Sorry, I meant early game. As Brees pointed out, 1000 hp Shen = good damage from Ki. Sometimes I'm astonished at how much damage a Shen does to me really early in the game, and that explains it, and gives me something to look out for

There's an old December list for USA players out on solomid.net, there's an IRC channel where you can befriend an admin and have them look it up for you, or you can estimate it by playing against good players. Your call.

why last whisper over like phantom dancer?

http://www.lol-europe.com/board/showthread.php?t=30985 For Europeans, came out yesterday. That's what the Euros are talking about o/
Frolossus: because Last Whisper costs 1/2 the cost and ends up giving more of a damage boost.
Also I'm not sure about Boots of Mobil but that's really just each person's taste anyways.

I'm fairly sure sorc boots and guise provide +pen, whereas void staff is +pen%. +20 pen on a 200 resist enemy is 180 effective resist, +20% pen is 160 effective resist. Void staff is the only magic pen item (I think) that scales with defenders' resist.

What about the infinity edge? Is it worth it?

But the reality is that almost no one will hit 200 magic resist, so that's not a particularly good comparison. For example, Teemo and Twitch and Ashe and so on and so forth actually sit at 30 MR, plus 25 from Treads for a total of 55. When you consider that 15% from mastery with both items + marks mpen runes ~55 flat pen, that means with just those two items you're crushing the majority of ranged DPS + Treads. Say they buy Banshees and hit around 110, well if you buy Void Staff by the time they finish it, you'll drop them from 110 to like 55-60, which means you're still almost completely wiping out their MR.

It's great, but expensive. Best DPS item in the game in terms of single-hit damage output (you need to supplement it with attack speed). There're bunches of guides linked on the fourth post of this thread, such as one for Ashe etc. but anyways, Last Whisper + Infinity Edge is considered the strongest ranged DPS two-item combo in the game.

really depends what role you're filling. I typically play ashe on teams that already have characters who'll be putting out large amounts of physical damage, so I focus on things that will assist them (BC) and my Volley (Brutalizer, plus any BC stacks I might've build up before the Volley). If you're the main physical damage dealer, IE is optimal, but in the same breath, for that role, other champions are usually smarter than Ashe.
|
I was playing with a TLer who goes IE on Ashe, along with other +damage stuff, and no AS. I was surprised. His logic? The big deal is volley, and volley doesn't use AS. I'm not sure it's "right" or anything, but certainly interesting.
|
Using that logic, you should go Bloodthirster, not IE, it's more efficient for stacking straight damage. I mean, Volley's a big deal and you do want to make sure your build is efficient for it, but it's still just once every 4 seconds (down to 2.4 with maxed CD reduction), and in the meantime, it's best to put your AD to good use by attacking with it quickly and preferably critting a bunch.
|
wouldn't it be best to have both a blood thirster and an infinity edge?
|
if your sole goal in the game were to maximize volley output, you'd have 5 maxed bloodthirsters, chug a red elixer, then buy a brutalizer, then kill baron.
|
how do you get stacks on a blood thirster?
|
Does Volley not crit? I also remember part of his logic being that first guaranteed crit was important, so Infinity Edge increased the burst a lot. (well, by 25%...)
|
Volley does not crit, and yes, the first guaranteed crit with IE is insane. IE is great, do not get me wrong, but I go for the budget Armor Cleaving build that ganks and supports other DPSers like a champ. If you wanna carry, just go generic carry build and do doran's shield -> boots -> LW -> boots2 -> IE.
|
Volley does not crit; it does flat damage based on your damage + volley bonus.
Ignoring crit %, volley adds like a whopping 20 dps. It's really not that "great" for single-target damage.

isnt there only one nexus? and one baron? and why doesnt the blood thirster show stacks like the sword of the occult or something?
