Not really. If I have all 3 characters and X-Factor saved up, but all you have is 1 character with X-Factor, you still have to go through 2 of my characters before you get to my last one.
Then I activate X-Factor myself, and yours is almost out. Plus your last character is probably hurt by my first 2.
The advantage is always* in favor of the person who activates it last, especially if they have more characters alive.
*Now, If I would have blown my X-Factor earlier in the match to kill one of your characters, and you save your X-Factor until your last remaining character, then I am potentially in alot of trouble. You could blow my whole team up if i'm not extremely careful. That is the tradeoff of X-Factor. When you activate it early, you're saying "I know I can beat his last character even though he has X-Factor, if I play correctly.
What you're saying agrees with my experience so far, typically the person who activates x factor first loses. Even still, I don't particularly like the mechanic, and the comebacks it lets happen aren't exciting at all. They let you capitalize on an opponents mistakes too much for too little effort.

Cable's assist is very, very broken
Wrong... Cable's assist was above average at best. His AHVB is reason he's in god tier. I present to you "Hyper Viper: The Motion Picture", enjoy.

honestly snapping in this game is so easy that i don't see phoenix being a consistent problem for much longer. once people get more comfortable with their setups you're gonna see a lot of dead marvel girls early in matches. there are a few unblockable setups off of snaps online already that if you don't xfc the blockstun, you're going to die.

sentinel though i don't have a comment yet
I suppose I need to figure out some snap set ups, but in the meantime simply not killing regular phoenix seems to work fine. Damage her down to 20% ish but just dont kill her and run for the rest of the match lol
That doesn't work if they have a significant lead though by the time she comes out, so I guess a snapback plan would be more consistent.
Xfactor definitely changes the risk/reward ratio on calling your assist a great deal. I can't see many situations where I'd want to risk the assist.
The only times I really hate it are when you have a 3 character vs 1 situation but your first 2 are low on hp. This would normally be a huge advantage situation, but if they pop your first 2 quickly, they still have some xfactor left for your third char. Even if you also have xfactor, you're on thin ice there, as it's basically just a first hit wins scenario until their's runs out. That's generally the only time I rage about it

I've played a good 100 games versus my brother and I've found Dr Doom helps with his ranged attacks but she just seems to attack so much faster even her Kick Ulti seems faster than most others.
Any suggestions on a good Assist that might help me get him off my back so I can make some ground again, he likes to use akuma with Shryouken assist thing (not sure the name) when i use advance guard to make some ground.
Thanks
For reference I'm using Dr Doom/Dante/IronMan (swap in Zero for Dante some times)
You gotta learn to push block pressure attacks when ur forced into the corner. use doom in the back and run hidden missles for a good assist. Dante is good on point and can DHC into iron man pretty effectively so try switching up your order.
If you're getting rushed down using hidden missles switch to molecular shield.
And the guy who said snap phoenix in is right. That is the best way to deal with her before she gets her level 5 super.
I played this game at a friends and usually I hate fighting games I just feel they are way to button masher. (besides SSB just to fun..) Had fun playing this one though and hope to try it out a little bit more and might buy it with my limited cash flow its a big deal to buy a game.
i want to let it be known that i hate this game! Not because i dont love it... i do love it... i am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad that i want to slaughter a village. Most of my matches are actually pretty close... when the time runs out..... gaaaaaah
why can't i create a lobby with my own rules... lowest damage and no timer is how all my friends play all the time, and it makes for really tense crazy long fights. i dont understand mvc3 why must you kick my ass so badly =(
So much love for Dante. I am like the biggest DMC fanboy ever and the fact that Dante is ridiculously over the top and has more moves than everyone else combined just makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.
