1) Team must have a mass-disable tank, a ranged DPS, and a ranged caster. The last two are "whatevers." 2) Team should ideally be 3 range 2 melee. 2 range 3 melee is doable but your chances of winning plummet against a team with AoE. Most people like to play these "whatever" heroes and it's kind of annoying. Gee, thanks for not helping the team any.

I'm guessing it won't help you out that much though, as Alistar/Amumu/Malphite all fill the same role in the teamfight stage and if you don't particularly enjoy it with one, I doubt playing another will do it for you. Malphite does have the best 1v1 prowess out of all of them though, so I dunno, might be worth a try. EDIT: and in that light, Shen is also worth considering, as he's probably the last on the list of mass disable tanks and also has some 1v1 prowess and stuff (can't think of another one besides those 4). Rammus also sorta fits the bill, but he's massively hurt by only having one pinpoint true disable.

Second, was wondering, what does Twisted Fate do when laning against heroes with superior range? To be more specific, I just got my behind handed to me whilst laning together with Malphite against Ashe and Evelynn. So I got weakened by Ashe's Volley and auto attacks with superior range, to die horribly to stun ganks, before I could get oracle's, and even oracle's didn't help against the superior range and burst damage. So, what should one do, assist the team/gank with destiny from 6 on, get potions/vampiric scepter against the harrass, switch lanes? For a more complete image, they also had a roaming Twitch. I realise wards are necessary, but together with the need to get oracle's and gimped farming due to Ashe's harrass, I couldn't afford as many as I'd like. Also, in said game, we had a Kayle and a Malphite, so I thought: great, we have at least 1 tank. And though Kayle seems more support to me than a true tank, the Malphite went DPS. Not that I did so great, I was totally slaughtered and I died horribly multiple times to stunganks, and keeping the Oracle's up gets expensive at such a point. All in all, only our Teemo had a positivie K/D ratio, so we were pretty outclassed as a whole. So, any advice for an aspiring Twisted Fate, especially in such a situation, against champs with superior range?

Regarding my lag spike issue, apparently I'm not the only one with the problem. However, Riot does not have a direct fix for it. I guess it had something to do with the Kennen patch. http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=93247 Regarding my drivers, i tried to update it but it said it was up-to-date so...yeah. If you have any lag problem but still want to play i would suggest Gangplank all you do is kill your own creep (your tank creep) and just ult in team fights. But most importantly b/c u lag all u can do is auto attack and gangplank is awsome at that. just stack crit + dmg item and let the auto attack and lag get u the kills. Very easy hero to play i was able to get positive record even with a 10 second lag + running into towers although i keep clicking back. so yes.. if u lag but you want to play, the answer is gangplank. The thing is i don't normally lag, and its lag spikes, and its really really disgusting. And it makes playing impossible. There are a few people with this problem. And Riot doesn't have a fix for it, which means i can't play. You know, it's possible that it's a computer problem and you are all doing something wrong. Just because it happens during a game of LoL doesn't mean it's Riot's fault. Kill all your background processes, like auto-updaters and calendars and basically anything that's not a core system process. You can shut explorer.exe while you're in game, too. i run game booster which kills background processes. I have tried turning down the visual settings and I have tried "fast terrain", still lags. It was perfectly fine before, and I haven't messed with the settings since I installed it for the first time, so I doubt it's my computer, but I'll keep checking the threads in the LoL forums.

um, so I guess we need to start at your build. as TF, I'm a big supporter of 11/0/19 masteries, with Flat HP Quints, Armor Pen Marks, HP/Level Seals, and Mana Regen Glyphs. Then you need to open doran's shield, no question. If you show up vs. any reasonable opposition with < 600 HP and as little burst as TF provides, you're just going to get your ass handed to you and you really need the armor to mitigate creep aggro when you harass and the HP regen is just much more efficient than the lifesteal off of Sword early. Go with Flash or Ghost and Cleanse. I've been running Ghost + Flash for a couple weeks now and I'm just gonna be straight with ya and say that after those 2 weeks, I don't think I'll be caught not running cleanse anymore. It just helps you escape so many early ganks and in the late game gives your team a get out of jail free card when you make a mistake and get disabled and stranded. on side lanes, open PaC and then level SD > PaC > Ult > WCs, only deviating to pick up your ult at 6 and WCs at first sight of a banshee's veil. Against a lane as squishy as Ashe/Eve, you just need to sit back when Eve cloaks, and when you can see her, harass the Ashe in conjunction with the Malphite by Gold Carding on a 2 or 3 SD count to ensure that you get bonus damage from both your PaC and SD when harassing. With Malphite's burst, you really should be able to harass Ashe quite well when you're not in danger of just dying to Eve's burst. Against Eve + Twitch, you can only hope to ward, but that should keep both in check. It's not your job to get oracles as TF cause you die too fast, that's Malphite or Kayle's job

Alistar's the only one of the three that fulfills two crucial roles in one: that is, a mass disable tank and a healing support. They are, however, nerfing his support in the upcoming patch (big sadface). I find him incredibly difficult to use, and you probably feel the same, because he has no actual movement assistance. Thus, the moment you run into a CC character, of which there are many, you actually become extremely reliant on summoner spells to "do your job." Otherwise you just find yourself stuck in no-man's-land on a one-way path to doom. Amumu's like a poor man's Malphite/Alistar, as he's actually the worst true "tank" of the bunch. He has no real innate tanking ability (the passive damage reduc is laughable) but he has the most damage output of the three, at least in a protracted fight (thanks to that DoT). He's an odd hero where you have to tank by forcing them to deal with your damage output, but generating damage output causes your tanking ability to fall, so you have to balance it as well as possible. That's part of the reason why Sunfire was/is fairly popular on him. Malphite is the most balanced of the three, I think, as he has the best initiation skill (though I would hesitate to initiate with it most of the time) in the game (on similar CD as Amumu's ult), a snare, and most importantly a point-blank AoE skill that slows attack speed... which helps him "tank" even if he's not being hit. He's also got probably the best 1v1 potential because of that attack speed debuff skill (that does a good 300+ damage) and a snare/self-speed boost (that also does around 300 damage). I think of the three he's got one of the worst base survivability though (low base armor/MR) and he's also the most gold-hungry. But that's why you jungle with him o/ I think if you find Alist and Amu boring you should try Malphite, and if you can't stand him either then you'll probably have to either give up tanking or try again with a premade. I've pretty much sealed up jungle Malphite unless playing with someone I know embraces 1v2 because, as Baikin said, it's hard enough 1v1ing, it's even worse 1v2ing if you don't want it/like it/plan for it. Particularly in terms of hero choices. It's also horrible playing Malphite in solo queue because as Mog can attest, I'll start actually calling people to go places and forcing teamfights/drawing out stalemates while my ult CDs etc. and that pretty much demands more teamwork than you'll usually get in solo-queue :x I actually consider Shen an off-tank more than a true tank; he works much better when you have a "true" mass-disable initiator. This is largely because to get the most out of Shen he should be pushing one lane, then come teleporting into the teamfight, which means the rest of your team needs a tank to be wandering. Rammus is an okay "tank" but he shines more during laning phase as a ganker... and because lane-ganking only lasts so long he tends to get obsolete. It's a shame Riot struck down the proposed buff to Rammus because of lore reasons (turning MR into AP). EDIT: Oh right! When I need to tank, and lane, I play Taric. Mana Manip into Aegis/Shroud/Treads into, well, by that point w/e you want. As for Malderon: TF outranged is a TF that has to cry and towerhug. There's nothing else to it. He has bad burst and low range and thus basically no lane presence. You MUST lane with someone with incredible lane presence or you're asking for disaster. Malphite, by the way, is "okay" laning but he doesn't have much lasting power. Tears through his mana pool far too quickly ![]() You don't really need Oracles against invis, especially if you're playing a softie. Your tank should be getting oracles, and you should be warding up on teamfight pushes. It's why at decent Elos against multiple invis you just 5v5 push as soon as possible. Invis heroes HATE having to play a 5v5 early game when they're not farmed. It's also why you should never run a team with more than one invis ![]()

Edit: I guess I should also point out that I never buy Oracle with Malphite. If Twitch pops up I hit him with Q, run up, Ground Slam, Twitch is nerfed for the rest of his ult. Carry on killing, guys! Shaco the same thing, Eve... Eve doesn't even really merit my attention usually. >_> So, yeah. As Mog confirmed, your Malphite just sucked, hah.

Well in early game she's gonna save her stun 100% of the time till she finds a good spot to get u. So stay out of her flash ULT range (which is ridiculous). if you manage to do this for a while she'll get frustrated and use her stun to kill creeps. Staying out of her stun range isn't TOO bad as she cant kill creeps as efficient. If she doesnt feel like she can kill you she'll still stun you anyways and damage you(and hopefully get you to use your cleanse/ flash). IT is really important you get your HP high at ALL times (IE you are 80% , use that health pot asap, she's just lowering you for her burst+ ignite to finish you off). The way to beat annie is to harass her during the times her stun is only at 1-3. You get her low and then if she tries to flash+ult+ignite you, you can actually take her down after the initial burst.( Generally if you get hp quints or some form of +hp item, the burst won't kill you, and generally annie's will run past , after their burst , to cast another round of spells to finish you off. (during this you can just sit still instead of running and dps her to death) ) If you are around ~level 6. anything less than 700 hp is dead. 100%. Aka all squishy characters like ashe, tf, and yummy ezreal, karthus(usually takes dorans but still easy) , ETC. if you are 1khp > annie will probably try to harass you a bit before killing. BTW annie can only harass so much if she took a sapphire cystal, like 2-3 times before she has to save the ~450 mana for the qwe burst. so if you manage to stay well above 800~ hp, she will get frustrated and gank other lanes. Also be mindful of when harassing her when shes only at 1-3 stun, she will obviously try to lasthit creeps with it. Look at your own creeps hp. Is it low? Annie will target it, so go hit her as she's doing this. if you see this and do it every time it will completely fuck her hp.

If you get a banshees veil however, annie will never ever target you, the only way she could is either to save her stun to 4 and q spell-> ult, w , but that doesnt do nearly enough damage. Occasionally i ignite to remove the banshee veil and ewq but not often. Basically if i see a banshee's veil i tend to not try to target to character (+ hp + magic resist +negates one of my nukes/stun completely) Midgame annie will also take golem buff regularly (for example she ulted you or anyone, she'll take golem with her bear) Spot this, and simply walk up and kill her. Annie gets rather low hp when she tries to golem at 6-9. (when i try to golem at 6 i usually end up barely surviving) And late game Silence, taunt , fear, etc. can easily shut down an annie For example, ashe arrows in, someone else silences, its game over for annie. 100%
