I've just never seen a witch doctor try to build survival and I definitely wouldn't sacrifice any damage for such a thing. If an item you're looking at has attack speed, crit, int, vitality, and resist all I wouldn't say no to it just because it has tank stats, but you could probably just buy an attack speed/crit/int item for much much cheaper.
Personally whenever the mobs get to me I'm just gonna die. It doesn't really matter if I can take an extra hit or two because once they're on me I'm not gonna get away so why bother trying.

My ultimate aim is 50k hp (so i can eat 2-3 hits and won't die) and hoping to get 40k dps with alot int so 1 soul harvest can give around 50k dps. yeah, it will take ages to get there.
meanwhile, one of my wd mate is doing a second char as dh.

I play WD as well. Some packs with bullshit affixes I stand no chance at all. Currently in Act3 Inferno though so not sure how it is in Act4. I'm trying out choosing resist all instead of vit (If the item could have only either). What do you guys think

I played some act4 inferno for the hell of it, and Oppressors can attack through my damage immunity shield (serenity). Is that a bug or is that just a way to make inferno even more difficult?

If you kill someone when you're dead, does your magic find count toward the drops? As in, if I die in MF gear, and a dot kills a rare the second after, do I still get my +200%-ish bonus chance?

i think you need abit of both. that's why i said my ultimate goal is 50k hp and ideally I want to have at least 400-500 res so I can effective fight against some mobs like invulnerable/minions/extra health. 40k+ hp and 1000 res would be the best i think. the fallen angel in act4 fly through me and dealt 52k damage with me 43k hp and 250 res  and that is only one angel.

i'm only at 21k hp and maybe 400 resist. It's not too bad in solo but in coop.. pretty ouch.

have you tried act2? i was with around 27k hp and around 300res but i gave up half way because i literally cannot take any single hit from any mob. thats when i found out that more hp is needed. feel like i am playing hardcore at times Q_Q
meanwhile, i still have doubts about the survibility of our pets in inferno. it would be some serious design flaws if our pets weren't there to do their tanking/cc job. there is an interesting thread about pet research: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5271500086.
