Kiting is what Kayle is all about late game. Q for slow, then just E for extra damage. It's pretty ridiculous. Rageblade and Tooth both give +IAS, which works well with her E. I wouldn't recommend Gunblade. You have a skill that give you innate slow already. Besides, Gunblade is somewhat underwhelming for its high cost.

I gotta tell you, it's pretty amazing~ Not as a first item. It's more like Aegis -> Stinger -> Frozen Mallet (sometimes sunfire cape)-> Nashor's tooth (sometimes a second sunfire cape)
Just tag someone with vorpal, and start wacking on them. You get back like 40HP per hit (vorpal is a heal over time so you get 2 ticks from each attack), and you're hitting pretty fast. Feint if they're bursting (spammable with all that CDR from nashor's), cleanse if they cc. You can literarily chase their carry out of combat if they don't focus you down.
Much more fun than the typical HP-stacking build. gotta love mana regen on shen :p Nashor's is a bad idea on Shen because his AP ratios aren't very good, he doesn't stand to gain much from attack speed, and he has no mana. The only thing he's a big fan of is the CDR and there are better ways to go about getting it. The interaction between AS and Vorpal isn't what you think it is... each hit while Vorpal is regening you only serves to refresh the timer to it's max of 2 seconds. In other words, if you attack 2 times/second or 0.5 times/second, you'll still get the same benefit from vorpal so long as your hitting your target, as 0.5 AS will refresh the buff just as it runs out and 2 AS will excessively refresh the buff, effectively doing nothing. If you're really intent on being DPS shen, Ghostblade is a much better idea as it provides more utility and has no wasted stats. You could even just tack on just Stinger for good measure if you wanted to be a chaser with your mallet (AS does help in this regard by refreshing the slow). All tolled, stinger + ghostblade will cost you 800 more gold (a little less actually from the bonus gold you'd get back off of avarice), but the end result will be much more potent. If all you're looking at is the juicy CDR, Spirit Visage and Radumen's Omen are better ideas that fit within Shen's optimal role of tanking.
=[ once again my theorycrafting goes down the pooper. Shen's just so good though that nashor's ended up working anyways for most of my games, even if it was so inefficient. Stinger's still pretty cool with phage though.
Back to the drawing board..

on kayle I just mass rageblades and get sorc boots. best bang for your buck unless no1 else picks up starks/aegis, you could get one of those.

IAS is the theme, so Berserker's. Merc/Tabi also work. Boots is usually personal preference.

So I'm about to hit lvl 13 and leave this newbie island, will this Taric build cut it in the big leagues?
Dagger + Health pot Mercury Treads Nashor's Tooth Thorn Mail and/or Aegis depending on team comps ??? -> game should be over by this point
My masteries are all in utility right now to get that regen boost. My few runes boost mana + cooldown. Spells are Clarity/Tele.
oh yeah, skills go something like q e w q w r q w q w q w e e r e e r
start with heal, then get one point in for the key stun (2 seconds at level one if they're running away) then max heal + aura ASAP. I wait awhile to max radiance because it kills my mana at higher levels.
I'm also wondering whether I'll end up being the team warder more often than not? I haven't been in a game yet where people have bought them.

Taric is usually the buff bot so I'd change that up to grab aegis and starks whenever possible and some hp/mres items because you'll be taking a beating.
AP is entirely optional

When I Taric'd I used to use Shroud -> Treads -> Aegis -> Moar Tanking Items, but now that he got nerfed heavily I'd do something like Shroud -> Treads -> Frozen :x

Profit grandjudge prefers Stark's over Tooth but I think the mana regen and CDR is more beneficial. Q and E, then kite.
I've been having fairly high success going for SOTD early, with all the IAS you end up getting you pretty much make yourself a giant wreckling ball and jax/udyr stomping machine.
I feel that the extra damage on every 4th attack makes her a lot more bursty

i don't wanna burst your bubble, but people'll still suck for a long while after hitting 13... :p
don't open dagger, attack speed is quite possibly the worst stat to invest in early, as it scales best with already built up AP, in the case of taric, when you get your ult. For the first 5 levels, it's a dead item that's only providing a benefit when you're mindlessly pushing creep, and even at level 6, it's not helping a whole lot.
tbh, I think the way to play taric these days is just as an aura whore. he farms relatively well, but doesn't scale off of his individual stats particularly well. I would just be going something like ruby -> boots -> aegis -> merc treads -> starks -> tanking items or something similar so that you can take point on pushes and make everyone around you more effective.
as for being team warder... at level 13, no one else will ward except maybe baron at the end, so yea, you'll usually have to be the warder. And Taric's good for that anyway, because again, he farms pretty well and doesn't gain a whole lot from items, so his money is typically the best to spend on wards.
EDIT: and for the love of god, don't level your stun past 1 until you have to. q,w,w,e,w,r,w,e,w,e,r,e,e,q,q,r,q,q, only deviating to take extra points of heal if you're taking a beating. shatter's your best skill by a bunch. your stun does pathetic damage at all levels and the duration doesn't scale with levels, so just leave it at one while maxing shatter and heal.

People suck even after several hundred wins...
Like Rock Rock On, oh god what a feeder. Does he ever not give up first blood?

I think you've got Q and E mixed up. Q is heal, E is stun. I'm already doing what you said
I go for Nashor's Tooth because it helps me abuse his ability to restore mana and heal cooldown by hitting things, is it just not worth it?

but to answer your question, no, he doesn't ever not give up first blood :p

and, oh, in that case, then you do: e,w,w,q,w,r,w,q,w,q,r,q,q,e,e,r,e,e
stun first, then ult > shatter > heal > stun. been awhile since I've play Taric :p

flat cdr or cdr per level runes on kat?
|
flat cdr
cdr/level catch up at level 13, which is too long to wait for it to be worth it. you're better off taking 6% cdr right off the bat than waiting all game to hit 9%.

GRB is the single best item on kayle. but copying whatever grandjudge does never hurts. the most successful ones i've seen go zerkers, GRB, nashors or madreds. kayle is so dumb right now. she's like a (new)TF + (old)nidalee + zilean ult.

IMO flat cdr is the most overrated rune in the game. actually cdr is the most overrated stat in the game. 10% CDR reduces kat's shunpo by like... 1 second? it's not like you're going to be casting the instant it comes off of CD so the stat is wasted. especially on kat since voracity ends up reseting your CDs anyways. i regret buying flat CDR runes, you can't feel them at all.
speaking of which, arent you the guy that was arguing with me and utahime that anivia would rape the shit out of kat in mid? have you converted to the school of kat?
|
Anivia vs Kat is pretty close IMO, I don't think either would "rape the shit out of" the other if they're both good. But the skill threshold for Anivia is much higher than for Kat (esp in that matchup) so you're just more likely to see a decent Kat demolish a not-good-enough-to-do-this Anivia.
