Currently if you play him glass cannon and are able to effectively predict enemy movement (forward and backward) then you can snowball the game very quickly.

I go 21/0/9 masteries with ARP marks and quints, mp5 seals and glyphs

For items I start with doran's blade and a health potion
First trip to base I buy boots and a longsword or two

Eventually build brutalizer, 1-2 bf swords, then finish the mercury treads, and stack bf swords until you dont have any more inventory space. Then turn 2 into bloodthirsters and one into an infinity edge. If the game is still going sell your doran's blade and buy a banshee's veil.

For skills I go

QEQEQR then R>Q>E>W

I would changet that if they have significant physical dps or extremely quickly attacking dps.

Use auto attack to harass early and push the enemy away from their creeps, it makes it 110% easier to line up mystic shots that way.

do you get ghostblade with brutalizer ?
i usually level w-> e
does same amount of dmg, and u dont have to get as close as u do with the e, and it gives a little AoE attack speed?



Eventually I'd make a ghost blade but I dont find the crit as rewarding as the pure damage from more BF swords.

I level E over W because the cooldown goes down with each rank.

W is ~50 dps on a 1500 hp champ, E is potentially 175/s if you're being attacked often enough, and R is 150/s for it's duration. In his initiation, Amumu does something around 600ish to everyone caught in R, + bandage toss damage to his target.

And I wasn't agreeing with you because you had things broken down into CV vs EHP shit, when the people with the highest 'CV' per your formula, happen to be the people with the highest EHP as well, so saying that there's a scenario where 'CV' champs are best and 'EHP' champs are best separately, when they're the same champs, makes no sense.

Also I really think the 'grind' gets at me more than anything else in this game. All the other shit I might complain about is present in pretty much any multiplayer game(balance issues, people you don't like for whatever reason, other shit I'm just not thinking of right now). I would enjoy LoL a lot more(especially with my champion ADD where I can't pick a main) if I could just like, play the champs, rune how I wanted, without grinding either 1000 games or throwing down 100 bones.

If HoN and LoL switched payment plans(obviously completely impossible this long into the game's retail life, I don't have that unrealistic expectation) I'd probably be having a much better time playing it.


I feel like in one year, I KNOW I won't still be playing this game, because runes just add too much farming. At some point my desire to learn is going to be blocked by the fact I won't have enough grind stored up and it's going to be crazy frustrating.

tf2 is actually a perfect example of the same thing. At some point I got bored with the game, uninstalled it because pubs were making me rage and comp play was awful, and jumped ship to quake live. I've considered messing around in it again, but I won't have access to any of the new shit without tedious grinding so there's no point.

Unfortunately this game includes a great deal of ''virtual skill' - the skill your character has rather than you. The reason the whole model seems punishing to somebody with a competitive streak is because the way we think of it, you gain access to the full powers of an item by being good with it. For example, in quake, the plasma gun might as well not exist unless you have enormous skill with it. Imagine if somebody told you you had to 'craft' a plasma gun in quake to use it. It would be redundant.

I'm not saying there isn't player skill in LoL, btw, just that it's squeezed by the grind model which is based around virtual skill.

And that's exactly what you get for not paying anything for the game. Either shell out the $30 to get the heroes (and by the time you're 30, you'll have 3 rune books full of runes because you don't need to spend IP on anything else) or grind it and not pay one red cent.

This F2P model is awesome, grinders like me who have been desensitized by WoW and other games can play a fun, engaging game even though we're broke college students who can't afford most mainstream titles, while letting casuals willing to pay for the game play on the same level as us.

tbh I don't see what all the fuss is with grinding IP. runes don't even remotely matter until you're good enough... pretty sure any of the good players here on TL could play with no runes/masteries and just stomp all over a sub-lvl 30. by the time you're good enough for runes to matter, you'll have played more than enough games to afford them.

I have a question. Which hero would be best to spend my first 6300 ip on? I kinda have a preference for heroes that can carry, so right now i am thinking of getting ez. Any suggestions?

if you're dead set on a 6300 champ, Ez is the obvious choice. Vlad can roll pubs pretty hard too @ 6300 ip.

Imo get Kayle if u want a carry, 450 Ip, then save the rest for after you tried a free champ you really like

I also don't really feel like this game is a grind at all, and I enjoy the F2P aspect :D... if you play enough you should have most of the runes and any champion you want

A good vlad can just roll low ELO without any trouble. A good Ezrael can do a really good job of rolling low ELO but sometimes he needs help

Actually it's 40 to buy all of them, but if I were going to drop money on the whole thing, I'd just buy hon which is more full featured and stable. Or more realistically, wait for valve dota.

I like the rune and mastery aspect of LoL, adds a lot of variety to how champs can be played. I just wish they adjusted hero pricing by how used/useful they are - I miss playing Kennen but there's no way he's worth 975/6300 :<

Well, when uniques overlap you get the best one. So I assume his movespeed increase was 5 outside of combat and 3 while in it.

i like it as well but tbh, the masteries need to be expanded on and changed, there is no reason to not get atleast 9-10 in utility on EVERY toon, offensive is absolutely useless past the mpen for me.. runes are done ok, but rune pages themselves are a little pricey imo i have 5 rune pages, and I use ALL 5 for ranked but then again I play udyr and garen ... those kind of different champs need their own page
