My w/l has dropped from about +30 to + 8 in a week of solo que. How am I going to get my elo up? I don't mind solo que but when I'm getting paired up with players that don't know what last hitting is I sort of lose faith in ELO..
edit: Is S1 gonna reset elo cause I would love to start fresh. Your opponents should be bad as well. Most likely you don't carry well enough / don't play as well as you think you do, since my winloss hasn't gone anywhere while solo queueing. Could be that US matchmaker works differently from EU's though..

Meanwhile: At higher levels people are better at ending games and pushing, so (after jungle ganking) when Yi comes out with Brutalizer and BF sword he's doing significantly less damage than, say, a Tristana who's gonna farm faster, unless she's laned against Kat or Pantheon, both of whom would have wrecked the game before that point anyways.
And when it comes to jungling, Yi can't actually beat Udyr/Warwick/Shaco, so he has no real jungle control against a proper jungler.
There's a small window of opportunity after jungle ganking phase that Yi has like a Ghostblade and BF Sword that he's pretty tough, but nothing burst damage can't deal with (leaving the can't be slowed aside, I'll happily take a mid-game Yi 1v1 with Kassadin, especially if someone else helps chip in with ~600 damage cuz he'll go down in two cycles). In order to remain relevant Yi's forced to guzzle at least one elixir (Fort) otherwise he simply doesn't have enough HP to do his damage, unless he comes in late to vulture but there're better heroes for this job.
And then late-game you can't balance survivability vs damage on him, so you actually find he goes down to almost everything. For instance, DPS Sion > DPS Yi late-game, which is pretty funny, and sad. That's for AD Yi, who I agree isn't very good. AP Yi is decent though.

Not "mid-high elo" as most people on here think but definitely better than these scrubs that I am playing with.

zzzzzz Singed and Kog'mow are the only free champions this week that I don't have. As long as no more free Twitches and Heimers in every game.
|
How is Singed by the way? I want to be able to have a tank char up my sleeve since I already got a shit ton of the runes, and I was wondering if he was better than Nunu?
|
First game as Heimer (no practice games):
Take solo mid. Why not? Face Kat. Die once being dumb. Go 6/0/4 the rest of the game, rape face, push lanes, win teamfights, and just generally smush.
Maybe my opps were crap.
Edit: Our Garen went 0/1/0 and then left, so it was 4v5.

So do most people have mains? I'm wondering how much it hurts me to just play random champions all the time. I almost always wait to see my teams picks then try and grab something that can flow with it.

Anyone else having problems starting a game?

it's really best to pick a "main" of sorts. You're going to need to fill a rune book with T3 runes at some point, and that can cost over 20,000 IP I hear. So it's best you find at least a couple of similar champions you can play. Or more of a playstyle. Like tanking, or melee DPS, or whatever.

approx queue time: 13 min lol
servers are being pretty crappy
|
I have Armor Pen/Mpen marks, Dodge/MP5 seals, Flat CDR/MP5 Glyphs, and 3 health quints and i can play most anybody and it didn't cost too much ip(although it's still quite a bit) so you might consider that for the runes to buy first, unless there is a specific champion that needs something like health/lvl... I'm working on the other used runes now, though I don't really have any im focusing on since my current runes work great.

thats one thing that frustrates me about lol, the fact that a ton of people main heroes and play heroes that are of the same style. i personally like people to be diverse, not play ashe for 2000 games (it's true). thats why i enjoy all random modes etc, and i really miss that from dota. it's hard to pick heroes every game because you get bored of it, i'm just a guy who can't play a hero 2 games straight no matter what.

The opposite of this entirely. I'd recommend never playing more than 20 games with one hero until you have a LOT of wins -- I still find it improves my play to keep switching, and I'm at 200+ now. Don't stick to one style -- that gimps you, too. Playing multiple heroes teaches you not only about the game, but about that hero's weaknesses, so it's especially important to play heroes you have trouble against.
Tier 3 runes are expensive, but it's no biggie. Save your IP (do NOT buy champions! That makes you play more with one (bad) and eats IP (bad)) and purchase the standard:
3 Flat HP quints 9 armor pen red 9 magic pen red 9 mp5/lvl yellow 9 dodge yellow (for non-mana chars) 9 CDR/lvl blue
These are not all you need, but you won't suffer (on ANY champion) using them.

Oooh kog'maw is on this week, I wanted to try him purely because of what he looks like :}. Also does server busy = server full, keep trying? Should I keep reloading LoL or just wait for it to unbusy?
