There will drop lots of blue items you can't use. Those you can use to salvage for materials, or you can sell them. In the beginning it's fine to salvage them so you can craft stuff. But as you get better gear, it becomes harder to craft good stuff. Thus you want the money instead of the materials so you can upgrade your blacksmith and your jeweler.

If you plan to sell something on the AH, make sure its good so people would buy it. Try to search first for similar item and see how much they are selling then just decide the price.
I sold nearly 40 items on AH already, so one advice for you is don't be greedy if you really want to sell. Also, put a buyout price since people don't want to wait 2 days for the item.

that's the thing I'm wondering since I'm level 20, is there any item at that level that I'm going to sell ? or should i just salvage ?

Unless it's a really good item, I just sell it to merchants

Nightmare is designed so a level 30 character will be challenged by it. A level 1 would have no hope of surviving. Basically each new character has to run through every difficulty.

Is 600+ dps on a lvl 32 witchdoctor who just completed normal mode standard? On singleplayer, almost everything falls to 1 cast of dire bats. Elites fall to 2-3 casts. I had 500+ dps pre-diablo, then he dropped a 2-handed weapon which increased my dps to 600+. Flawless ruby contributes over 100+ dps.
Yay found my first legendary item! Leoric's crown. Shitty stats. Immediately dumped it on the auction house in the hopes of making a quick buck lol.

It is decent, but in a coop game with 4 players, your damage will be heavily negated and it will take many casts to kill.

Kinda interesting how the group with 2gd is farming inferno. They all switch to +magic find gear shortly before the boss is down. In the end they have more than +200% MF and Skeleton King drops like 3 yellows and 8 blues. Dunno if that is working as intended though.
I have a feeling blizzard will disable switching gear in combat, just like they did in WoW. They should have thought about that beforehand though.

Yeah, it's the old 'clever use of game mechanics' all over.
Btw, anyone know if something like the Arreat Summit for D2 exists/is going to be up for Diablo 3? I would like to know what the variables are for the modifiers on items. Would be nice to know when you have a perf stat on an item

Pretty much every MFer gear switched in Diablo 2 unless they were botting anyway. It's an intended mechanic.

Even if I played co-op, I'm pretty sure dire bats (225% weapon damage) will still 1-shot weaker mobs, and 2-3 shot normal non-elite mobs. Feels so weird that the game became ridiculously easy during act 3 to 4.
Edit:

I never did. My infy light sorc 4 shotted Dia and needed about 8-10 spells for Baal. My gear was pretty much standard MF gear, 3 tals pieces (amu, belt, armor), isted Ocu, 2xist Moser's, CTA+Spirit on switch, 2x30mf nagels, 50mf wartravs & perf chance guards. Merc with infy, forti & Andy face.
I would do Dia+Baal in <3min if I was lucky with tping to throne. I've also never heard of anyone doing that.
