Vlad should prioritize AP when building up items, unless he's in danger of getting gibbed too easily, but that's a judgment call. You really shouldn't die just because you went blasting wand instead of giant's belt when building up rylai.

As you're not tanking, that HP is just for safety, but it doesn't enhance your primary function.

Honestly when I play vlad I try to get as much ap as possible because you should never really be in danger of dying.

I usually get doran's shield, boots, then rush Zhonyas so I can pool, zhonyas, wait like 2 seconds then pool again. Makes you more or less impossible to kill.

I get manamune, shoes, infinity edge and 3 bloodthirst

Maybe I will get sword of the occult before infinity edge the next time.

Anyway, RE: Tryndamere:

Is it just me or can jungle Tryndamere be pretty strong? Seems like if you go Green pot first you can start at Red and tear through the jungle pretty quick. And Trynd is definitely a high power ganker with a built-in damaging flash and strong slow even at level 4. And past level 6 he can just tower dive with impunity and then run back into the jungle to recharge without even going back. He can also escape harassment easily with Spinning Slash across the trees.

I was testing with a suboptimal rune set (only 8% crit from runes, starting with Green Pot + 5 Pots) and things moved really fast with relatively small risk of dying. I can only imagine if I had a full crit page it'd be nuts (that's be like 40% with Green pot, yeah?)

When I play vlad I max out Q first. Once you get level 5 the CD is short enough for you to spam like crazy. W's duration doesn't change with an increase in level, so I normally put one point in it until q and e are maxed.

I would advise against snowballing items on squishy champions without any escapes, like MF. Unless you are way better than your opponents, at which point you can do whatever you want.
I suggest focusing on BT/LW for MF, as those work best with her Q and autoattack. A bit less damage on her ult isn't the end of the world, I would mostly use it to kill off people who are close to death anyways.

Frozen mallet seems really expensive on Olaf and doesn't seem to add much to the character except a gratuitous amount of HP. I'm always going to get madred's razor and zerkers greaves, but beyond that anyone have a good idea on maxing HP and survivability?

You can't pool, zhon, pool unless you max pool early and have bluebuff. If you wait for level 18 to get full pool, you might as well go rylais, haunting or spirit first.

Go SS -> Rylai -> Zhon if you want to use a pool first build. If your team falls behind, double elixir up. Abuse pool to tower dive with ghost from behind and build up SS stacks by staying safe. You can also afford to keep tides at 4 stacks prior to fights without worrying about needing targets to Q because of the lowered cost. Its worth it because AP will give your tides some bite, and you'll still benefit from the increased healing.
