/end shameless plug No but seriously, there are alternate methods other than travelling there, including online stores or buying from anime goods distributors, usually either at a physical store they own or at the afore mentioned anime conventions. Your only concern is whether or not stock is available, and the cost after you factor in the price hikes from shipping and handling fees. edit: also, owning the games is more of a novelty factor. Most people cannot afford the giant price hikes, and those that buy it only do so because they have a tendency to collect items like this already anyway. I'm in no means using this as an excuse to pirate, but in terms of supporting ZUN himself, I believe he's made it clear before he has zero intent on using touhou project as a source of income. Rather, any money goes towards covering the costs of making the games (beer), and perhaps a little extra (beer). I'm sure if you ever get the chance to meet him, he would much more appreciate you buying him a cold one than paying him for any of his games or music CDs.

http://www.toylet.net http://www.jbox.com The Touhou wiki page keeps up with this stuff too. According to the wiki toylet.net is currently sold out of all touhou games. The wiki also links the English patch of every game in each respective game's page. http://en.touhouwiki.net http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Buying_Stuff

I almost hope it isn't another straight shump because that would be a wasted premise. + Show Spoiler [shot my foot] + I guess you could describe any of the touhou games in a metaphorical tone (they're already a good way there, their plots being rather tenuous), and make it interesting. Who was I kidding, expecting a touhou game to have any lasting implications. Their also gameplay first, everything else second... I wonder, how would you make a serious touhou game? Sort of like Touhouvania in the later stages or CtC, but instead of pervading epicness much, give it a dark, depressing, hopeless feel. Are there any games (in general) which do this? Being horror doesn't necessarily mean anything. *scrolls down*. What? Why a fighter? Why does touhou need another fighter? And so cartoony (only saying because the scenario and design of the banner looks darker) at that. The color scheme looks like StB's one. The attack sprites are pleasant though, if they can keep the animation smooth, that would be pretty sweet.

Isn't the general consensus that IaMP trumps both SWR and Soku hardcore anyway? Is ZUN planning to use the same general combat system, or does he have something else in mind? That's the consensus among people who play it as a fighting game, but most people who play the spinoffs don't really bother to get competitive with it and a sequel to IaMP is unlikely. ZUN isn't directly involved in making them anyway, so it's not as if you're missing out on a main series game for it.

I was expecting another Phantasmagoria style game if ZUN was going to continue with the Taoist vs. Buddhist thing. I never played either Phantasmagoria games, but they never looked all that fun to me. Color me excited that we get a fighting game instead. EDIT: I was trying to find the Eternal Steam Engine performed live by a bunch of people wearing animal head masks but it doesn't seem to exist on youtube anymore. So I'll settle on a different video of a song from the fighting games.
