Anyone know exactly where I catch a Metang? Which part specifically of the Giant Chasm is the "Crater Forest?" Is it that maze-y thing forest with the ledges before Kyurem?
So I just beat Black using a 62 Samurott and a 63 Simisear. >.>
I'm reading this thread and I feel like the biggest noob ever seeing as there's apparently like, actual strategy behind teams and their moves and shit.
So, tl;dr. Play Platinum for story first? Or just play B/W?
The only thing you would really miss if you skip Platinum is the Torn World (or is it Distortion World in US?) with Giratina-O Forme, and the Battle Frontier. There's some extra stuff with a new good guy and bad guy, but it's really not important. The Torn World looks cool, but there's absolutely nothing there except Giratina-O and a bit of extra interaction with Cynthia, not even wild Pokemon. It's not worth playing the entire game just for 5-10 minutes of true extra content. And the Battle Frontier is pretty much irrelevant with B/W out.
Go with B/W.

Yes, it's for the Unova Dex only. In other words, only the new Pokemon. I'm guessing next year they will involve all the older guys.
The big change from the 2009 season to the 2010 season was that they allowed specific Ubers (680 Bast Stat Pokes, like Mewtwo and Kyogre) to participate, with restrictions of only having 2 active in any battle, regardless of how many you had on your team, which also forced the the Levels to be similar to Battle Tower (as in, any Pokemon lv 51-100 were brought down to lv 50, but 49 and under were untouched). I imagine that they will do the same thing (which many, MANY people regarded as a mistake) or they will simply include past Generation Pokemon.

Oh, dear.
You can run through the main story of the game with just about any Pokemon. The only time you need strategy is in the Battle... Subway, or when playing actual people/trainers on WiFi or at Events like the VGC.
Haven't bought B and W yet, but are Sword dance sweepers still ridic for Gyms/Elite fours?I knew I used a Scizor last time in Platinum and stuff to just destroy the elite four(or, any AI really) with 3 sword dances and a quick attack or bullet punch.

is the best site for competitive battling (although it's also the only one I know, serebii has some comeptitive stuff, but it sucks and bulbapedia is mainly a wiki)

Yeah as long as he's still alive. And correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you can kill him over and over? Read it somewhere, not totally sure.
Yes you can kill him over and over. Just leave the room and come back and he has reappeared.
He also gives +3 HP Ev's so I haven't caught him on my Black yet for that exact purpose. I'm really annoyed at the lack of EV removing berries in B&W. I shouldn't have to wait for freaking Dream World just to optimize my EV training. I'm really close to just ARing the berries because frankly, that's a negligible cheat. It's stupid I can't get them as it is.
Best natures for battling depends on the pokemon but generally its natures that increase the stat you want to emphasize and decreases the stat you don't need at all. There are rare cases where the decreased stat is more important, like for Ferrotorn and Forretress but those should be self explanatory.
