as it stands im just going to get an xbox360 controller since people say its playable even if its not as good

I'm having a lot of trouble with Falcon racking up damage at low % without getting hit. How do I do this! (Vs Marth).
Has this thread become simple questions simple answers for melee????

you're gonna have to be more specific with the problem... "how to do damage and not get hit" isn't very descriptive lol. dash dance moar is the only advice i can give for something like that

It's easy every time he comes at you with an aerial just hit him with a disjointed hitbox, it works 100% of the time and you never lose priority

Hmm what I mean is what moves should I do when he is at low percent. If I do an L-canceled air atk he usually gets a hit off and then subsequent hits.
I'm really new at the moment all I normally do is run around the map as fast as I can and try to catch him off-guard (usually with a Nair) and then follow it up with any moves that I hope to god will kill the shit out of him. This works when he is at higher %'s but when he is low that is when he can get kills on me. I don't really have any concepts of strategy but I am getting more and more consistent with my shffleing and wave-landing every day. I just have no idea what to do strategically in this mu (fortunately my roommate doesn't really know what he is doing either and his play-style can be reduced to wave-dashing a lot and running around recklessly trying to hit me with his sword) and I am curious if anyone knows advice on how to initiate combat at low %'s where I can't stun him or knock him or knock him down with an attack.

Grabs and better-spaced aerials are going to be your early damage. At low percents, you want to hit him with the tip of your fast-falled fair just a couple frames before you hit the ground. If he's hitting you after your aerials, you're probably aerial-ing too early. You want to be throwing the attack out after you've already started fast-falling so that he's still in hitstun when you're out of landing lag.

Thanks

You should watch more videos of good marth players and watch what they do really. It's a lot easier to get ideas and to understand the game that way.
|
Man I try but it's like when I first started SC a long time ago. It's so hard to derive info from the vods and make sense of it.
Atm I'm just trying to get games and advice from people in the local community.
|
Oh to make it clear... I'm the Falcon, he's the Marth.
|
Work on your combo game, practice A LOT vs lvl 1 cpu marth.
Learn to do upthrow > nair > upthrow > uair > uair > knee (example) stuff. You also need to learn what works, if you only freestyle during combos it will be a lot harder.
Dash dance is really important for falcon, try to dash dance and grab him if he misses with an aerial. Mix up dash dance grabbing and sometimes just going straight in with a nair.
Basic falcon %-info (vs marth): You can start comboing from uthrow when hes around 25-30%+ (into nair or uair). Upthrow > Knee works from like 60-65% to 100-110%.
If you grab him at lower percents than 25-30, you need to downthrow (unless hes a scrub and doesn't do anything if you upthrow him).
If you hit a nair at lower percents you can usually combo it into a grab unless he CC's it.

Puppykiller, Zoler pretty much covered the basics of what you should be working on, but I just wanna double-stress that you should be aiming to get grabs. Grabs grabs grabs. Ok I'm done.

Grabs are broken vs marth indeed.
I forgot to add as well that you shouldn't be afraid to shield his aerials. Usually you can nair OOS (out of shield) to catch him, even if he's out of your grab range.

Yeah, every character's grabs poop on Marth. Rough life

except for shiek on pal lol I hate playing shiek on pal
Also learn to gentlemen from l-cancelled aerials it makes most of your aerial approaches uncounterable and safe if you do them right with the correct spacing

Gentleman is a good advice, I forgot that he probably played NTSC. Though gentleman doesn't make missing aerials safe, just a bit less risky, but still punishable.
