I think where blizzard really dropped the ball was legendaries. They wanted well rolled end-game rares to be better than legendaries. I'm fine with that. But right now most legendary weapons are in the 10-15% statwise, while armors are significantly better at 20-70%(some armors/jewelry are actually quite good). Legendaries need to all be in the 60-80% range, because you need to give more casual players a goal. Getting an item which has 10 more dex, -3 vit and 5 more resist all isn't a goal. Of course they already lost too much of the player base to realistically do this any more, but that's what I think they should've done.
If you had legendaries drop around once every 3-5 hours with 200% mf, once every 10 hours with 75%, then the guy who plays a few hours a day will get a legendary every week, and it won't suck. The guy who wants to put in 40 hours a week with 200%+ MF will get about a dozen legendaries, and distribute it around to 95+% of the population, for which it will be BiS. Goals for casuals, no limits on the hardcore. You'll have a RMAH market for fairly cheap poorly rolled legendaries(which are still ~60%), probably for sub $20, along with decently rolled rares. You have the well rolled legendaries, and well rolled rares going for the ~$20-$100 range, and then you'll have the retarded good rares, which goes for whatever they want to pay for it.
Sub-60 legendaries also should be amazing, FAR better than any possible rares of the same level, because otherwise they won't get used at all, especially since you level up so fast.

I found a good blue 1hander with 1020 dps, but no stats or socket, so my crit damage is really suffering. Buying a good 1h with some crit dmg or socket, is like in the millions upon millions. But yes, I only look at the dps of the weapon to just sort out the 300ish dps shit

Legendary armors are amazing. Stormshield, Natalya's set, Andy's etc are really good, some of them are even better than perfectly rolled rares. Legendary weapons are... -_- It's like they made dps such an important stat, then forgot all about potential max dps when designing legendary items...
But yeah legendaries drop too rarely. I salvaged my last 2 legendary drops -_-

DPS is definitely an easy way to mentally filter items as you find them. I typically look a little closer at any rare if it has more than 600DPS (1H) or 900DPS (2H) for the stats.
It's also the only convenient way to sort weapons on the auction house after the minimally effective three available filters. Price sorting is also only semi-useful as you tend to polarize between deal-hunting (deferring purchase) or burning your gold reserves for the best item you can afford at that time.
If there were bid sorting support (both sorting and including a maximum bid next to maximum buy option), which I'm sure we'll probably see when RMAH activity drops off significantly, I would find the AH much more useful. If I have 2M to drop on a weapon, I would prefer to see everything I can afford with that 2M to only seeing buyouts capped at that price.
Sorry, apparently I got sidetracked about AH on the weapon topic.

Sorry, apparently I got sidetracked about AH on the weapon topic. The sad part is that even after looking a little closer, most of them get salvaged anyway. For every weapon that is worth selling, I find about 20 armors lol.
The max bid idea is pretty good.. beats trawling through 30+ pages to find an item worth bidding at <1m.

RMAH Commodities is live.
Anyone wanna help me put up $4000 of my remaining $8000 worth of crafting mats on it? (Speculative lol).
Offering, eh maybe 3 percent cut. PM me, but I have to know who you are.

Quickly evaporating as I believe the backend is FIFO for tied auctions on commodities.
I have essences that have sold but now I think people have rushed it to the point where my back auctions are too late.
Im still getting stuff sold but I think I'll have made about $1,000 when this rush is over (but Im at far less right now). That might be the last money I needed for my hex monitor setup.
|
Find out if it's sustainable. Once the rush is over, try posting Thursday night (leftovers or whatever) to see how they're doing. Life hack the RMAH, post on payday.
Might have to wait a week because today is Thurs =\

Its only sustainable while people think D3 is a good game which generally happens when Blizzard makes patches and content updates. Then people drop the game again.
|
Don't think it's FIFO. I think it's "lowest price first".

True, but I imagine there will be some hangers-on. Maybe doing what they can to stock up well-rolled items for that next patch or whatever. Buying tons at low prices, or similar strategies. Can't hurt to try it, and maybe share your findings here. No subscription fee so the devs have a chance at redemption in whatever ways allowed.
I bought D2 and had quite a bit of fun with offline mode on a sorceress. Took her to 70s but the cold/fire immune enemies are such a pain. Started an amazon to try that out next. No editors, no dupes, plenty of fun even a decade later.

I generally have been doing that. Ill give you a quick review.

hope you didn't salvage. even with the low dps it's a nice stat stick for WW barbs. tornados only factor MH weapon damage so people just buy any DPS offhand with ridiculous stats (str/critdmg/loh).

Gold to Real Money seems to be live as well. Looks like its 2.50 per million. Sell your hundreds of millions now while you can like me. It might be too late.
Its raining money in D3 again!

Gold market inflation inc.
|
RMAH is locked to a minimum of 2.50 per million. So it should boost the gold value to around there. I think last I checked gold was selling for 90 cents per million.

Haha it's okay though. They can have all their AH and RMAH fun. The game is juuuuust fun enough to keep farming once in a while (you know, actually playing the game, for funzies) and since there is no end-boss or end-game to chase, slow and steady without burnout means that people like myself who just play to blow shit up will be fine in the long run. Beating inferno isn't something I would really call an achievement at this stage. Just something fresh to kil (not farm)l. Also, I'm sure if I ever end up in A4 inferno (I only farm A1, shamelessly,) I'll be mad as hell about all those fun one-shot kills Hell was bad enough in gear I picked up along the way.
I subscribed to the author of that last video above just out of curiosity. Interested to see what else he will cover in the future.
