At least from my experience pubstomps aren't particularly one-sided, as the organized team tends to "have fun" instead of playing uber serious, but in retrospect I guess that's not always going to be the case, so my bad with the terminology. For instance, with DotA my friends and I would usually pick retarded heroes or try to pull off some amusing combo. It would usually not work, but we'd laugh about it, get steamrolled (or in the odd chance it works/we're individually better players, we overcome), and play another loose game. I don't think we'd all pick serious heroes and play seriously until we see a bunch of people tagged with the same name or if someone started trash-talking in the countdown screen. My point was more that, it's frustrating not being able to DO stuff like that. I'd like to pick Janna and have fun with her spells. The only options I have right now are a practice game, which tend to be retarded and useless anyways, or solo-queue, but I like playing with people I'm comfortable with and chatting as I play, so solo-queue just isn't "fun" for me, winning/losing aside. I also hate screwing over 4 other people by not playing "up to my Elo," as I'm well aware of how that feels. I don't know. I'm still playing, but I'm finding my playtime severely restricted by "who else is on" that I can play with, or else my winrate literally drops close to 0. I suppose if I lose enough games my Elo will plummet enough that I'll start picking on mediocre players again, but I don't think I have the patience nor desire to tank to have a decent shot of winning despite queuing with subpar friends. Not to mention playing with Baikin would jump my Elo again for balancing anyways.

I'd guess thats what practice games are for --- messing around without impacting your elo (or others elo), for times when you dont feel like playing up to your full potential. I've seen game hosts in SC specifically stack teams plenty of times for pub stomps (boot out any skilled players on the opposite team). Its seriously irritating and borders on shameful. ![]()

Anyways my point was just that the system is nice for a competitive game, but not so good for casual gaming. It's hard to have that even ground though, and I'm hoping ranked/non-ranked will make it so you can have casual games that aren't utter junk (ie. practice games). Few days ago I had to play a practice game buying nothing but potions and I still went Legendary with Veigar (whom I suck at). And level-wise the teams looked okay, so... *shrugs*

Well HoN is most like DotA in terms of having the same items/heroes/deniability/UI but if I wanted that, I would just play DotA. It's not like graphics matter that much. (To me.) LoL has many DotA like aspects but it's still unique and fun in it's own way as long as you aren't expecting a complete DotA type experience. I've played both HoN and LoL while both were still in Beta and I'm 100% playing LoL now because of the constant patching and new items/heroes/etc being released. It's not a 100% perfect game but it's still damn fun.

They actually have game designers who've shown they can produce a new experience that is fun and pretty well balanced. Hon went the safe path, simply copying other people's work. Who knows if/when they'll be able to create anything on their own.

It's been a while since I played with anyone from TL but if there is anyone without me on their list, add 'Mazer'. I'll occassionally invite any person online from my list to get a game going but people rarely ever accept as of late.
