Rylai's scepter is also really good on him. His ult causes the smaller slow but it ticks every second. | ||

If you plan on specking your masteries defensively, dodge seals make sense, but otherwise flat armor or HP/Level seals aren't a bad choice. Quints should probably be Flat HP or Magic Pen, not sure. the problem with Tank Morde is that he's not really all that scary in terms of damage output, and thus sorta fails as a tank because he can't draw any fire, because seriously, unless he gets a clone, he's not that scary. I think I remember brees saying that his favorite Morde builds involved sorc shoes, haunting guise and rylai to open up, I'd assume into sunfire capes or something stupid here to help with your defense and also with your ability to dish out damage. | ||

Tank morde has worked quite well for me. Scary or not, never dying while having double sunfire and constant spam dealing damage works pretty well... I find it impossible to die after like 30 minutes if they don't have someone who's absolutely megafeed. Later on you can just 1v5 them np np and stay alive for ages while your team whacks on them. That's been my experience anyway, he's super easy to farm with and you'll have amazing tanking items in no time, after which you can just kill them without losing any hp. Question: Is there any TL activity in LoL EU, or do I have to make a new US account from ground up? Although noob-bashing might be entertaining if I could premade with some other players.. =) | ||

Well I have Alistar just outside the top 3 because he has difficulty initiating, especially since flash is being removed. He makes up for it with his pushing but honestly I'd rather have my tank go in first and do damage rather than push lanes. | ||

Other than that, he's only really good as part of the old school aoe/push teams because he forces team fights better than any other champion. But that's not the current trendy thing. | ||

I just also happen to think this thread slightly overstates the metagame shift, as pivotal battles are often still 5v5 and involve well placed AoE disable -> AoE burst as the deciding factor. Shen's not nearly as beefy as he was anymore and the net result is that I think the list of viable tanks is quite extensive right now, each requiring their team to play towards their specific strengths to be effective. Since viable AoE disable is no longer the sole deciding factor behind a tank, and shen isn't straight up better than everyone else anymore, you can see quite a bit of diversity in successful tanks right now. And that being said, you'll still run into a fucking gay ass team every once in awhile where you wish your fucking gragas had just picked someone who legitimately could pick a fight at their tower for you complete change of pace, I think this is southlight's wet dream with Janna right here: ![[image loading]](http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7084/utahswetdream.jpg) | ||

I really wanted to try out Heimerdinger, but I might just become impatient and buy him. All I remember is one game I had to mid lane ashe vs him and got demolished. Opinions on him would be appreciated as I haven't heard much about him here. I know he is a defensive fighter mostly, is that all he can do? I am guessing with the turrets you can establish good map control maybe? So yes I am getting bored of ashe. I am starting to play against better people now and she just gets crushed every game. Becoming a little too frail for my liking. | ||

Becoming a little too frail for my liking. In my opinion he's a really boring champion, but he's pretty much an ap carry who after the recent changes can be a lot more offensive than you'd think. I guess instead of me telling you a nooby opinion, go to tv.zeroboy.net/clgame, and in ondemand go to H-R -> Heimerdinger and watch all HotShotGG and CleverAdvisor games(Satashi is bad). EDIT: sigh OKAY =D US client almost finished downloading, anyone up for some games at superlow ELO premading with like a lvl 3 or something? | ||

Amumu, Malphite, and to an extent Rammus (he takes a lot longer to get there, though, but his attack animation buff may help) are the three top tanks IMO, in that order, or maybe Rammus > Malphite. Alistar's tanking power got killed by the Flash nerf, the heal nerf, and his inability to farm. Perhaps the attack animation buff may have affected him, too, though, and so now he can actually get gold, to like, do anything. The reason they're the top 3 tanks is because once farmed they can solo enemy heroes, eat damage, and initiate almost whenever they want. This is crucial because against a team with Janna/Ashe/Heimer (worst-case scenario-ish) you're pretty fucked with anyone else. Shen used to be top-tier because he could just put up feint and walk in and there was nothing you could do about it. Not anymore - his tanking power is even worse than Udyr, particularly once Udyr gets Locket. | ||
