The +8% Holy damage would not add to the holy damage on say, a Hallowed set weapon either, and neither do +elemental skill damage like Schaefers. Looking cool sometimes isnt the best way to min max! Hehe Also, bear in mind that not all of your abilities will be physical? I'm not certain, as I only play a barb. For example, only SOME of a wizard's abilities will be physical, whereas others may be entirely magic. I'm speculating though - best to find out properly. I bought it for the cold damage snare, not for the damage ^.

This is assuming your original weapon swing was all physical element (ie you don't have +elemental damage type on your weapon.)

(an additional 2X% min damage). This is assuming your original weapon swing was all physical element (ie you don't have +elemental damage type on your weapon.) These numbers don't make any sense to me. Why is the +X% to <element> damage adding to only minimum damage, why do you list a 30% increase on min damage as an overall 10% damage increase, and what do you mean by "an additional 2X% min damage"?

Blame blizzard programmers. That is exactly the way it works. The phrase "adds x% to [element] damage" translates to: "Adds 2*x% of your minimum physical damage as [element] damage." - so a 15% triumvirate would add 30% of your minimum physical damage. Assuming your damage range was 50-100k, as I did in the example, then adds +15% elemental damage from triumvirate would translate over to a 10% overall damage increase. While this isn't as ideal as a straight 15% damage increase, the added damage -is- elemental in nature, so if you have a triumvirate, every attack has a fire damage component (which makes conflagration work with every spell.)

Yea, that definitely not how I expected the mechanic to work. So adds x% to [element] damage is actually better for tight damage ranges.

If you left D3 beause of the AH, you better start looking for a new game. Don't see any patch taking away importance from the AH in any significant way. Why don't you just play without the AH btw?

I played at the release, got fucking frustrated at act 2 inferno and couldn't do anything without farming gold and buying at the AH, because I never droppped a thing farming item in act 4 hell and act 1 inferno. But I liked the game aside from that, just the feeling you get from farming was so underwhelming, rare items doesn't have the charisma legendary had in d2 too.

Well it's certainly a lot easier to play without using the AH now. I cleared Inferno with gear that probably couldn't get very far into A2.... (just guessing, 700 resists, 22k dps, 6.4k armor) I probably spent less than 500k on the AH as well, so grinding for gear isn't as bad either IMO. The last patch also revamped all the legendaries; aside from a lot of them being pretty much best in slot or close to it. A ton of unique effects where added to legendaries (some cosmetic, some unique mechanics and some in between - ie unique mechanic that mostly looks pretty like Sever).

A very friendly guy managed to make me drop my godlike offhand to test, we even were on skype etc, 5 seconds later he was gone from my friendlist (ingame and on skype), this is a very valuable lesson for me i suppose, but is there any way for me to get my item back addressing blizzard or anything like that ?
