Unless she wins a GSL, then maybe skipping at all WCS events is worth it. Even 3 Ro32 placements in a row at GSL won't give her a ticket at BlizzCon.

I was looking forward to DH. =(

What her "ultimate goal" is who knows, but the trip from Korea to Austin and back is long enough that I'd hate going if it were me, and idk how much she values some WCS points over good practice on KR ladder or over the trip. Of course I would have liked to see her crush a ton of players, get some points, all that. And I'm sure a lot of fans going wanted to see her play live.
maybe there's a magic tourney happening nearby she wants to make instead idk shrug i hear they have more of that in Kr now who knows

She qualified for GSL again but if she makes out of Ro32 is still up in the air. With two Protoss in her group, I don't think it is gonna happen.
Good practice and all in Korea, she needs to produce some results and get some points to keep up in ranking. Without winning something, where is she gonna get the money? DH Austin is happening 2 weeks before her group at GSL so it is no timing issue here. Practicing without producing results is pointless as a progamer.

To many people, playing SC2 for a living may sound like a joke but at least to Scarlett it isn't the case given she is dedicated to it enough to move to Korea and train there or that's what I assume. I'm not talking about this like the end of the world but simply in a realistic point of view. Rent and food are not grown on tree. Winning is earning as simple as that. She skipped a bunch of big money events this year already and it is not like there are 20+ of them on the horizon. I wonder how sustainable her career is if she keeps missing out on events like this.

Olimoleague in a little under 6 hours. She usually signs up late, so don't know if she's participating.

Hmm. I think, the status might be as follows:
TLDR: passion > hunting for points.
- she enjoys living in Korea, so she will stay in Korea. - she decided that it is time to win "once and for all" the big jackpot - GSL. Not a jackpot from the points perspective but a jackpot from the "Starcraft passion" / career/ sense of achievement perspective. Staying focused on a single goal is so much better than travelling back and forth between various continents, trying to win here and there. Not better for the fans, but a lot less exhausting for her. So this is very beneficial. She went straight to Seoul where the toughest challenge in the world is, and has said not just once that she will attempt GSL as much as possible, so this might actually be her plan.
Every pro in any sport dreams of winning the biggest most important competition possible (in my humble opinion thats GSL not Blizzcon) to have a sense of career accomplishment.
Personally I am very happy with knowing she stays in Korea and trains at her own pace, while also enjoying the life there. She has earned the right to do this. In the past years she travelled more than any other progamer, in 2015-2016 she practically lived on planes. So she might've decided to stop that. Of course fans don't give a shit about the travel factor as long as she shows up, shows "good games for fans", smiles and signs autographs. But it actually is exhausting, to do this year after year after year.
Regarding other Korean tournaments, from that perspective, I am sure it's not as easy to qualify in them as it is in foreign tournaments.
Just my two cents, its only a guess on what she planned.

I see your point and all. My point is winning a tournament is not just for the money or points but also show that you have passion for the game. If you play the game and don't want to win anything, I highly doubt that you are really passionate. You play the game to win, right? Absolutely yes.
I understand that pain of traveling and believe me I do. I live in the US and have family in Asia. But there are only 4 DHs, travel 4 weekends a year is not that big of a deal. It may be a good opportunity to meet some fans, some fellow progamers. Make a vacation out of it. Get out of the house now and then are good for you.
Now it comes to a harsh stuff from me. Sorry about that but I don't see her winning a GSL this year. I wonder if she even makes it to R16 this year. Korean scene may be reduced but top players are still killers. Scarlett barely produces any results this year and her constant tilt towards Protoss is not helping. She didn't qualify for another other events rather than GSL. Without having a realistic goal, winning a GSL is just another delusion that you try to put yourself into.
