Single player: Just don't let it get hit... look at it's move pool, attack stat, and speed stat... archeops carries me through single player, i just one hit all pokemon. Multiplayer: I can only think of three ways to use it: 1) Lead... just start sweeping from the word go with stone edge, EQ, acrobatics, u-turn 2) Revenge kill (same kind of move set) 3) In conjunction with cofagrigus's ability... you let cofagrigus get hit by a physical move, then hit it with archeops. Archeops then loses the defeatest trait and BOOM, powerful sweeper. ^^^ most likely will be BL or UU

If you don't get it don't worry, a good 90% of the playerbase for pokemon don't. I'm honestly regretting taking Tepig. There are a lot of good fire alternatives, Volcarona stands out the most in my book, but not that many great grass alts. Serperior is prolly the best grass type in this set excluding legendarys... pssh i have never played a pokemon game where i kept the starter more than 7ish gym badges. they arent ever very good, the ability sucks, and i dont want to constantly reset to get a good nature and its not worth it to try to get a female to breed and then start over with. the starters serve their purpose as an early game pokemon- usually to about 50 i drop them. why do you need a grass type though? i have never found myself ever needing a grass type, except for misty in red blue because her starmie is OP lol, but even then i would just grab an oddish and train it for about 5 minutes and then destroy her. When you say "they aren't ever good, and their abilities suck." You make us have to correct the fact that you're completely wrong. In every generation there has been at least one starter that is at least BL and at least one that is a complete trap/'wrong' choice. Whether or not that is the case is the question at hand.

Because in single player it doesn't matter what you do. When you talk about Pokemon, it's only about multiplayer, because ANYTHING GOES IN SINGLE PLAYER. It's like Starcraft. Do you talk about how you're awesome at beating multiplayer after you mass battlecruisers off two base in singles to stomp the computer? It means nothing! Also, you said and to all of the flamers, i played on a team for a couple of months and we played competitively and were high tier soo... i think i know what im talking about. Stating you had some sort of experience. And stating that your experience was valid, which clearly it wasn't. And team + competition implies multiplayer. Because you know, you can't have a single player Pokemon competition? I'll stop now. + Show Spoiler + Also, I don't read block comments with no formatting, no punctuation, no grammar and no spell checking, since it's obvious you haven't put a lot of thought or effort in your posts or ideas, so I'll treat it as such and ignore it (mostly).

i do recant my statement of they arent ever good. that is a bit too extreme. but honestly, i liked all of the red blue starters, i hated all the ruby etc, feraligatr is ok in hgss but i really didnt like him at all in gold silver because of the lack of icefang and i would just replace him with gyrados typhlosion was ok too and i always needed a fire type so he actually stayed on my team the whole game but i didnt really like him. i thought torterra was a bamf and was usually my pick, infernape just never felt like enough and empoleon was sometimes a good enough tank for me for a while so it was also a big pick for me. but in the end they all became obsolete when something better came along besides in red blue because those were just awesome. i wish gamefreak would put in a better grass btw. they are almost always the trap + Show Spoiler + @above im done too because you are just stubborn as shit and i was talking about single player. you obviously are much more hardcore than me because i always refer to the single player in pokemon because that is more fun to me. it is actually the whole reason i buy the game. whenever i want to play something against other people, i turn to SC2. i normally do put more thought into my posts and i do regret that i have not in this thread.

Also, I can't update the OP since the edit button isn't physically there on the post anymore.

Gigalith (single type rock pokemon, with huge def, and a naturally large special def stat) Has huge attack, and a decent move pool. Under sand storm... it's special def goes up to 105... ya... Carracosta: Water/Rock... wut wut wut, you mean a rock poke that isn't weak to water? I like... wait, it also cannot be killed in 1 turn or I can chose for it to take 25% less damage from super effective moves... and it has 133 def... and 95 Sdef under sand storm. Archeops: I STUPIDLY powerful sweeper (move pool and 140 attack)... and wait, under sandstorm it gets 95 spef... damn...

http://www.smogon.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=156 After reading through most of the ones (about new pokes only), it seems they think the new metagame is even more offensively favored. Specifically, the way ones team either USES or DEALS WITH the new Ground/Steel pokemon, Excadrill. That pokemon is such a beast (his base 88 speed doubles in a Sandstorm with the right ability). There are many other analyses there as well, though most aren't completed. Personally, I'm digging the new Grass pokemon, Whimsicott. Her ability gives her non-damaging moves priority like quick attack (not to mention she has pretty damn good base speed on top of that). SubSeed, Stun Spore, etc.. (my only qualm is she does not get Sleep Powder, but that might be a good thing).

+ Show Spoiler [plot] + Think about it. In a world where having Pokemon is taboo and everyone accepts Team Plasma, the main character still has Pokemon and is part of some underground movement of people who still use Pokemon to free the Pokemon from Team Plasma. It'd be badass.
