If you decompress pak.zip and recompress it with the native windows compressor (right click and send to -> compressed folder), it will reduce loading times by quite a lot as a temporary fix. It worked for me, but not everyone saw the improvement. Also my laptop's ATI 3650 can't run it, wtf.. it works great for a while and then overheats and turns all choppy

but it looks fine on integrated graphics.

Oh yeah, this game is a lot of fun. The monster deaths are very satisfying because if you crit they explode in a mass of lightning and splatter all over the place. Also, sometimes you can blast them off the edge of a cliff and watch them go flying.. it does seem a little too easy especially because there's a lot of things you can abuse but its still a great game.

Fun little game but seems a tad shallow. I've played D2, mythos and FATE extensively so playing this game felt kinda weird, like I've already played it before.

Not bad for a $20 game, as far as D2 clones go I still prefer titan quest.

Rofl I just got ember beam. Craziest attack I've gotten so far.

I'm a bit bummed that every new ability I gain seems to out-class the ones before it, but I suppose that's normal to some extent. That being said, I have like 6 points into the ember lightning spell, and it's been my main spell for ages now. With only 2 points into ember beam, it's now my main "kill everything" button skill. It's really only in the short term. IMO once you get to high levels, the real thing that determines the strength of the skills is how much contribution Magic stat and weapon damage make. On my level 30-ish mage, Ember Lightning outdoes Ember Lance on damage (and has way more utlity since it can shoot through walls) because Lightning gets 100% magic stat and 20% weapon damage, while Lance only gets 50% magic stat and 8% weapon damage. I imagine at even higher levels, Ember Lightning becomes the primary form of attack, while Ember Strike becomes the primary form of crowd control.

I'm playing Alchemist, and I've mostly dumped points into Magic/Defense. I noticed that in this game you regenerate mana quite fast which is a nice break from the early levels of D2 (or D2 without insight runeword

). Anyone know what skills to "max"? As there are no prerequisites I've basically saved a lot of my points and I've been doing fine, although perhaps this is because I'm playing on Normal. I might restart and try this on Hard, the game seems too easy so far.

This game looks spiffy, too bad I just got dragon age or I'd give it a shot. Maybe come christmas when I have more free time I'll try it out, can't go wrong with the $20 price tag and the glowing reviews.

Hopefully this will be the first game that can properly scratch my diablo 2 itch, which I still play from occaison to occaison. Will this be the first game to beat out diablo 2 at its own game?

When I tried to install it, it says prior installation detected.
I did some googling and it said I should delete runic games folder and uninstall from control pannel. I've done both of those and it's still broken! Not happy

Any help? Anyone else experience this same problem?
I've been told to download JVtools 16 2009, I have done. But I don't know how to use the file search program

I hate how rubbish with computers I really am

Ah right if anyone has the same problem as me. Go to steam, and try downloading the demo. After like 5 seconds. Stop the download and go to control panel and delete it again! Hope that helps anyone should they get the same problem
