why would you want to turn a character that has a natural ranged auto-attack into melee?
how to play kennen:
teamfight commences.
1. QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ 2. W people that you hit.
3. Some one has now won the fight. you
A. chase with E and turn on ult (using ghost or flash to get in range, whatever you took) B. Run with E and turn on ult (deterrent from getting closer to your team and makes for some turn-around kills)
rinse and repeat.

i don't understand stacked sunfires on any hero
wow you're doing a tiny sliver of damage and you're impossible to kill
guess i'll run away now \o/
the only hero i can really see it useful on is like... rammus

Amumu. Sunfires with his tears of despair really drop people and push like crazy

Sunfire's just a handy way of getting armor and HP. It works well on both Amumu and Malphite and maybe Rammus (Amumu is a point-blank AoE DoT machine, and Malphite could use every damage help he can get, especially as armor adds to his E damage). It wasn't as worth it before when its recipe cost was crazy but now it's one of the best HP items for its cost, IMO.
Edit: The reason why I say maybe for Rammus is that unlike Amumu and Malphite you don't usually play to kill. With Amumu and Malphite you literally find yourself running alongside an enemy DPS to take them down with attack animation cancel, especially with Malphite.

Oh nice a Kennen discussion !! let me join !
Kennen is absolutely nice for Mid-lane. He can own quite a number of champs there. The problem with Kennen is survivability since he's so squishy and weak once his skills are on CD. The Ult is practically an easy-to-use fiddle ult with less dmg, his Q-skill (skill-shot) is very effective in 1vs1 when he doesn't fight with creeps around. In most of my games I go for survivability first and then build up AP on him. Practically vs phys. DPS teams I get a sunfire first then buy a soulstealer with blue-elixir later. The sunfire helps alot to survive and allows to rush into teambattles with Ult+E+W to stun and dmg the other team severely. After that he can finish with his Q-skill. With his escape skill E - he can even survive most of the fights and can build up his Soulstealer.
Kennen's strong point is without doubt his mid-game, where he can gank and go 1vs1 with most champs. Requirement for that is that he last-hit enough during laning phase, but this usually is no problem for him since Q is an easy last-hit. Beginning late-game, Kennen should build up Zhonyas to enhance his dmg-output and survive with stasis (and buy time for CD for his skills). Unfortunately Kennen's effectivity goes down in late, late-late-game since his AP ratio is pretty bad.
I think Kennen does not work well with the usual OP Heroes such as Ez, Janna, Soraka etc. A good team with Kennen should consists of champs with CC and Aoe dmg, such as Rammus/Amumu, etc.
Edit: Sunfire is the best Item to get HP+Armor. For Kennen compared to Rylais, Sunfire is much better imo. Sunfire costs 2500 gold brings in around the same HP plus Armor and dmg. Rylais costs 500 gold more brings in 500 HP + 80 AP and some minor useless slow. 80 AP on Kennen is around the same dmg which sunfire makes.

No, with Fiddle, you need to focus on survival. I've been playing against a lot of fiddles and the most effective ones are the ones with higher defenses rather than AP. A can kill a high AP fiddle in about 2 seconds, just enough for the fiddle to land two crow hits on me. As for a defensive fiddle, he does less damage per hit, but he will be able to pull his entire ult, let his teammates attack safely, and maybe even survive with life absorbing. It's best to strike a balance between AP and survival.

With Kennen it depends. In mid-game u can Ult then E then W and finish with Q. As the game goes on Q, Q, Q, Q, Q .... W and Ult are better. Late-game E will be neglectible and should only used to escape/mark.
With Q, Q, Q Kennen will not be active enough in teamfights mid-game.

some heroes that work very well with sunfire you didn't mention
Shaco: hallucinate also gets sunfires, effectively doubling the damage during your ult, you have a blink+stealth to get next to them, and need to be in melee range, plus you have a slow to make sure you keep up. The tankiness of the items also helps your ult stay alive longer, add in a guardian angel and everyone will hate you (you hallucinate will also have a GA on seperate timer)
Kennen: you can make him dps, but his ult is random so doesnt provide the burst you need to focus down the carry, late game you are needed not for your damage but for your stuns, meaning you'll need to lightning rush into them for a mark, W for another, ult for a 3rd, then stay in melee to lightning rush again, sunfires thus serves the dual purpose of keeping you alive for this suicide mission as well as add damage while there. Try boot+haunting guise, rylai, sunfires for a tanky caster ninja

With Kayle, which snowball item should I get, Mejai's or Occult? Or is it worth sacrificing two item slots to get both?
This is considering the first four items I have are good enough for me to carry.

haunting guise is not good anymore, since spell vamp is gone. Tanky caster ninja is not good either, since there are other champs that can fill this role better. Imo with Kennen it depends on ur playstyle how to play, since one must find the right balance between survivability and DPS. In late-game Kennen is just meh, as u said Kennen will only serve to stun and soften enemy champs for your carries.
Edit: Stack/snowball-items work well on Kennen. I miss 2-stacks Leviathan ...

kennen sucks and is nowhere near fiddle's utility.
haunting guise is still good with or without spell vamp.
sunfire shaco gets shit on by AD annie.
sunfires are good because it provides a lot of health+armor, the damage is just an added bonus.
and like that i'm out.

Fiddle late-game is much better than Kennen's. However Kennen is better in early/mid-game than Fiddle, since he's more mobile and can gank more easily.
AD Annie is good, though AD Annie gets raped by sunfire Eve.

mid-game (lv6->10), kennen ulti is better than Fid but after that, Fid will take over...
more over the option for Fid to jungle giv the team 1 more solo lane => 2 level 6 early enough to gank around will be better than 1 kennen lv6 :D

that being said, there are very few champions as FUN as kennen.
edit: also your opinion's invalid because you're puff.

oh yeah i forgot about amumu, i can see why sunfire stacking would be good on him
i shit on sunfire shacos
redtooth (or anyone else knowledgable, or anyone else who plays shen pretty regularly), on SHEN i generally open aegis, then merc treads, then banshee/randuin/guardian depending on if they're caster heavy, dps heavy, or balanced. would you suggest sunfire before any of those? stacked sunfires on shen?
when exactly DO i get leviathan? i generally get it as my 4th item but by that time, considering how poorly shen farms, it's pretty late-game and i rarely get more than 10-12 stacks... should i consider it earlier or would getting it early in the place of a core item cripple me?

Levi is nowhere near as good as before ever since they nerfed it from giving 2 stacks on assists (which was a dumb idea anyways).

On June 24 2010 03:53 Southlight wrote: Kennen is just monstrous in laning, regardless of what sort composition, to be honest. If the player's good he can dominate a 1v2 lane by actually out-damaging the opponent (unless they have Soraka, but most 1v2s get shafted by Soraka). He's also a very strong 2v2 laner because he brings a lot of damage and CC. As said, the problem is that he's like Fiddle, except without the teleport from out of the blue. Everyone knows he's coming, and has ample time to deal with him, and he takes ~3-4 seconds for his damage/CC to start sinking in. You just can't catch people by surprise with a Kennen.
Fiddle's problem is that when he falls behind it's really hard to come back into the game without serious team support. Kennen can at least push lanes really fast and get away with it. Do you guys remember about 1-2 months ago when I said "Kennen is great, he's got Fiddle's ult with no channel and a stun at the end" and everyone flamed me for it?
Or when I was like "Yi is viable again" and everyone was like "stfu noob"?

So I've started doing a Jungle Olaf build and it's been working really well for me. The premade I've been playing with is on a 7 game win streak and each game is around 25-35 minutes long. I also find it a lot funner than laning with Olaf and I never realized how good Madreds can be.

Shaco is gonna get nerfed not next patch(which is coming out this week), but after that probably. Devs pointed out that they don't like 11lvl Shacos soloing baron when it pops. Clone is going to get nerfed (it will not copy aura effects) and thus making Shaco even more qdodge material. This is not 100% confirmed info, but I'm pretty sure it is going happen very soon.
