Though the criticism isn't unjustified, I've always found it a bit odd that people in the fighting game community complain about this moreso than I hear "casual" gamers complain about buying this years new NFL game which is exactly the same as last years except a few more annoying play by play sound bites. And sports games always get in the top 10 sellers of the year every single time. I am more inclined to support Capcom than some shitty EA game so maybe this doesn't bother me so much anymore.

edit: to be clear, this isn't directed at you, Arolis.
I understand this when I read it on SRK or wherever else.
But on a site that for almost a decade was devoted solely to Starcraft: Brood War, which was released only 8 months after Starcraft, I'm just in awe. This should be the one place on the internet that people treat an expansion as a good thing.
No matter what happens, I'm looking to learn a lot of new technology from this year's evo stream
I think they should one day add Anita (Dark Stalker character) to Marvel Vs Capcom (she only appeared in Puzzle Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes). + Show Spoiler +
Marvel Super Heroes:
Puzzle Fighter:
How can anyone "not" like a girl who points at things?
how dope would bbhood be yo. needs c.A c.B a1+a2 :p
that and the fact that zoning feels kind of weak in this game. after this evo, if it wasn't already obvious but its quite clear the shape of the metagame is aggressive rushdown (specifically BFF's and/or advancing assists such as akuma/taskmaster + teleport characters). this is also an amazing reaction by viscant imo by switching his his IM out for haggar, who amazing vs beserker slash/crossup teleports (something even t.bonne cant do. hell you even need to retaliate much much faster to combo after a defensive tron call, compared to the HARD knockdown haggar gives you) although im still calling it here. vergil is the next spiral
been fucking around with haggar/dante/doom now. OTG starter+ haggar assist = BEST FRIENDS
pretty cool how if haggar can land a single hit (if ever) he can dhc glitch from hooligan throw. been enjoying the game a bit more when playing doom though. should try out viper sometime later

I'm pretty much a noob to the fighter genre but was looking to buy marvel vs capcom, what do you guys think about this vs street fighter or mortal kombat? Is marvel vs capcom just a load of characters that are sort of generic just like what happend to brawl and melee?

MvC3 did get a lot of shit at the beginning, but I really enjoy the game. It had pretty good depth and it has any easy system to get into. If you want to get it then wait for UMvC3 coming this November. If you compare Marvel vs SSF4 AE, Marvel is 1st a lot faster, combos are a lot longer, and I think SF has more depth to it than Marvel but thats just me. I don't know much about Mortal Kombat.
the reason a lot of ppl like me are bothered by umvc3 is that mvc3 was basically paying $70 for an incomplete game
the comparison to broodwar isnt really apt because that game had a whole new singleplayer campaign and whatnot, also sc1 vanilla was already pretty damn good.
ps3 frame rate drops, the 360 frame skip that happens on older xboxes at 89 seconds, no spectator mode, unplayable netcode, still the bad type of button config, them basically not even playtesting xfactor, all the glitches, the hitboxes, the system of the game etc
i regret spending my money on the original mvc3. i'm not falling for this shit again, i'm not buying another capcom fighter. i hope skullgirls is successful, because i will be playing the shit out of that.
I have got my money's worth out of MvC3 incredibly enjoyable specially with friends. While its a shame they are releasing a 'expansion' i expect it to be worth it. Perhaps my brother while change his stupid team and i'll get a chance to play some other heroes also :D

Zoning and trapping are weak, because of X-Factor. It totally screws over keepaway by removing chip damage and red life regenerating very quickly. The speed boost favors rushdown almost exclusively by making it easier to get in and creates near-instant high/low mixups. Don't get me started on the ridiculous and redundant damage boost. This game could of been great if X-Factor wasn't so stupid.

Yea, I don't mind updated versions and such like 20XX of whatever sports game or like Super Street Fighter 4, or Blazblue CS... but MvC3/UMvC3 bother me because it seems pretty obvious that the game wasn't done at all. It seems more like a paid beta->real release, not an update.
Really hoping to see more Ultimate info soon... I know they've had copies available at tournies (like evo), trying to dig up all the info I can. WTB some hidden cellphone video footage !
Man Hiro's Modok on IPW tourney is just sick to watch. Killing whole characters with modok is impressive, "Dr Scholls!". His doom is sick too, he needs to refine his overall play but love seeing new stuff.
