I'm going to send a few E-mails to Mike, who directs the VGC in the USA, and see what news he can give me. He's my buddy! =D I'll see if Marriland knows anything as well. Tonikaku... There is currently no information on locations for this year, however the locations for last year were as follows: (in order) Seattle, Washington San Mateo (or Diego), California PhoeNix, Arizona Dallas, Texas Atlanta, Georgia Newark, New Jersey (in 2009, it was Philly, PA) European Locations: Lyon, France Madrid, Spain Munich, Germany Wales?, UK ???, Italy (I think..) I believe we will have more places this year. Mike was also looking for stops in Ontario/Vancouver for Canada, and asked about Australia as well. Below, I will list the rules for the VGC for this year, for those that are interested. I will also attach the Link to our website. Let me know if you are going! SOURCE: http://skarmbliss.com/forum/index.php?topic=756.0 + Show Spoiler + From Pokebeach: The rules for Japan's Video Game World Qualifier Tournaments have been announced in BlacK and White's video game guide. Bangiras has translated the rules below. Their qualifier tournaments will begin in March and winners will be able to compete at Worlds 2010 in San Diego for the title of World Champion. Whether or not these rules will apply to America's qualifier tournaments remains to be seen [obviously these will be our rules, as they're not gonna divide the format ffs]. * Only Pokemon from Isshu can be used (excluding Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genosect). * Each match is a double battle, though the amount of Pokemon each player will use in a match is not mentioned. It might be bring six Pokemon and use four in each match like in the past. * Pokemon should be Level 50. Pokemon higher than that will be lowered to 50, but Pokemon Level 49 and below will remain the same level. * You can't use duplicate Pokemon or Items. * You can't change your Pokemon, Items, etc. during the tournament. So cons First...well, Only Isshu Pokemon is potentially crappy, especially if the RNG isn't cracked by then. No auto-level feature like in HGSS sucks a bit, gotta make sure to keep your Pokemon at 50 (dunno if this makes any current BW Pokemon inelegible or not, someone look Into that). Not being able to swap out items is meh, means you can't use the last 2 Pokemon on a 6 man team to store extra items. As for the positives, doubles obviously, so at least it's a format we're all familiar with. Other than that...well, at least we can practice now knowing what we're doing format-wise? XD I dunno, I keep feeling there will be more rules, but if we're Only using Isshu Pokemon, this limits the format considerably; there will definitely be a Way to tier it, and I can't help but feel this limits some Pokemon quite a bit without all the weather abilities (unless you opt to set it up manually). Interesting to note, all Pokemon besides the 2 main legendaries and 5 event Pokemon from BW are allowed, including the djinn trio and New Cat/dog/Gerbil trio (they are under 50?). Overall, I'M excited that we can at least prepare now, a tad saddened we'll have to scramble to breed stuff to use in BW, but overall I think this should be quite the interesting format compared to the last 2.

That would certainly cut down on a lot of options.. Unova is the English name for Isshu. It only has the gen V Pokes. Don't listen to all the narrow-minded nostalgia kids. Having to use only new Pokemon is better.

Luckily there is a definitely lack of grass types so he would utilize that special defense stat well... Another good water is carracosta and run the shell smash thang. Seems like he would be easy to revenge kill because he's weak to ground/fighting, and is super slow.

That would certainly cut down on a lot of options.. Yea, sorry. The post is from when the games were only coming out/announced in Japan. Isshu = Unova. I do get where you're coming from, tbh. I'm gonna be sad not being able to use my beloved Ludicolo or my Metagross... but looking at it from another prospective, EVERYTHING will be new, from the moves/movesets that can be used, to the ton of new Pokemon (excluding the obvious Ban List). Sidenote: Things like entry hazards and stalling DO NOT WORK in the Doubles format. There's not nearly enough switching for hazards to do their damage, and stalling is much, much more inefficient in this metagame since 2 things can hit you in 1 turn, instead of only 1. The only thing that could do it properly last year was Lugia, and SOMETIMES Blissey (metagame was overrun with Special Attackers).

So, I just "beat" Soul Silver. Got all 16 badges, caught Ho-oh, Suicune, Lugia. I haven't faced the E4 again with their new pokes, tried the battle frontier, and haven't gone on a lot of rock climbing. In fact, I've never played any sort of battle frontier in any game so far. I put in around 40 hours into the game and went through it with Typhlosion, Tentacruel, Togetic, Espeon, and HM slaves. My first physical attacker was the Snorlax at around the 5th badge of Kanto lol. Enough of my rambling. I might take a break from Pokemon for a while and I'll probably play a Phoenix Wright or Layton game. I just want to get a bunch of opinions on my next game. Should I play B/W or Platinum? I already beat Diamond, but I always play the 3rd iteration. I want to play Plat for the story. I'm asking this because I find it kind of a waste to play a game such as SS or Plat and play through all the frontier stuff, and whatnot when everyone has already moved onto the next gen. So, tl;dr. Play Platinum for story first? Or just play B/W?
