So far today I have found: Natalya's Sight Echoing Fury Natalya's Slayer Ageless Might Zunimassa's String of Skulls Immortal King's Irons Blackthorne's Spurs Andariel's Visage x2 Manticore Previously, the largest number of legendaries I've ever found in a single day was 4. One of those 4 was a Zunimassa's Pox that sold for 180 million though, so that day was still more successful than today. May I have IK and Echoing Fury? *gg* Found 2 Legendaries today (one on a DH with 0 MF).

Part of the reason I had a hard time playing was that any upgrade that I found that were worthwhile I couldn't justify using. I had to sell it for real cash. It took away any reason to progress (also beating inferno pre-nerfs, better gear wasn't necessary really) so the only reason to MF was to find items to sell. Everyone that plays without 10 accounts and bots knows thats a fools errand though.

The only thing an upgrade would give me is a bit easier time clearing already easy content. I could have that slightly easier time be faster or easier or I could have $50-250+. Pretty much a no brainer for me. I only kept marginal upgrades that weren't worth any substantial money. There was no point to have a stronger character to clear a game I already can clear, when I can get big money for that item. Once I realized the only reason I was playing was to hopefully find valuable sellable items, I knew it was time to quit until the game fundamentally changed.

There is new content now for which you might need to start keeping upgrades. Months and months before this patch, if you already could beat and farm inferno, there wasn't a need. Sure I could keep the IK helm I found after the legendary patch, and maybe someday it'd really help me in a future content patch, or I could have $250+ since I could already clear the content available with ease. These content patches are steps in the right direction, and I hope they continue to add more, and I look forward to the PvP patch. However, at this time it's not enough for me to load the game up again because I'd likely have the same mentality. Are killing MP10 ubers worth, hundreds and hundreds of dollars? Maybe for some, not for me. So I'd be back to playing for money again, which is like I already said a fools errand. I make enough money from my career, I play games for enjoyment.

For me at least, the last patch had 2 phases. First phase was to go through and try out all the cool legendary items. The 2nd phase was leveling up enough and gearing up for high MP ubers after the PTR was launched (isn't this what we call character progression that people keep complaining about?). You said it yourself, playing this game is purely for fun. Just like you I don't need the money and I don't think any person who actually needs the money is playing D3. I think you started to lose enjoyment of playing this game once you decided to "cash out" and I think it's a shame because D3 is really shaping up to be a pretty good game. Call me a purist but personally I would never cross that threshold and sell my items even though there have been many that would have made me a pretty penny ($200 would buy me many coffees).

If I read your posts right. You think selling items for money, without using 10 Bot accounts at a time is a fools errand. But yet, you also said that you sell anything good you find for money, and implied that you weren't using bots. See where I'm going with this? I think the real fools errand is coming to a D3 forum and telling us we're fools for playing the game the way we choose. The reality is that a game like Diablo is a totally personal decision as to how you want to play. Sure, a lot of kids had stars in there eyes when the RMAH was announced and they were drooling at the thought of selling pixels for dollars and quitting their jobs at Taco Bell. A lot of these kids have burned out, and some have found other ways to acquire wealth (like selling precleared runs, or leveling jobs) and are continuing to make real money. There are plenty of people that do this. Burrfoot made a thread where he links all kinds of stuff that he has sold for real money. There are others that view them game as a recreational activity, play it for fun, and don't cross the RMAH threshold. Neither way is right or wrong. If you want to be able to easily solo all the content and don't mind paying a couple bucks, you've got that choice. If you wanna see how far you can get on your own arm, you have that choice as well. Lets just live and let live.

I've been working as an engineer for almost the past 10 years and grew up gaming. Yep, I was that grad student playing FFXI on one PC and doing trials on the one beside it. So at this point in my life I could easily afford to "pay to win", but that would be totally against my own set of gaming rules. I got into online-gaming with Diablo & SC really, and soon joined the MMO craze with Asheron's Call 2. Not a great game, but I was able to sell some items and mats when I quit for a couple hundred bucks. Then I moved onto FFXI. I was the first NA Paladin 75, and wwwwwwwwwwwwwwww'ed my way into JP groups, and ended up selling my account for ~4k. I was amazed that people would really pay for pixels, but understood that time = money. So I moved onto WoW next and made a few bucks cashing out near the end of every expansion out of burnout, and when I read about the RMAH 'feature' in D3 I was pretty excited to see how well it would work. So now after probably over 800 hrs played on my Monk and almost 27k Elite Kills, I passed the $2.5k earned threshold in Paypal from D3. I've cashed out many times as soon as I felt an item I had was nearing its peak value, almost always before a patch or incoming nerf. I'd say the bulk of the sales were rares before 1.04 as my RNG has never been great, and the rest flipping, and a couple hundred from plain gold selling. As a result, my Monk is probably the shittiest geared Plvl 41 out there. But that's how I enjoy the game. I would absolutely groan if I had kept that 190 dex 10% crit 20% mf shield instead of selling it for $25; because right now there is a better one available for 75k gold. But end of the day, D3 isn't going to even come close to minimum wage, but its the knowledge that hey, my lame hobby is self-sustaining. The wife doesn't have to worry about me going out for drinks after work, I gotta come home and farm some keys! But when I do finally retire the monk, i can easily go and buy a new PC or that lame Wii-U with just Diablo 3 proceeds. I guess I am one of the few that enjoys 'cashing out' because that means my new shitty gear should be pretty easy to upgrade. :-D Edit: and with 1.05 the uber fight was really exciting and fun to solo (MP5) and even in a group with fellow TLers (MP7) so now I just need a better rolled Hellfire Ring!
