal - torment 1 will be the exact same as it is today, with additional shards dropping from torment 2+. Likewise, legendary drop rates will be the same from normal - torment 1 as today but with torment 1 having a chance at torment only legendaries.

As a heads up, we’re looking to make two changes to Horadric Caches. The first change is to allow the caches to drop Torment-only Legendary items. The second is to increase the chance that you’ll find a Legendary item in Horadric Caches, including Act-specific Legendaries like the Royal Ring of Grandeur, based on the Torment difficulty. What this means is that Horadric Caches earned in Torment I+ will be able to drop Torment restricted Legendary items, and caches earned in Torment II+ will have a scaling bonus for dropping Legendary items (which includes those items only found in a cache).

oh yeah, the bounty EU community is awesome, i had insane runs where everyone was really trying their best.
It gives a LOT of caches when everyone is pulling their weight.
It reminded me a bit of the self-policed community in classic mmos before dungeon finders.

Yeah, I saw that. Was wondering if they clarified it further in some other post. Guess not.

hmmph. finding it really hard to get upgrades, really wish some kind of trading mechanism existed.

And yeah, past a certain point it does get really hard to improve gear.
My monk for physical support build is only missing 1. Fist of az turrasq 2. Phys SoJ 3. Much better RoRG 4. Ice climbers
and from then on out stuff just gets replaced by better versions of itself.

Don't see what the issue would be with a one-time only trade. Items is not account bound until it changes hands. Since you can no longer trade gold the potential for scamming/selling isn't there so what is to protect?
It would allow you to give friends/others items that you legitimately do not plan to use ever. For example, I have a WD friend who has been trying for two weeks now to get Taskers. I got a pair and don't ever plan to play the class.

You don't have to trade gold, you can trade RL money.
