errr... not quite. it's +130 for you yes... but it's just +0 for them. killing dragon gives your team a boost, but does not restrict/hold back their team at all

also it's +25 for the killer too

Dragon gives 130 gold per person on a team and 25 for the killer. That's a lot more than 260g.

Fuck eu servers. Rly.

That doesn't accentuate the importance of dragon enough. One team invariably gets dragon because there's only one, so if your team doesn't get it, it's basically theirs.

If team A gets it: team A has 130g
team B has 0g

If team B gets it: team A has 0g
team B has 130g

Difference between the two scenario is a 260gold advantage to the team that gets dragon, because the team that didn't get it is being effectively denied 130g potential gold that they COULD have gotten.

no. i understand the importance of getting dragon, but you can't judge a team on what they "could have" gotten ie dragon

like, my basketball coach in high school would always tell me "GUITARASAURUS! DON'T TURN OVER THE BASKETBALL! IF YOU DO IT'S A 6 POINT SWING!!!" and i'd be like wat. his logic was we DEFINITELY would have made a 3pointer if i didn't turn the ball over, but since i did, they DEFINITELY will hit a 3 pointer.

which is entirely irrational and without any base

just like, you don't consider yourself poorer by 130g every time dragon spawns, and the only way to get "even" is to kill dragon immediately... do you? cause that's essentially what you're saying. if you don't get dragon you've "lost" 130 gold. but you haven't. it's an advantage to the team that takes it, not a disadvantage to the team that doesn't take it, and there's a distinct difference

I lag about half my games on the Euro server.

Funny story: A couple weeks ago (whenever last patch was) my laptop refused to dl the patch so I had to reinstall, unfortunately, the US download link was corrupted, so I was stuck on the EU server

2 junglers fighting near dragon
One gets it with smite
The other one doesn`t

There is no maybe about it. If team B didn't get dragon, team A definitely would have.

Your basketball analogy is actually quite apt in this situation. If a team drops the ball and the other team picks it up and scores, it results in a 4-point difference. Not 2 point, 4 points. That`s exactly what`s happening here with dragon.

no
the score went from 60-60 to 60-62. that's a 2 point swing. not a 4 point swing.

there's no such thing as "potential gold" in this game. when you're playing starcraft you don't count every non-mined mineral patch as a money sink do you? ofc not. maybe while you sent 3 guys to get dragon, three of their guys killed 10 creeps each. that's like +160 gold that you didnt get because you left your lane. it's stupid to consider yourself as having "lost" 160 gold though.

rly an easy concept. dragon is good. not getting dragon is nothing. letting the other team have dragon is good for them.

If you didn`t drop the ball and scored: it would be 60-60
But since you did, it becomes 58-62

That`s a 4 point difference as a result of the ball turnover.

As a starcraft player I'm going to agree with juicyfruit because potential gain is talked about a lot.
We have multiple brackets generated in advance. Relax . (Kennigit) I just simply do not understand how it can be the time to play can be 22nd at 9:30 pm PST / midnight the 23rd at the same time. (GGzerg)

It's not a 4 point swing if you just drop the ball and the other team converts a layup. It's a 4 point swing if you blow a layup on a fast break and they get a bucket. So it's not a very good analogy except in the case of one jungler coming by and smitestealing your dragon because it's down or you never took it.
