Spooky/Guard Crush were some nice winners to finals. I guess i'm just frustrated with Phoenix because those wins look like garbage spam and one lucky hit, after which a 3 hit combo kills. Much cooler to see Tronne styling all over, imo.

Thats true, I had to watch while on mute last night due to some heavy workload.

Nice to see NerdJosh win something, he had a huge grin on his face, one of those guys that you can cheer for to win just because East Coast has all the hype around Chris G or Mugetsu or whoever else in EMP.

Ugh this game hates me, first the DLC issues, and now losing the damn disc, the day before i was going to copy it to hard drive. seriously my whole day tomorrow was susposed to be practice mvc3 and practice sc2.

New patch out, Cap America infinite is gone. Good thing too, he was almost a mediocre character for a while!

Zero glitch is fixed. They fixed it in a way that's kinda lame though, if you use a snapback with zero powered up, you lose your powerup super.


edit: phew, dhc glitch still in. Man would I have raged if that got removed haha

why is this thread so much bigger than SSF4? im curious because im torn on which game to buy, is the experience and community that much bigger and better in MvC3 or is the game simply more accessible to team liquid.

Well, SSF4 was a revision, so the old SF4 thread got replaced, and prior to the old SF4 thread most SF4 talk was just in our fighting games thread. Which was previously a SF3: 3rd Strike thread. lol.

The communities for each game seem pretty similar in size, all the recent majors have had almost identical numbers for SSF4 & MvC3. And considering one game is a brand new hype machine, and the other is in this lame waiting period until AE comes for DLC in June, I think it's pretty safe to say that SF4 will have the largest community of players.

This patch doesnt upset me at all, although I wish they would revise captain america, iron man, and fix pheonix. then id be happy.

infinites should not be in the game though.

Theoretically, they shouldn't. But to act as if they contribute nothing to good gameplay is absurd. Sometimes, its those things that add the depth to the gameplay.

Take for instance Cap, He wasn't even top-tier with his shield slash infinite, that added depth and an additional threat and reward for anyone who had the execution to do it consistently. Removing it just took away one of the tools that added a different layer to his game.

Plus, its not like everyone can't do a 100% combo, and the infinite isn't even brain dead easy to begin with.

TBQH, I really don't like the thought of patching marvel the first time it came out, let alone more and more patches, but I'll reserve judgment for now. I wish capcom would've waited a while for the metagame to develop before actually patching. game's been out for only a couple of months. But that's just me. I have a different view of patching for Fighting games as opposed to SC or even War3/Dota

Jill was INTENDED to have an infinite just look in the official strategy guide it's right there I've said this before.. Captains being removed is kind of a bummer because you need really good execution to pull it off so it wasn't like you could just do it with ease you needed to work for it.

she has another one that isn't in the guide. it's a non corner infinite too. but it involves beign able to start feral crouch up very fast.

Was anyone actually using Captain's infinite very decisively anyways? In all the videos I've seen so far most Captain players just stop after 4-5 iterations.

people used it long enough to build another meter to get a super, but thats about it.

now capt's "I need backup" has never been more true capt doesn't have an otg he doesn't have a lot of good tools i believe all his supers are not safe on block, he lacks overheads no otg low priority in the shield slash no air dash not even a double jump the list goes on it's a shame marvel pretty much removed capt from being high tier play unless something else breaking is discovered with him which knowing mavhel it would be patched t-t, they could have at least given his cartwheel some invulnerability to tricks and cross-ups

He still has normals with good reach/speed, shield slash that beats most assists and hit confirms into easy BnB's that build good meter. I have yet to see him in ANY matches that's tourney level where the infinite mattered over just building some meter and supering them. He has tools like every other character so I wouldn't rule him out just yet.
