And on top of that garen and xin zhao would just chase their janna around the whole fight as rammus galio and nidalee walked right up to me and force me to blow jump flash ghost ult instead of hitting with my auto.

Best way to carry at low levels: Get Galio/MF/etc banned, pick Sona. DRing, Locket, Mejai's, defense/Zhonya's/Lich Bane, 0/9/21, Armor/Armor/MRes/HP, CV/Flash.
At least I got from 1250 to 1400 or something like that, no ranked losses with Sona yet. Yeah, it's on EU, nobody bans or picks Sona on that level it seems. 20 stacks almost every game, 500 AP 40 CDR is hilarious.

the way i have found the best way to carry in this retarded ELO is to take firstblood (even if that means grabbing ignite/exhaust on a hero i would rather have ghost/one or the other), try to snowball into at least 3-0-0, and then bark orders at everyone who will listen. its gotten me the most wins so far 
i mean, i always believed that duo que was the way out, but there are people who won't talk in que and then take the hero that you've claimed and say that they called it first

Be sure that your teammates cant ks you, cos noone listens if you are 0-0-6 even if ashe ECAs for last hit and you never ever see the stun part of ECA.

Sona is great but don't get Locket imo. If you want to go offensive then going for Archangel's is better. I personally prefer to get Soul Shroud because I feel comfortable with managing my mana at that rate and Soul Shroud offers a great aura to the whole team. However, even before that I get Mejai's because getting stacks on Sona is so easy.
Abyssal Sceptre is also something I recommend.

People seem to listen to me as Sona pretty often. I couldn't get a Karthus to buy HP pots along with his Meki, but after I snag a kill and save my allies from certain death a few times people start listening.
Getting a kill with Sona is pretty easy too because at low levels people totally underestimate Q + Passive + towerdive with Flash.
I even died early once because I was standing near our blue but not actually watching, then Rammus powerballed me and Poppy joined the fun. I was able to escape with Flash, our Udyr felt like suiciding into the 3 people that were there now. Then I went back to my top lane where I got hit by Rammus + Poppy once again because I was too confident and low on HP. Needless to say I got flamed as I died.
Fast forward 5 minutes: Totally dominating the lane (still Rammus + Poppy), 2/1/0 stats. So people started listening to me again :p

I like Locket so far. It builds from Cata, which is great. The CDR is really nice. And I totally spam enough to make Locket useful. Bear in mind that I don't run MP5 runes.
Soul Shroud is only good if your allies profit from the CDR imo (locket has the MP5 aura too). And at low levels that's kinda meh.
Archangel's doesn't provide as much survivability as Locket and no CDR. It isn't even very efficient. Certainly not the type of item I want.

To be honest I feel that League of Legends is less forgiving early early game than dota, despite Riot's aims to make it newb friendly. TP scrolls so that you don't have to walk back and lose massive exp> Minimal gold loss at low level.

Nah...LoL is still a lot more forgiving for a few reasons:
1. You're less likely to die in the first place, due to LOLGHOST/FLASH/CLEANSE.
2. If someone dies, it's likely to be bottom lane, who probably has another partner that can take the EXP anyway, thus not wasting any.
3. EXP normalization. Low level death EXP pretty meaningless in long run.
4. Turret AI. You can stroll back into lane and hug turrets, knowing they WILL protect you. Not possible in DotA.

so easy to win in a solo ranked, predict the team build of the other team, *in europe there are 2 mains team builds* after you've predicted what they will be going. ninja the key element of their team build. for example if they're going a heavy survivability team, like nunu/galio/nidalee/MF/rammus.
steal their rammus. they'll have no chance at all because there isnt a champion that is able to fill rammus's role in that MU.
they'll be confused. get a garen or any other low dmg champion and die. gg wp em
